Chapter 721: The Essence of a God

Inside the Primordial Soul

Use your strengths to attack his weaknesses!

From start to finish, Luke never intended to clash head-on with the giant.

He was keenly aware of his own advantages and the giant's weaknesses. Find the opportunity, and deliver a fatal blow—this was Luke's plan.

Daoist traditions speak of three souls and spirits. The Heavenly Soul resides in the glabella, which is connected to the soul and is the fastest route into the soul world.

A flash of green light shot into the giant's brow. The imposing Primordial God inexplicably stopped. The red light in its eyes vanished, allowing the green flame to invade its body.

Inside the giant, in a formless, ethereal world, a ball of fire materialized, transforming into Luke's figure. He looked around. All he could see was empty, void space.

This guy's soul world is completely devoid of emotional color.

As expected, a Primordial God is truly different.

Luke soared forward, following his intuition. After flying for an unknown period, a wall appeared ahead—or, more accurately, an egg, a gigantic egg comparable to a planet.

"A bit interesting!"

Luke gave a faint smile. He clenched his right fist, which was wrapped in raging flame, and heavily slammed it onto the eggshell.

Break!

The flame surged out, relentlessly blasting the eggshell. With a crisp sound, crack, a fissure appeared on the surface. The crack rapidly expanded, and under the impact of the green fire, it became a two-meter-wide circular hole.

Light streamed out through the opening, faintly revealing a world bathed in golden light.

A giant, whose muscles were as strong as marble, sat in the center of this world. His right hand propped up his head, and his eyes were tightly closed, seemingly resting. The moment Luke stepped into the gigantic egg, the giant suddenly opened its eyes. Golden divine fire shot out, threatening to pierce the void.

"Human, how dare you come here."

"I had no choice. Since I couldn't defeat you normally, I had to use this method."

The giant slowly rose, its body radiating golden light. The overwhelming power was heart-stopping.

"This is my world. Everything here is subject to my command. I am the ruler here. Human, you are seeking your own death."

"That may not be the case."

Luke spread his hands. A whirlpool appeared behind him. The vortex expanded, and the Green Flame World descended silently.

The two worlds rubbed against each other and began to merge. The golden light faded, replaced by a green hue.

The anger on the giant's face vanished. Its eyes became chilling as it stared at the whirlpool.

Burning, Devouring!

This was the essence of that world. Even he, a Primordial God, felt uneasy. His soul felt as if it were being stolen, destined to become part of the Green Flame World.

"Human, who exactly are you? How can you possess such power?"

"You talk too much nonsense."

Luke raised a finger. Substantive streams of fire surged from the whirlpool, rushing toward the giant like a flood. These fire streams were a liquefied form of highly compressed green flame, containing dozens of times the energy of ordinary green flame.

Luke never dared to use this power in the real world; its corrosive nature was simply too strong. Just a single drop could cause all living things within a 50 km to lose their spiritual essence.

In the soul world, there was no such restriction. He could indulge freely.

Wherever the fire streams reached, the golden light rapidly disintegrated.

They were like savage, merciless predators, destroying everything in a frenzy. At the same time, the "dead" figures of Hanyue, the Buddha, Artemis, the Twin-Eyed Woman, and the other eight gods reappeared, charging alongside the fire streams.

The giant roared skyward. Its body rapidly grew taller, a golden armor appeared on its surface, and a colossal golden mace tens of thousands of meters long materialized in its hand. It raised the mace and smashed it downward, as if to cleave heaven and earth.

Rumble!!!

A deafening explosion echoed in the sky. The colossal mace seemed intent on splitting the world in two.

Luke snorted coldly. The fire streams contracted inward, forming a single, immensely huge fist.

Fist and mace collided, erupting in an earth-shattering aurora. The entire world shook. After several seconds, the shockwave dissipated. The destructive mace was actually stopped by the fist.

The giant's pupils contracted. It was somewhat disbelieving; it had never anticipated this situation.

Luke said coolly,

"In the real world, you could knock me to the ends of the earth with one swing. Unfortunately, this is the soul."

"I am the ruler here."

More and more fire streams surged from the whirlpool, connecting heaven and earth, surrounding the giant from all sides.

The giant swung its mace, continuously smashing the fire streams, which were like poisonous snakes. Explosions rang out one after another. The sky was dominated by green and gold, turning into an oddly colored oil painting.

Luke stood at the entrance, quietly watching everything unfold.

He did not need to intervene. The giant's strength lay in its body and divine power, but its soul had not reached that same level. It was inferior not only to the almost immortal Infant Monster but even to the Mother Body.

The battle gradually became one-sided. Facing the endless flames, the giant could not parry even if it had seven hands. Its body was entangled by the fire streams, and the mace turned an eerie greenish-black. Its hands and feet were chopped off by the Twin-Eyed Woman, leaving only its torso. It struggled fiercely and roared in anger, but the fire streams seized the chance to drill into its belly.

Its eyes turned green, and its body began to burn.

Using the giant's body as fuel, the green flame burned ever hotter.

The situation was decided.

Luke approached the giant, which had returned to its original size, and spoke without emotion,

"I still don't know your name. Tell me, what is your name?"

The giant panted heavily, struggling against the green flame while staring intently at Luke.

"Who are you, exactly?"

"I already told you. My name is Luke Shaw, and I am from the human world."

"Luke Shaw. I've never heard that name. Do I have a feud with you?"

"No."

"Then why? Why are you doing this?"

"Because I want to become a god. You possess something I need. I must kill you to get it. It's that simple."

The giant fell silent, then burst into maniacal laughter. "Good! Good! This is excellent! I thought you were fighting me for humanity's sake, but it turns out it's only for yourself."

Luke shrugged. "Is that reason insufficient?"

"Of course not. There's nothing wrong with fighting for yourself."

The giant took a ragged breath and spoke word-for-word,

"You win, human." It paused, then looked at Hanyue. "Before I die, I need to know one thing: Why did Hanyue become your subordinate?"

"Soon, you will also become my subordinate."

Luke extended his fingers like a sword and plunged them into the giant's glabella, adding mentally, "To be precise, a part of the Green Flame."

The green flame rapidly devoured the giant's body. A gigantic torch appeared in the sky, the flames burning fiercely, casting light on Luke's flickering face. No one knew what he was thinking.

A full half hour passed before the flames finally subsided.

The giant was gone, leaving two objects: a ball of light that was the culmination of its will and personality, and a constantly writhing, multicolored halo of light.

"Indeed, the Cheetah Goddess didn't lie. Something like this really exists."
