Chapter 3 - THE ROOFTOP

When she arrived the rooftop restaurant the staff greeted her and led her to her private section.

The rooftop was exactly how she had pictured it to be.

Candles glowing on the tables, bottles of champagne sitting beautifully in a bucket of ice, to the left, a small band played Ethan's favorite song which she had sent to them due the preparations.

 It was breathtaking.

Her chest tightened. Tonight was going to change everything, but she couldn't back down now.

She adjusted her cap, her eyes scanning the area before she finally sat down.

She was very nervous, the last time she was this nervous was when she got her first role as an actress.

Elena didn't know what came over her but she found herself straightening the clothes that were used in covering the table, even though it didn't need straightening.

 Ring ring her phone rang.

She smiled with the hopes that it was Ethan, but when she checked her phone it was Lucia.

Elena we are heading to the club Lucia said from the other end, her voice coming out in a rush.

 Say hi to Ethan.

Elena didn't even get the time to speak before the line went dead.

 ‎Tick tock Tick tock

Elena's eyes were glued to the clock on the wall opposite her.

It had been one hour since she had been sitting there and yet her phone was still silent.

He hadn't even called her all day, that was unlike him.

Ethan was always early. He was always the first to arrive at every date.

Then something clicked in her head.

Don't tell me it was pay back for my past delay. At the thought of that she burst into laughter.

 Childish.

 ‎Today was different to her.

‎what if something bad had happened to him? Could he be sick without my knowledge, or was he in an accident on his way here? Her heart clenched tightly at the thought of something happening to him.

‎Calm down Elena, you are overthinking again….she quickly assured herself.

He his just running late, maybe it's the traffic or something at work.

 He will definitely come.

Minutes turned into hours and she hadn't seen or heard from him.

 So she waited.

 Unknown POV ( Reporter)

 Across the city.

Lucas sat in a corner of a boot of a diner, A basket of fries, and a cup of coffee in front of him.

One of his hand was placed along the backrest of the chair where he also placed his bag which had his camera, as if he owns the place.

He was just 24 years but he carried himself with so much confidence, that strangers always mistake him to be in his thirties. He didn't correct them.

He was a tall and dark skin guy, with broad shoulders, he had a well defined jaw line that could pass as that of a model.

And his eyes, were so beautiful. He had the kind of eyes that never missed anything.

His eyes ...they were what did the charm, that no girl could resist no matter what.

Hey handsome you want another refill, the waitress asked him, her boobs bouncing gently as she spoke.

Lucas smirked, his eyes staying far too long on her boobs.

He lick the side of lips as he lifted his empty cup towards her, gladly.

She giggled like a two year old and the guy on the other side said something about Lucas being a lucky bastard.

This wasn't the first time that people had assumed things about him, they often called him a play boy, that he had a long line of women waiting at his beck and call.

Maybe it was his playful nature,or how he flirted with them even when he wasn't trying to, or maybe it was how his eyes lingered on them for too long.

He was a naughty boy, that he will agree with.

But he hadn't had a real relationship in like forever, that was because his good looks had people assuming lots of things about him. Things that he let them just believe.

Lucas was half way done with his fries when his phone range.

The caller ID was unknown, but he answered regardless.

 Yes Lucas said uninterested.

Elena Moore Skyloft rooftop. She is proposing tonight. A low voice on the other end whispered.

He froze, one French fries halfway to his mouth

 To whom? He asked curious.

Just go, you will see, and then the line went dead.

Lucas was silent for a moment, but then he wiped his fingers on a napkin, dropped his bill on the table.

He grabbed his bag that contained his camera and also grabbed his coat and just like that he was out of the door, running towards Skyloft rooftop where Elena waited.

 ***

 Elena Moore.

Her stomach had growled several times while she waited but she ignored it.

The band had already played three of Ethan's favorite songs and he still hadn't arrived.

The waiter exchanged curious look with each other but she didn't pay them any attention.

Instead Elena took out a bootleg of champagne and began to sip from it. The champagne doing little to calm her down.

Finally she decided to text him.

 Hey...….delete

 Hiiii baby .....delete

 My Love... delete

She let out a heavy breath as she didn't know what to text him.

When she found the courage, she finally sent him a text which she didn't have to delete.

 ‎Ethan baby is everything okay?

She sent the text and immediately locked her phone, closing her eyes.

It wasn't the first time she had sent him a text, but right now she felt nervous. Her hands had even begun to shake.

Her legs were now bouncing under the table, she pressed her heels to the floor, trying to control it, but it felt like they weren't hers at that moment.

She held her breath, counting to three as she waited for his response.

 1....
