Chapter 5:Draco Divide
Hunter never forgot that day.The day his sister died.Emma,his beloved sister.They may have not been related by blood but he still felt like he had a true sister.One of the only people he cared about.
He used to hate the ideology of assassins about how they kill for money. It was greed and murder.
But now he had adapted and developed,evolving into a more bloodthirsty version of his sister to carry her footsteps.
Galvin tried to persuade Hunter to stop this path of vengeance and wrath,explaining that destruction was not the way.
But Hunter was blinded by evil. He was corrupted.The blood moon still had effects on him. To see his sister die right in front of him all because of Red…that made him more angry than ever.
And yes all of the draco clan and Touhi village were very upset that Emma had died but nobody chose to take the path that Hunter chose.
Galvin had planned to have a village meeting after lunch time.The whole of the village hurdled into a big crowd,some pushing to the from where the two main dracos were.Hunter and Galvin.
Technically,Hunter was the co leader of Touhi village but due to his wrath,Galvin would probably have never given him the official title of being a leader of anything.
"Hello fellow dragons!I hope everybody is doing well today but I have some unfortunate news."The dragons stayed silent and respectful.
"So…Red.The person who started the blood moon.The person who killed our beloved Emma. He's…the overlord-"Kraven spread the word. It went from crows to sea serpents to dragons and soon…humans and demon sorcerers would find out about the horrific news.
Some dragons fainted.Some breathed fire,frustrated with anger.This was not the typical bad news they would get and now they find out that the person who gave them chaos is way stronger than they expected?
I mean the overlord had been prophesied by the kitsunes for hundreds of years.They were very good at predicting things due to enhanced senses.But that's not the point.The point was that the overlord was said to have been the most powerful being in the universe.The overlord had limits though,weaknesses.
And when more parts of the world find out about Red being the overlord,hopefully everybody would unite to stop him and possibly the other two ILO members as well.
"We need to stop him. He's left Kraven and the sea serpents alone.They seem good.And Kraven seems like he's changing. We could form an alliance with them against the ILO."Galvin muttered,still sweating from what he had said previously.Those words shall never been uttered again.
Red is the Overlord…
"Kraven is changing?What a lie Galvin!"Hunter shouted in frustration. He shook the atmosphere with his fire wielding by increasing his body temperature.Steam evaporated as it rose higher and higher into the air.Hunter was fuming in flames,literally. He stood up and despite Galvin towering over him,the dragon was shifting.
"I am a true draconian.And you Galvin?You're a disgrace to this clan!So called leader brings shock to his people and can't even unite us all as a community."The smoke went into Galvin's eyes.The frightened draco backed up a little bit.
"Made you flinch,didn't I?"
"HUNTER STAY DOWN!"Galvin spat on the floor and then looked Hunter deep in the eyes.The other dragons watched from the distance.Tension set in.The stress in every dragon was converted into flames that were slowly building up in them like a fire getting bigger.
Hunter's eye brow locked into position.A position of fury. Of oppression.The wind was silenced by the battle of flames.Sure there was hardly any sound,but every soul in the vicinity of Touhi Village were all connected to one blazing flame that was kept in the conflict between the fallen dragon and the leader of dragons.
"Stay down?"He chuckled,desperate to manipulate the opposing enemy.His breath was warm,spreading across Galvin's face.But he wasn't going to accept the disrespect anymore.
"Hunter listen…you've grown more selfish and more greedy.Your pride.Your ego.All of this…sin.This self image needs to change Hunter.Don't go down the rogue path. Do you really want to end up like the same man who killed your sister?"
"I-I-...SHUT UP!I'M DOING THIS FOR HER,NOT AGAINST HER!"
"Are you sure about that?I think you're only saying that because you believe in it,not because it's objectively right."
"It's complex to explain."
"Tell me."
"You wouldn't get it."
"I said tell me."Hunter sighed,staring at the ground in a motionless stance.
"Back when I was a kid,around the time of the war of fury,my parents adopted a young girl named Emma who grew to be my step sister.She was an orphan and my parents felt bad so…they adopted her.She felt like she was apart of my family and she felt like a true sister despite not being related by blood.But an awful tragedy happened to my parents in a fire…"
Hunter paused for a moment.
"Do you need a moment?"Galvin questioned.
"I'll continue just let me talk."Galvin nodded,still aware of Hunter's aura growing more fierce.
"I watched my own parents burn to death. It was horrible.I had no power and neither did Emma."
"Is that the source of your power?"
"Yes…but after the burning,Emma and I went to a orphanage and grew up there until we got kicked out as adults.But Touhi Village didn't give up on us.They took us in and treated us fairly.Emma became an assassin for money and my past self was too anxious and innocent to follow the footsteps of my sister.But as of right now,I'd kill for money in a heart beat.Scratch that. I would do it for free. So there you go Galvin.That's my story."
"I don't really know what to say except for this:
If Touhi Village accepted you in the past then why won't you accept it now?Why would you turn against your own race?Your own blood?"
"I'm not turning against you and I'm not on your side."
"What…"Galvin was speechless.Well not really but those words that came out of Hunter's mouth were NOT the words he was expecting.
Poor little dragon.Galvin had grew with this little lizard just for it to turn against him over a sister that wasn't even his true family unlike the draco clan.
"Listen Hunter. If this is the path you're going to go down.Then I won't stop you.I can't.I physically and spiritually don't have the abilities to change your mind.But I will warn you.The path of wrath is the wrong path.You can still change in this very moment.But the fate of your future is determined by what you do now not by the regretful past."
"Well I won't stay down like a little lamb. I'm going to step up and defend myself in this ruptured rebellion!Now who's with me?!"Hunter roared,enraged in flames that burned brighter than any star.
"He did it…Hunter has officially been corrupted into sin…"Galvin shedded a tear that slowed rolled down his scaly skin.His eyes watered as he looked at Hunter.One by one,dragons joined Galvin in hopes of peace.
Others vowed to join Kraven,setting off in tropes,soaring the skies to search for the cursed dove.
Hunter was left in the middle of Touhi Village with dragons scattered all around him.Some whispered.Some stared.Some shouted at him.Some backed up from him.
"Approach me right now if you want to live."Short and convincing.Done. He ordered the dragons to join him using long term manipulation in short term communication.
The dragons backed up even more.But he didn't feel embarrassed. He stood there menacingly,waiting for the dragons to be attracted to him and he was right.Some did rethink their choices and joined him.This was the draco divide.A new era for dragons.They were going to be versatile using their fire wielding abilities in this rebellion,very versatile.Very creative.This war would go on as the biggest war in the history of Japan,maybe even the entire world.
