Chapter 13 - Turning the Tables on Shisui

Satoshi could tell why Shisui had come to him.

What Shisui wanted was simple: peace and love.

But the clan members were becoming increasingly radical, at odds with Konoha.

Who knew when they might emulate their predecessors like Setsuna, and assassinate the Hokage with a blade?

Shisui was burning with anxiety, yet helpless. So he came to talk to Satoshi, hoping this rising star could consider the bigger picture and assist him in changing the current situation of the Uchiha.

"Satoshi."

"Shisui-senpai." Satoshi showed a benevolent smile.

Shisui nodded slightly. "There are some things I'd like to discuss with you, is this a good time?"

Satoshi grumbled inwardly, thinking it was actually not convenient at all, as Shisui was delaying his supper.

Did Shisui not understand the etiquette of visiting? Next time he came, could he bring something?

Despite his thoughts, Satoshi still invited Shisui into his home. He tidied up the messy room, making just enough space for someone to sit.

"Shisui-senpai, just speak your mind directly."

Shisui didn't beat around the bush and said straightforwardly, "You should be able to see that the relationship between the clan and Konoha is becoming increasingly tense."

Satoshi nodded lightly, cooperating with Shisui for a moment.

Seeing that Satoshi didn't speak, Shisui continued, "But Satoshi, you should also understand that if a rebellion truly breaks out, the Uchiha definitely won't be able to stand against the village."

"Even if we could win, both the village and the clan would be severely weakened, and who knows how many comrades would have to sacrifice their lives then?"

Satoshi nodded slightly. "I understand. People living in peace naturally don't realize how precious peace is."

Hearing this, Shisui was suddenly stunned. From Satoshi's words, he seemed to understand quite well.

But why had he been doing these dangerous things repeatedly lately?

Shisui took a deep breath and slowly spoke, "Satoshi, I want to know, whose side are you on?"

"What do you mean, whose side?"

Shisui's brows furrowed deeper. "Will you, like me, try your best to maintain peace between the clan and Konoha, or…?"

Satoshi chuckled softly, thinking, 'Foolish Shisui.'

Living in the Ninja World, yet still naively believing there was such a thing as peace.

So-called peace only had two reasons.

Either you couldn't defeat the opponent, so you conceded.

Or the opponent couldn't defeat you, so they conceded.

But Satoshi naturally wouldn't say that. He knew Shisui was already aligning himself with the Hokage. At this point, defecting would only cause trouble for himself.

So he adjusted his expression, putting on a sincere look. "Shisui-senpai, I naturally hope for peaceful coexistence. My parents died in the war, and I don't want to see any more bloodshed."

Huh?

Shisui suddenly felt an itch in his head.

That's not right, wasn't Satoshi a rebel?

Then how should his actions be explained?

Seeing Shisui's puzzled expression, Satoshi almost couldn't hold back his laughter.

No wonder you did those foolish things, your CPU isn't working well.

"Shisui-senpai, don't forget, my father was a student of Kagami-sama. He often taught me during his lifetime to always harbor the will of fire."

Shisui was even more confused. As a descendant of Kagami, he naturally inherited Kagami's burning will of fire. But he couldn't connect Satoshi to any aspect of the will of fire.

"Satoshi, you…"

Shisui thought for a moment, then carefully asked, "It's just the two of us here. I want to ask you, have you truly never considered a military coup, or going down the path of rebellion?"

Satoshi widened his eyes. "Shisui-senpai, what are you talking about? The Uchiha have always been a part of the village. What coup? What rebellion? Your thoughts are very dangerous."

Shisui felt sweat starting to trickle down. "I didn't…"

Satoshi suddenly stood up. "Shisui-senpai, I must criticize you for this. As a junior of Kagami-sama, how can you have such dangerous thoughts?"

"I'm not…"

"Not what?" Satoshi spoke passionately, afraid that if he stopped, he wouldn't be able to hold back his laughter.

"I even regarded you as a senior to learn from, and yet you…"

Shisui quickly covered Satoshi's mouth. "Don't talk nonsense."

"Wuwuwu, Shisui, I'm going to report you to the clan head."

Shisui couldn't understand how things had taken such a miraculous turn.

If he remembered correctly, he was here today to persuade Satoshi to work with him to maintain peace between the clan and Konoha, right?

How had a few words from Satoshi turned him into the one contemplating the use of force?

Wait, Shisui remembered something else.

"Satoshi, tell me honestly, do you have any other motives for contacting Naruto?"

Satoshi shook his head and said, "As an orphan myself, I know how difficult survival can be."

"I just wanted him to feel a bit of warmth, so he wouldn't be left with indelible shadows."

Shisui pressed on, "Then what about today's incident?"

Satoshi pointed to the Konoha Military Police Force insignia on his body and said, "I've said it a million times, this is just performing the duties of the Konoha Military Police Force."

Seeing Satoshi's righteous demeanor, Shisui didn't know what to say. Now, he saw Satoshi as a clan member who loved the village. From Satoshi, he seemed to see the same burning will of fire as himself.

Shisui lightly patted Satoshi's shoulder and said, "Satoshi, that's enough. I'll be going now."

Satoshi nodded slightly, also standing up. "It's almost time. I need to go on my night shift."

Satoshi took his blade and carefully adjusted his attire.

"Protecting the safety of every villager is the responsibility of our Konoha Military Police Force."

Hearing this, Shisui showed a relieved expression.

Having such a peace-loving genius ninja was a blessing for the Uchiha.

After Shisui left, Satoshi could no longer suppress the upward curve of his lips.

The naive Shisui had a pair of powerful eyes, yet he was still pushed to a dead end.

Satoshi sighed softly and began his patrol.

In the middle of the night, Konoha was quiet everywhere.

Satoshi was pondering how to complete the system's mission as soon as possible, and without realizing it, he had walked near the Memorial Stone.

"Hmm?" Satoshi scratched his head. "How did I end up here?"

He was about to turn and leave, but unintentionally caught sight of a blurry figure.

Satoshi took a few steps forward and clearly saw the person's appearance.

Kakashi was wiping dust off the Memorial Stone while muttering in a low voice, "Obito, I met a strange guy. He's also an Uchiha."

"I don't know what's in his head, to give me a book in that situation."

At this, Kakashi's face flushed red.

Thinking about it carefully, the one who gave the book was eccentric, and the one who received it probably wasn't too bright either.

Not far away, Satoshi was a bit displeased.

What kind of talk was that? If you don't like it, give it back. Who complains about a gift after receiving it?

"Ahem, Kakashi-senpai, it's impolite to speak ill of people behind their backs."
