"Eric?" Alexia whispers my name. "Don't ever hurt him."
I act like I didn't hear her, because I know what she means. Max wouldn't be able to overcome it and Alexia would hunt me to the end of the world for hurting him. "I'm gonna lie down for a bit. I'm tired." I nod in her general direction. "See you later."
I nearly flee out of the room. Not being able to face Alexia, to face myself, to question my own emotions and feelings. I sprint up the stairs and lock myself in the room next to Max's. The bed is still there from where it was placed on my first day here. I don't usually come in here other than to get my clothes.
I climb onto the bed and slide under the covers.
