Chapter 714: Princess Hanyue?
A Heated Discussion
As the Moon Goddess, Hanyue's wisdom was not to be underestimated. It took her only ten minutes to master the basics of using a computer.
She used her soul power to control the mouse and keyboard, searching online for information.
Luke and Diana, meanwhile, returned to the bedroom. After setting up a barrier, they resumed their uninhibited, happy life. After their exertions, the sweat-drenched pair nestled together. Diana couldn't help but ask,
"What exactly is going on between you and her?"
"I remember very clearly that Hanyue burned away her life force to unleash a fatal blow, and then she vanished into smoke. She should be dead. Why is she here?"
"I saved her."
Luke reached out, stroking the woman's smooth back. Seeing the shift in her expression, he had to explain,
"It's not what you think. I saved her purely for the Celestial Court."
"Hanyue is the younger sister of the Celestial Court Lord. Her status is extraordinary, and she holds many secrets. I need her help to achieve godhood."
"So you hid her away—a classic case of 'Golden House Hidden Beauty'!"
Luke pinched her nose. "Why are you using idioms? 'Golden House Hidden Beauty'? That's not what this is."
Diana scoffed.
"I know you too well. There are so many Celestial Court gods in the Underworld, yet you ignored everyone else and chose Hanyue. Don't tell me you have no feelings for her."
"Time will tell."
Luke couldn't be bothered with more excuses. He flipped her over and pounced.
"You... again?"
"Compared to shopping, I'd rather die of exhaustion in bed."
The Conflict of Ideologies
The next day at noon, Luke yawned as he walked out of the bedroom after the clock struck twelve.
Hanyue was still sitting in front of the computer, maintaining the exact same posture as last night.
"Where do you want to go today?"
"Longhu Mountain."
Luke frowned.
"Why do you want to go there?"
Hanyue floated away from the chair and approached Luke. "The sorcery those Taoist priests use is very familiar. I want to go and observe them."
"No, I can't take you there."
"Why?"
"It's too much trouble."
"Because of me?"
"No, because of me. Do you know what my identity is now?"
Hanyue nodded slightly. "The world's richest man. Many people are your fans, worshipping and admiring you. Beyond that, you also conceal a great deal of power that is unknown to others."
"It seems you haven't been wasting time on the computer."
Luke lit a cigarette and took a deep drag. "Due to certain reasons, my relationship with Longhu Mountain isn't friendly. And your identity is quite sensitive. If the two of us get involved there, it will definitely alert the top leaders of China."
"That is a result I wish to avoid."
Hanyue looked puzzled. "With your power, are you afraid of those mortals?"
"It's not fear; it's rules. All of human civilization operates under a set of rules. Breaking them will inevitably lead to a backlash. I do not want to, and will not, become the culprit who destroys everything."
Hanyue appeared thoughtful. When Diana walked out of the bedroom, Hanyue spoke up,
"You are Wonder Woman!"
Diana looked at Luke, who gave a denying shrug.
"I didn't say anything. She guessed it herself."
Hanyue smiled faintly. "You are both very strange. You possess power that surpasses the gods, yet you choose to live as mortals and fight for them. Is it worth it?"
Diana retorted angrily,
"Didn't you all fight the Underworld for the sake of humanity?"
"No, you are mistaken," Hanyue stated calmly. "That war was for ourselves. What do the lives or deaths of mortals have to do with the gods?"
The air became eerily quiet.
Diana narrowed her eyes, and a red light—pure, surging murderous intent—filled her pupils.
Luke interjected,
"If I recall correctly, most of the Celestial Court gods originated as mortals. If you didn't care about humanity, how did you expect those of humble origin to remain loyal to the Celestial Court?"
"You are mistaken again. Only those with divine blood could cultivate the Celestial Court's methods. The mortals who ascended to the God Realm were already the blood descendants of the gods."
Luke laughed, an undertone of mockery in his voice. "So, the Shaw family also has a glorious history, then."
"You are different. I initially thought you were a Celestial Court descendant, but after observing your body, I realized you are not. You have no divine blood, yet you can cultivate these methods. How did you do it?"
Luke shrugged.
"I'm a genius—unrivaled, one-of-a-kind. You should be grateful I was born in the present. If I had been born a few thousand years ago, I, a mere mortal, would have been the doom of the gods."
As he spoke the final sentence, the air suddenly thickened. An unimaginable wave of soul pressure slammed into Hanyue, pinning her to the floor like a crushing mountain. She couldn't move.
"There is a limit to a person's patience. I tolerated you because you helped me once. Affection is a consumable. Don't try any more of your petty tricks. If you anger me, you will regret it for all eternity."
Hmph!
A low growl, like thunder, escaped him.
Hanyue clutched her head, crying out in pain. The single strike nearly shattered her soul-body.
Diana parted her lips but ultimately chose to remain silent. She had previously suspected a romantic entanglement between the two, but now she saw it wasn't the case at all. Luke was vicious and cruel to his enemies, but he was always kind to his own; he never behaved like this with her.
The Bargain for the Flesh
After that lesson, Hanyue changed significantly. The look of aristocratic arrogance vanished, and she became completely subdued.
The source of the change wasn't just Luke, but the mortal world as well.
The changes in the human world were too vast. Those mortals, whom the gods considered filthy, ugly, and depraved, had actually mastered the techniques of flying through the sky and escaping the earth, and they possessed superweapons capable of destroying a planet.
The age led by the gods had become history; now was the age of human technology and civilization.
The Celestial Court and Mount Olympus were now merely parts of myths and legends; no one believed they had ever truly existed.
Learning all this, Hanyue felt a deep sense of loss. The wheel of history had rolled forward, leaving no ground for the Celestial Court to survive.
Rebuilding the Celestial Court?
It was nothing more than an unattainable dream.
Time silently slipped by. Unknowingly, six days passed. Luke approached Hanyue, who was staring blankly at the computer.
"Well, have you made up your mind?"
Hanyue murmured, "Will you really help me rebuild the Celestial Court?"
"What do you think?"
"You're lying to me."
"That's not important. The key is reality, and you should know that yourself."
Hanyue lowered her head, a heartbreakingly bitter look on her face. After a moment of silence, she spoke.
"I will take you to the Celestial Court ruins, and I will try everything I can to help you achieve your wish, but I have one condition."
"Say it."
"You must promise me that after the matter is concluded, you will help me restore my physical body."
"Are you serious?"
Luke was thrown off balance. "Your body is long gone; all that remains is your soul. How can I restore it? How about this: I'll find a woman for you, and you can take over her body."
"No. I only want my own body." She paused, then added, "I searched online. There's a technology called cloning that supposedly can perfectly replicate a body based on cells. Is that true?"
Luke nodded. "That's right, the technology exists. The problem is that your body is gone."
"But my blood is still here. I will learn cloning technology. I will resurrect myself."
