Chapter 19 - The beginning of summer vacation

As summer vacation approached, a problem immediately surfaced.

I didn't have any clothes.

Well… technically, I had one frilly outfit that Rice Shower bought for me. But I hadn't worn it since that day. Aside from that, my wardrobe consisted of school uniforms, gym clothes, and standard-issue underwear.

I didn't even own nightwear. And sleeping in just underwear at someone else's house? That was a hard no.

"I've already heard the story!"

"You haven't heard anything!"

"Okay, we're going shopping!!"

Rice-chan, somehow attuned to my silent panic, swept me away before I could protest.

I knew what this meant: my casual clothes would soon be filled with whatever cute styles Rice liked. But when your sponsor insists, you don't argue. Sadly.

Wearing the new clothes she picked out for me, I joined Rice-chan on a trip to meet her parents.

It made sense, really. I'm her trainer, they're funding my wardrobe—it was only polite to greet them properly.

Just as I was wondering how we'd get there, a sleek black luxury car pulled up at the academy. Actually, several cars arrived—probably picking up other students. I hesitated, nervous about stepping into something so high-class.

But one of the cars was clearly for Rice-chan. And since I was her trainer, I was expected to ride along.

I sank into the plush leather seat, trying not to fidget. Maybe a drink would help calm my nerves…

"If you spill anything in this car, you'll have to pay for it…"

"Then I'll pay with my body."

"Really…"

Rice-chan grinned at her own joke. I really do hope she was kidding. Please let it be a joke!

After a smooth two-hour drive into the mountains, we arrived at a villa district that radiated elegance.

This was the place.

Standing in front of a pristine white building were a dashing older gentleman and a graceful horse girl.

"Father! Mother!"

Rice ran to them and leapt into their arms.

Of course—they were her parents.

I stepped out of the car slowly, thanking the driver and trying not to trip over my own nerves.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Viola Regina."

"You're Rice's trainer I assume. I'm her father. And thank you for everything."

"I'm Lilac Point, her mother. Thank you for taking care of our daughter."

"No, really… she has taken care of me in more ways than I can count."

Sure, I had a training plan in place. But Rice-chan handled most of the day-to-day—meals, clothes, even emotional support. I couldn't deny it: I was actually the one being looked after.

"We have been standing out here too long. Let's head inside."

"Thank you for having me."

I followed them into the villa, trying not to gape at the grandeur.
