Chapter 718: Withered Moonlight
The Death of the Moon Goddess
The best hunter often appears in the guise of the prey.
Hanyue had been online for six days, but she still hadn't grasped the essence of that simple phrase.
"Your Highness, have you decided yet? If you won't do it, I'll have to ask you to die."
"Aren't you afraid of him?" Hanyue looked up, staring intently at Luke. "That is my grandfather, the Creator of the Celestial Court, the Chief of all Gods, the most powerful Primordial God."
"Of course I'm afraid of him. But precisely because I'm afraid, I must challenge him. What's the point of a life without challenges?"
"Bullshit! No one would ever believe a word you say!"
Luke sighed faintly. "Your Highness, you truly don't understand anything. If you had woken him up, you would have had a slim chance of survival. What a pity."
"A Soul Crystal completely wasted."
Luke extended his fingers like a sword and pierced her glabella. Green flame surged out from the inside, rapidly incinerating her soul.
The Moon Goddess.
Princess Hanyue.
The renowned celestial daughter, famous across the world, died a violent death just like that.
The Lord of Destruction Rises
Luke soared up, leaving the room and floating above the corpse. He executed a magic seal with his hands, striking a golden light into the corpse's brow.
"Awaken, soul slumbering in the chaos. I call you forth in my name, First Celestial Court Lord."
"Your dearest granddaughter, the Moon Goddess, Princess Hanyue, is dead. I killed her. Don't you want to avenge her?"
"The opportunity is right now."
Ohm! ! ! !
A piercing, low hum suddenly resonated around them. The sound vibrated the air, creating visible shockwaves.
"You've finally woken up, you ancient relic."
"You devoured so many gods. Now, it's time for someone else to devour you."
Luke rapidly swelled, transforming into the six-armed giant. Green flames condensed around him, forming runic armor and a fiery cloak. Simultaneously, a black light flew from a distance, which Luke caught with one hand—it was the supreme divine artifact that had slain countless gods, the Soul Devouring Bow.
He drew the bow and aimed. The arrowhead focused a destructive column of black-red light.
At the critical moment, the corpse raised its right hand to block the attack.
Boom!
The two forces collided. The flesh of the giant's hand instantly vanished, the bone shattered, and its vitality was stolen by the black light, leaving a putrid smell. The overflowing energy swept outward, shaking the entire Celestial Court world.
The corpse let out a howl of pain. Blood-red light emerged in its eye sockets, like a massive, awakening beast. It roared towards the heavens, the sound wave surging forward, causing the entire Celestial Court world to tremble.
Sensing something was wrong, Diana quickly carried Luke's physical body and flew higher into the sky.
The mountain shook violently. Rocks constantly fell, and the ground split open in dense, interconnected, spiderweb-like fissures. With another enraged roar, a mountain hundreds of meters tall suddenly exploded. A giant, dust-covered hand emerged from the underground abyss. The hand was so enormous it resembled a small mountain.
"What is Luke doing?" Diana thought.
The trip to the Underworld had just concluded, and now he was conjuring another giant. Wasn't his goal to achieve godhood? Why was he causing such an enormous disturbance?
The giant braced one hand on the ground and crawled out of the abyss onto the surface. When it straightened its body, the entire world seemed poised to collapse beneath its feet.
It was simply too vast. Looking up from its base, one could barely see the top. It was hard to imagine how the Earth in ancient times could sustain such a colossal being.
Luke, even in his giant form, looked like a peanut compared to it.
"What should I call you, ancient Lord of the Celestial Court?"
Luke drew his bow and aimed. "How about I just call you a dead man!"
The bowstring vibrated!
Black light surged out, piercing the giant's shoulder and disappearing into the horizon.
Roar! ! ! ! !
The giant roared to the sky. It lifted its right leg and slammed it forcefully onto the ground. A yellowish-brown light wave expanded outward. Wherever the wave reached, the earth and stones seemed to come alive, soaring into the air. Some transformed into stone dragons with dual wings, some became stone giants, and a portion turned into sharp spikes.
The world seemed to change completely. Everywhere the eye could see was churning earth.
The giant was the Lord of the Earth.
Diana felt a shiver run down her spine. After a moment of silence, she followed Luke's instructions and flew further away, toward higher altitude.
With a single stomp, the world was altered. Countless giants and massive dragons gathered around the colossal figure, roaring menacingly at Luke.
"A Primordial God, indeed."
"What remarkable power."
Among the numerous deities Luke had encountered in the Underworld, apart from the Infant Monster and the Mother Body, none possessed such immense power. Even Dom, the God of Division, was slightly inferior.
No wonder the subsequent Celestial Court Lords wanted to resurrect him. If he were restored to his full power, he might truly unify the seven great pantheons and become the singular King of all Gods.
At that moment, the giant opened its mouth and spewed a columnar blast of yellowish-brown light.
Luke instinctively dodged to the side. The next moment, he suddenly felt something was wrong. He turned to look at his left hand; his arm had turned yellowish-brown and was beginning to petrify.
Even a soul can be petrified!
Luke made an instantaneous decision: he severed his left arm. The stone arm fell to the ground and was swallowed by the churning earth.
"I shouldn't have underestimated you."
Luke lowered his eyelids, his expression more serious than ever before. "If you don't mind, please tell me your name."
His answer was an overwhelming army of stone soldiers. Luke scoffed, drew his bow, and fired. The black light erupted into a fan-shaped blast. Wherever it swept, the army vanished into nothingness. At the same time, he executed a magic seal, and dark clouds appeared above, quickly expanding outward.
The giant raised its right hand and pointed toward the sky.
The lightning circling in the clouds seemed to be drawn by some force, converging into its palm from all directions, continuously compressing until it formed a spear composed purely of thunder and lightning.
Luke froze, then gave a self-deprecating laugh.
"I almost forgot. The Master of Celestial Strategy was founded by you. Of course you have a counter-method. I was overestimating myself."
"Soul Sealing Technique, Suppress!"
Luke executed a spell. Countless golden chains flew out from behind him. The giant swung the spear downward with force. The thunderous cloud sea surged out, and dense electrical arcs precisely struck the weak points of the chains. Dozens of chains instantly disintegrated.
Simultaneously, a roar came from the ground. Hundreds of gigantic chains, shimmering with yellowish-brown light, burst forth from beneath the earth. The chains flew across the sky like colossal dragons, completely surrounding Luke.
These chains not only surpassed the previous ones in quantity, length, and thickness, but they also possessed the Soul Sealing Technique and the Petrification power.
Luke shook his head.
"Indeed, the original is the original. No imitation can compare. Today's trip was certainly worthwhile. In that case, I shall use my own power."
Luke raised his hand and plunged it into his own heart. With a forceful twist, a vortex expanded outward, revealing a world fiercely burning with green fire.
An infinite number of undead souls surged out from the world. Their bodies were burning. Their souls were burning. They were, in essence, fire itself.
A sea of fire occupied the sky, encroaching upon the earth, clearly delineating two separate worlds: the fire against the giant's yellowish-brown earth.
The battle had officially begun.
