Chapter 1 - Chapter one: Rebirth

Alister Adams appeared in the center of a colossal, ruined temple.

[Welcome to the Alignment War!]

[Current player count: 100 trillion!]

[Players are divided into the "Hero Alliance" or the "Demon Faction"!]

[You have been assigned to the "Demon Faction." Please review the following critical instructions!]

Death results in permanent removal from the game.

Victory requires either total annihilation or domination of an empire-level Hero faction.

Upon fulfilling victory conditions, you may choose to: return to your original world, remain in Tera Ultra, or ascend to a higher-level realm.

The first week is a safe period; after this, Hero players can detect all Demon Faction members within a certain radius.

As a Demon, expect constant threats from Heroes, rogue adventurers, or rival Demon factions. Avoid attention until your strength is sufficient or have formed a needed alliance.

[...]

Alister rubbed his temples. The sheer scale of it was staggering.

"I've regressed again…" he muttered. "And this time, it's not just me. Trillions of others were dragged into this… Alignment War."

Unlike his previous lives, where he had been a Hero chosen for greatness only to be betrayed, Alister now had the luxury of choice. He would not make the same mistakes twice. This time, he would walk the path of the Demon.

Before him floated countless eggs, each pulsing with an aura of power. These were Demon Faction bloodlines—each a potential vessel for unimaginable power. The wrong choice could doom him; the right one could make him unstoppable.

Alister scanned the field carefully. At first glance, all the eggs were identical—but that was when his special ability, Hidden Insight, activated.

[Nether Chimera (Demon Faction Bloodline)]Rare Demon type. After integration, you will become a Nether Chimera Demon. Capable of awakening Talents in shadow, void, elemental, and curse manipulation. Strongly recommended.

[Void Wyrm (Demon Faction Bloodline)]High-class Demon type. Can awaken void-based abilities. Recommended.

A surge of excitement shot through him. This ability to perceive hidden information wasn't a cheat—he had earned it across his past life regressions. It gave him an edge that other players lacked.

Scanning further:

[Blood Golem (Demon Faction Bloodline)]Mid-class Demon type…

[Shadow Harpy (Demon Faction Bloodline)]Mid-class Demon type…

The majority were weak, low-class types: Slimes, Kobolds, and minor spirits. Alister ignored them. He knew better than to gamble with mediocrity.

Time was slipping by. Heart hammering, Alister spotted a peculiar egg tucked in the shadows:

[Abyssal Nether Chimera (Demon Faction Bloodline)]Legendary Demon type. Integration grants transformation into a Nether Chimera with dual void and elemental forms. Talents include Shadow Rift, Void Surge, Curse Manifestation, all consumption and Elemental Mastery. Strongly recommended.

"This is it," Alister whispered. He reached out, and the egg enveloped him in a swirling storm of black-and-purple light. His body twisted, reformed, and expanded.

When the light subsided, he was no longer human. A towering creature of jagged obsidian, shadow tendrils, and molten core energy—his wings spanned nearly thirty meters. Every sinew radiated lethal strength, every scale impervious to conventional weapons.

"This is the Demon transformation," he said, flexing his claws. Power surged through him, intoxicating and exhilarating. But Alister didn't let it cloud his mind. He had seen this rush before—and he had learned its danger.

[Player's Demon Transformation Complete. Logging into Tera Ultra…]

Eight gates of radiant energy appeared around him, each leading to a different zone of Tera Ultra.

Alister accessed his menu. With Hidden Insight, he could read through each gate's statistics:

[Gate 1: Silent Wastes] – barren, resource-poor, uninhabitable. Not recommended.

[Gate 2: Tempest Peaks] – rich in resources but inside the territory of the Tempest Dominion, a heavily fortified empire. Not recommended.

[Gate 3: Sacred Expanse] – abundant resources, but guarded by dozens of epic-level Heroes. Suicide.

[Gate 7: Shadowed Abyss] – deep in the Chaos Wilds. Complicated terrain, multiple warring factions, and lawless territories. Highly recommended for demon lords with strong initial ability and potential.

Alister chose Gate 7. As he entered, he was immediately surrounded by ruins and jagged cliffs—the remnants of a fallen civilization.

A colossal shadow stirred at the heart of the valley, a throne carved from obsidian. Alister landed gracefully atop it, wings folding back. His personal space, his lair.

Opening his Status Menu, he reviewed his stats:

{Name: Alister Adams

Realm: none

rank: none

tier: none

Race: Abyssal Nether Chimera (Demon Faction)

Base Stats: 1700 HP, 100 MP, 110 Strength, 70 Agility, 280 Constitution, 100 Will

Talents: Shadow Rift(Inactive), Void Surge (Inactive), Curse Manifestation (Inactive),all consumption(active), Elemental Mastery (Inactive), Nether Resilience (Inactive)

Other Skills: None}

five times the power of standard starting Demon Kings. Enough to contend with armies—or decimate them. But Alister knew better than to rely on raw strength alone.

He opened the faction chat:

"Trapped in a Monster Body!""I ended up as a Goblin King, haha!""I'm starving in a wasteland…""A Nether Chimera? Lucky you, I can barely survive as a Slime Demon!"

Even with only three daily messages, the sheer number of participants—100 trillion—made communication chaotic.

Alister closed the chat, focusing on his past life. A Hero once betrayed, discarded after being used. Not this time. He would carve his own path, and the alignment would tilt in his favor.

The world of Tera Ultra was massive. Heroes and Demons alike prowled its lands. Some were already powerful beyond imagination. Some were weak and desperate. All would play a part in the coming chaos.

Alister Adams spread his wings, feeling the shadow energy ripple through him. He was ready to rise.

The Alignment War had begun.
