Chapter 3 - Woe Unto Conor

Katrina was devastated by the relationship saga, which pierced her heart like a dagger.

She became so preoccupied with her thoughts that she lost track of her movement.

"Screw you, girl. Keep a close eye on your destination.

I almost killed you.

If you are tired of life, go jump into the Atlantic Ocean.

Do not get me involved in your mess," the man yelled at Katrina for getting in the way.

"OMG! I sincerely apologize.

I was not paying attention." She apologized for not realizing there was a car behind her. It took several minutes for her to regain consciousness.

"Sorry? Is that all you have to say?

Have you just apologized?" The man got out of his car and rushed over to Katrina, furious.

"I nearly knocked you down. Of course, you already know what that means. I will be in jail this Christmas.

Why don't I show you how sorry you should be?" He warned Katrina.

As though that weren't enough, he proceeded to drag Katrina's ear and pull her hair.

"Do not try this with me again; if you do, your parents will plan your funeral. You are a pathetic jerk.

Get that heck out of my sight." He screamed and threw her to the ground like a typical thief.

During the oppression, no one came to her rescue. Everyone looked away as if it were none of their business.

Katrina stood up quietly and walked home without fighting.

She decided to let go for her peace of mind.

Walters has already ruined her day with the romance saga. Adding this stranger to her problems will only worsen them.

"What happened to you? What is the reason for the stains on your clothing?

Did you get into a fight with anyone?" Kelly inquired after seeing his daughter return home with her clothes covered in mud.

"What are you concerned about? Just allow me to be.

You are not concerned about my feelings." She ignored her father and walked straight to her room.

She reappeared just minutes later. "Make a call to your friend. Tell him I am interested in the arranged marriage,"

She returned inside, refusing to let her father ask any questions.

He was ecstatic but astounded by her response.

She has no idea how long he has been waiting for her to say something.

"It is quite overwhelming. When I told her about the arranged marriage, we almost fought.

So what changed? I thought she brought up her relationship with Walter. Did he end his relationship with her? I want answers!" Kelly echoed.

He dashed to her room, hoping to find an answer, but she closed the door.

"Katrina, please, I want to speak with you." Kelly knocked on the metallic door, requesting that she step outside, yet she refused.

"Leave me alone, Dad.

I would rather be left alone. I believed you wanted this to work. Do you feel satisfied now?

You are not interested in me," she said, weeping like a young widow, as she turned down her father's visit.

"Stop saying that. Of course, you are aware that I care about you.

I do not want your children to be impoverished," Kelly begged.

He tried to explain why he was pressuring her into accepting the arranged marriage.

He tried everything he could, but she would not leave.

After pleading for several minutes, Kelly gave up and left the doorstep.

"I feel ridiculous and guilty. Am I making the right choice? Will she regret it?" Those were the questions that ran through his mind.

Kelly knows he made a mistake, but he does not have a choice.

The task has already been completed.

If he had a second chance, he would have let Katrina make her choice.

But it is too late now! He can do nothing to prevent the wedding from taking place.

"You can't go inside.

The CEO gave strict instructions not to allow any visitors to enter," the secretary said, blocking the door entrance.

"Are you sick? Do you realize who you are speaking with?" The visitor boasted.

"Sir, I am only following strict orders.

If you do not comply, I will have to call security to remove you from this office like a common criminal.

Do the right thing and depart immediately!" She warned the arrogant visitor.

"Now I am convinced you have the intelligence of a toad." The stranger pushed the secretary away and stormed into the CEO's office.

"What is going on, Dad? Why would you ask your secretary to prevent me from visiting you?

I have never been so embarrassed in my entire life. What have I done to deserve this?" Conor challenged his Father.

"Sir, I tried…" The secretary tried to explain, but George stopped her with an upraised hand and dismissed her.

"Hello, my son. I am sure you have the information." George mocked his son with a mischievous laugh.

"Wow! So it is you. You have frozen my account. I am unable to purchase anything.

Dad, you are as bad as the devil. How could you possibly do that to your first son?

Heir apparent to your billionaire empire," Conor exclaimed, slamming the desk with his hands.

"You will soon be excommunicated from my affairs, and your brother, Tony, will take your place as the heir apparent.

However, you can prevent this.

Just say yes and marry Kelly's daughter, and I will put an end to this agony. Her father just called.

They will soon join us. His daughter just agreed. Isn't that stunning?" George smiled brightly.

"This is very typical of a poor family. I did not expect her to turn down the offer.

I cannot give Tony my birthright." Conor moaned.

After a thorough thought, he finally agreed to marry Katrina.

George was overjoyed and gave Conor kudos for choosing wisely.

A moment later, Kelly and his daughter Katrina entered.

"You were the only topic of conversation before your arrival. Please take a seat," George welcomed them.

Unlike him, Conor was unconcerned. He bent his head to concentrate on his phone.

Without hesitation, Conor lifted his head.

The moment he saw Katrina, he screamed. "You? Why in the world are you here?"

"Have the two of you ever met before?" Kelly and his friend asked, both of them staring at themselves.

Katrina and Conor were not prepared to speak.

George slammed the desk in exasperation, saying, "Someone should start talking now before I send you two out of my office.

I am not talking to myself, am I?"

Eventually, Katrina said, "Okay, I will talk."

"Your son nearly ran me over with his car today.

My clothes were covered in mud when I got home. He attacked me in public, too." She narrated.

As Katrina explained, Conor leaned forward and nearly struck her in the face.

To prevent Conor from giving Katrina a black eye as a gift, Kelly had to step in.

They are not married, but they are already sworn enemies.
