My time at Alpha Holt's pack has exceeded every expectation I dared to have. The moment I arrived, Alpha Holt presented me to his pack members as his granddaughter, weaving the story of Aunt Krysta and how I became her adopted daughter, just as she had become his. He skillfully avoided mentioning my parents or the circumstances surrounding my adoption, keeping those painful details buried where they belonged.
Harlow received an introduction as my visiting best friend. The relief of being among wolves who knew nothing of my history felt like breathing fresh air after being underwater. No one stared with knowing eyes or whispered behind cupped hands when they thought I couldn't hear.
