Chapter 1 - A Day Under the Dark Clouds

In a distant realm shrouded in darkness and malevolence, lay a quaint village named Astria, nestled deep within the woods. The villagers thrived in harmony, caught between two warring kingdoms, causing the flames of conflict to ignite a dark age. Among them were two siblings, Odeus and Selene, along with their childhood companion, Eugene, who spent their days frolicking in the forest. Their innocent laughter was abruptly silenced when their village was engulfed in flames. As they raced back, they were met with a horrifying scene: soldiers ruthlessly slaughtering their fellow villagers and setting their homes ablaze. Panic-stricken, Odeus and his friends dashed toward the inferno, desperate to find their parents. But it was too late; they discovered that their loved ones had already fallen victim to the chaos. One soldier spotted them, and in a moment of sheer instinct, Odeus grabbed Selene and Eugene, fleeing into the woods with tears streaming down their faces, grappling with the unfathomable cruelty of the world around them. A week passed, filled with the haunting presence of patrolling soldiers searching for survivors. Their meager supplies dwindled, and their hope of escaping faded as they realized enemies encircled the forest. In desperation, Eugene decided to sneak out at night, seeking a deal with the soldiers to betray his friends for his survival. The soldiers, intrigued, considered turning him into one of their own. The next morning, Odeus awoke to find himself surrounded by soldiers. Armed with his father's sword, which he had trained with for years, he plunged into battle with fierce determination, managing to injure a few foes. Yet, amidst the chaos, a devastating blow struck him as he protected his sister. In that moment of despair, he discovered that Eugene was missing; the bitter sting of betrayal pierced his heart, and he finally collapsed. Odeus and his sister were taken prisoner by the soldiers, their fates sealed in a grim reality. When he finally regained consciousness, he was met with the horrifying sight of his sister's lifeless body sprawled on the cold floor, her clothes torn and tattered. As he drew closer, desperate to find any sign of life, despair washed over him when he realized there was no sight of her breathing. Consumed by madness, he tore at the chains binding him, the metal cutting into his wrists until they bled. In a wild surge of desperation, he grabbed the sword lying near the door and launched a surprise attack on one of the sleeping guards. Despite being outnumbered, fury ignited his spirit with every strike as he fought fiercely, knowing he had nothing left to lose. As more soldiers surrounded him, inflicting wounds upon him, he continued to fight with relentless fury until he finally collapsed, bloodied and weak. The soldiers, enraged by the loss of their comrades, decided to make an example of him, severing his limbs and discarding his mutilated body in a cave near his sister. With tears streaming down his face, Odeus crawled toward her, lamenting his failure to protect her and wishing for death to reunite them. Just as despair threatened to consume him, he heard a voice in the shadows, and despite thinking he was losing his mind, he turned to see a figure lurking in the darkness, wanting to check out if it was somebody who survived. Odeus couldn't believe his eyes when he spotted a talking lump of rock, glimmering with a dark metallic purple sheen, hidden away in the corner. The rock promised to help him avenge his family if he consumed it. Skeptical yet desperate, Odeus inquired about its origins. The small rock revealed itself to be a family heirloom, hidden deep within the cave by his father. Stunned by this unforeseen revelation and left with no options as his life was nearing its end, Odeus rolled on the ground and, in a moment of desperation, swallowed the rock. It was a fundamental act of survival, propelled by instinct and the desire to survive. Instantly, a shining light erupted from his chest, accompanied by waves of pain coursing through his body. To his astonishment, his missing limbs began regenerating, taking on a strange, melted chromium appearance with a dark tint. After a few agonizing minutes, the pain faded, and he found himself able to stand. Not only was he stronger, but he felt invigorated. As he gazed at his sister's lifeless body, he crafted a small coffin from an empty wooden box in the cave to lay her to rest. Driven by anger, Odeus promised to make those who caused his family's death suffer greatly, tears rolling down his cheeks as he remembered his little sister. With newfound determination, he marched out of the cave, heading straight for the soldiers who had taken his sister's life, only to find them still lingering nearby. Fear gripped the soldiers, taken aback by his miraculous return and restored limbs. The dark, metallic core residing within Odeus's heart began to speak, revealing that to wield his power, he must consume something, absorbing its traits to unleash abilities through his limbs. His gaze fell upon a sword on the ground, and he instinctively reached for it, commanding the entity to consume it. His arm drew in the sword, melting it away as if molten lava devoured it. The soldiers successfully called for reinforcements. Odeus, consumed by rage and determined to annihilate his foes, felt his arms morphing into the shape of swords. Eager to test the limits of his power, he began to slash through his enemies with terrifying ease, dismantling them until only the general who had taken his sister's life remained. As he charged at the general, Odeus pierced both hands, demanding to know which kingdom he hailed from. The general replied that he was from 'Igia'. Unfamiliar with the territory, Odeus became intrigued, particularly by the motives behind their assault on the innocent. With rage coursing through him, he impaled the general, creating gaping holes in his body that turned his limbs into lifeless, mangled flesh. Each time the general slipped into unconsciousness, Odeus would wake him up, prolonging his suffering until he succumbed to his injuries. Amidst this torment, Odeus sensed the presence of the core within him and asked for its name. The entity answered, introducing itself as Rasal. Thrilled to have a companion he could converse with, Odeus embarked on a quest for truth and vengeance against the betrayal of his friend.
