Lucas returned the smile, both of them still on the floor, rolling and hugging each other in that crazy reunion.
"I just don't get it… how did this become possible? I thought I was dreaming but—does this mean we really left our world?" Travis asked, still hugging Lucas tightly. The latter only shrugged.
"Travis, this is our new life, I guess. I think we should start making provisions toward surviving it rather than thinking of the horrendous disaster that befell our world," he stated calmly.
They kept talking. For them, it felt like everyone around had vanished for a while and only they remained.
Travis was happy—truly happy—that one of his companions from the real world was alive. It warmed him deeply. But after a moment, he realized he hadn't spoken to Kai and Derek yet. He turned—and saw both Alphas looking so dejected.
