Alicia thought about it. Thought about Kyle, who wasn't a criminal but had been willing to sell her to one. Thought about the life she'd been living, the fear that had become so normal she didn't even notice it anymore.
"No," she said finally. "It doesn't scare me as much as going back out there."
Jon Hun nodded, like that was the answer he'd expected. "Good. Then we understand each other."
He turned to leave, then stopped at the door. "There's food in the kitchen. Help yourself. If you need anything, press the button by the bed. Someone will come."
"Jon Hun," Alicia said, and he turned back to look at her. "Thank you. For helping me."
His expression didn't change. "Don't thank me yet. You don't know what you've agreed to."
He closed the door behind him, and Alicia was alone.
