Chapter 1 - First Day At Academy

In case you're wondering who's this freakishly-handsome guy walking through long, academic hallway, minding his goddamn business, yup, that's me, Kyota—Kyota Harugaki.

…Ah, right. The dazzling, jade-black hair, the gleaming blue eyes and this magnificent, firm physique—over six feet tall height—I've acquired it all after my transmigration.

Long story short: I transmigrated as a human from a straight-up Immortal Demon King. While I may not have any intention of living Kyota's life—or perhaps any human's life at all, I still ended up attending the Sentinel Academy as Kyota had had dream for himself.

That's why I was walking inside the academy, wearing this nicely fabricated uniform. I strolled around as I headed toward the class I was affiliated with.

To be honest though, I think I'm kind of lost. Hmm, perhaps these hallways all look similar and never ending, on the topic.

Penalty: Talent restriction for seven days.

Well, I'm glad that the first task is completed. Two more to go, yuppie!

Tsk! Do I look happy? Certainly not. In fact, I am not.

To begin with, I don't tend to listen to anyone. The system wouldn't be any different too if it wasn't for the fucking penalty.

Right the moment I transmigrated in this world, the system emerged and boom! Before I knew it, damn "Error! Your abilities have been restricted."

Haha, man I gotta stop that tone of voice. I sound like a robot.

In any case, it was annoying. I conquered the previous world relying on those abilities. In this world, however, they were shackled by some sort of third-party intervention. I hate it.

But on the plus side, I get to keep my passive attributes which were awakened through a 'Talent' based on the system interpretation. Furthermore, I received awakened Kyota's Affinity which really help me get admission to this academy.

[Kyota Harugaki]

Affinity : Confidential (Maxed)

Essence: Confidential

Talent: Immortal Supreme (—)

+——+

I take it you've already guessed why I can't afford to ignore the system, haven't you?

I really need my immortality—like, really, badly. I don't know what curse would be inflicted on me if I were to be a mortal. Besides, I hate pain.

Hmm, and I was also eager to know what will happen once my Evolution Points would exceed the maximal threshold. Nevertheless, the Sentinel Academy seemed an intriguing place. Out of amusement from my previous world, I must stay here as a human to seek more funs.

With these kind of flashbacks and considerations, I was looming around, nearly forgetting that I had yet to reach the class the principle mentioned earlier. I was still on that damn hallway. Why doesn't it come to an end?

"Well, well, well! Look who it is." A familiar sound reached my ear as I was still… yup, on that damn hallway.

"You're right! I thought he won't be here since he screwed his evaluation last week."

"Sentinel Academy is going to suck like high school, what a waste!"

"Yeah, what a waste!"

I stopped abruptly.

Having Kyota's memories, I didn't need to turn and look who they were. I knew their voices—all four of their. Regardless, I turned around, sighing exasperatedly.

'Kenji Imura, I swear I'm gonna kill that bastard someday.' I spoke inwardly, narrowing my eyes at the person in front and knowing the regulation of the academy wouldn't let me kill him, I discarded the thought soon after.

"Believe me, Imura. If I'd known I'd see your rotten face before anyone else's I'd skipped classes today."

"Whoa! Did he just mocked you?"

"I guess he did."

"For sure! For sure!"

His three friends—more like, subordinates—added, fuelling his rage.

Imura's vein twisted just as he glittered through his teeth like a stray dog about to bite who stepped on his tail.

This sucks!

"I take it you haven't learn your lessons from high school." He replied, hardly keeping his rage off the cliff, "You are as foul-mouthed as always, mocking your superior, I see."

He took a few steps toward me, smirking as if he's a big shot or something.

"Want me to teach you some manners. Perhaps that would help you evolve into a better human being. Oh right! I forgot you've already screwed your last chance. I guess there's nothing we can do about it, haha."

Man! His provocative smile was annoying. I don't know what gave him the impression that it would enrage me.

I wasn't mad at all.

Why would I be?

I was by all means far superior than him. If I were to get angry on feeble matters as this, I might be angry all the time. That was why I opted to stay clam and taunt him back.

"You should worry about your own growth, Imura. You haven't changed since the first year of high school—always bullying me because I was more attractive than you."

I dived into Kyota's memories more and finding everything I continued.

"You're a bully, Imura, and you've made me suffer my entire high school career. I stayed silent like a fool—not anymore. I dare you to bully me again."

Those three were shocked to see me. Perhaps, they never anticipated this side of Kyota.

I maybe Kyota—but I'm different.

"Shut up, you dimwit!" Kenji Imura snapped at me, "Pathetic losers with Essence Count 1 don't have any rights to mock an A-Ranker."

Ah, that's right. Essence…it's the thing around here.

Original Kyota had only 1 while Imura had at least 500,000. The difference is huge, yes, that's why he thinks he's better which of course, he's not.

"Rights? That's crap. You talk about rights because you cannot use your affinity inside the academy to bully me, haha." I added, smiling cunningly. "If you use your affinity that will go to your assessment and it will be hard for you to join a guild in the future."

"You don't have to worry about that." Imura clench his fists, his infuriation replaced by a smirk. "My father is the CEO of Imura Corp. which sponsors the top guild of Japan—The Phoenix Guild."

The air around his hands changed, faint trails of smoke emitting from them. I got a déjà vu. I knew what he was attempting.

He was using his Affinity: Ice, and he manifesting ice into his fists.

"Kenji, we know all that. But your actions might transgress the regulation of the Sentinel Academy."

"Yeah, you can loose your licence if you use your affinity to hurt a fellow Aspirant."

"Think again, Kenji."

"You should listen to your pals, Imura." I replied, smiling tauntingly.

"Don't lecture me, loser!"

As short tempered as he was, Kenji Imura couldn't hold back his rage, his icy fist cleaving through the wind and approaching to me.

He was fast. The attack looked lethal too. I wonder how much ice would it exert on my if it would hit?

"Take this, Harugaki!!!"

His fist was now only an inch from my cheek. It landed—not on my cheek but on my palm.

I had blocked it with my own hand and grabbed his fist, his ice affinity freezing my hand up to my wrist. It was cold.

I didn't flinch.

I stared at Kenji Imura who now looked baffled.

"It's impossible!" He exclaimed with surprise, "How did you block my attack? You're just a pathetic loser with only 1 Essence."

I didn't replied immediately. Instead, I waited, creating tension on him as he tried to figure out on his own. I continued looking at him with my piercing gaze.

"You're right, Imura. You're exactly right." I finally spoke, "I screwed up my evaluation when I awakened with only 1 Essence. However, there was one thing that the evaluation team failed to assess."

He swallowed hard, unable to calculate my next move. Ignoring whatever he was feeling, I tightened the grip and grabbed his hands harder.

"Do you know what my affinity is?"
