Chapter 22 - How to enjoy vacation

I came to visit Rice Shower and her parents during summer vacation, fully intending to stay quietly in the background. I didn't want to intrude on their family time—I was just the trainer, after all.

But that plan didn't last long.

Her parents kept saying things like, "You're like our second daughter," and treated me with such warmth and generosity that I couldn't help but feel… spoiled.

"Viola, we're going to the beauty salon today!"

I still haven't gotten used to how effortlessly rich people spend money.

Today, "Mother"—yes, I've started calling her that because she insisted I treat her like a parent—took me and three others to a luxurious skin-care and relaxation salon. Oops.

I do have massage skills as a trainer, and I occasionally massage Rice-chan after training. So I figured this would be a good chance to learn from professionals and improve my technique. So I let myself be dragged along.

It's not that I dislike massages. I'm just not particularly interested in skincare. But if I can use the skills to help Rice, it's worth it. The price, though…

When I found out it cost ¥100,000 per person, I nearly fainted. I'm just a junior trainer! That kind of money makes me want to run back to the dorm and hide.

This summer resort caters to the ultra-rich. Everything is two digits above what I'd ever imagine paying. I usually try to decline politely and stay in my room reading training papers, but Mother and Father always hug me and say, "You're our daughter now—let us pamper you." And I get swept away every time.

I didn't have parents in this life, so being treated like family… it's hard to resist.

Still, I worry about how I'll ever repay this kindness. I'll just have to work extra hard as a trainer.

"Cleaning looks tough, but this massage oil is nice. I think I'll use it for Rice-chan. Which scent did you like?"

"Rice liked the rose scent."

"Then let's try buying it… oh wow, that price…"

The salon was excellent—worth every yen, honestly. I picked up a lot of tips from chatting with the staff, and I'm confident I can apply them back at Tracen Academy..

But the consumables? Outrageously expensive. Especially the rose-scented massage oil Rice chose—it was in a whole different price tier.

I hesitated, but Mother didn't.

"Excuse me, please deliver the rose massage oil later."

"Mother!?"

"You'll use it for Rice, right? No need to hold back."

"Mom, buy this one too. Viola-chan loves lavender."

"Well then, I'll take some of this oil as well."

"Mother!?"

Buying for Rice is one thing—but why for me too!?

Before I could protest, she'd already placed the order. That's just how things go around here.

By the way, I ended up giving both Father and Mother oil massages during my stay. They were absolutely delighted.

Well at least I was able to give something back.
