It is another day with new hopes and dreams. Katrina has not recovered from being sold into an arranged marriage without her consent.
Now she is on the verge of losing Walters, the only man who ever loved and cared for her, to satisfy her father's selfish desires.
"He even threatened me with suicide if I disagreed with his decision. This is bigger than I am." She ruminated.
She has been out of bed for over an hour, speaking to her reflection in the mirror and seeking answers that will never be found.
"I need to find a way to clean up this mess. I am an adult now. I cannot let my father dominate my life. I am done with this nonsense.
I am done acting out his script. I am now in charge!" She spoke up confidently as she dressed up.
She dashed to the living room, where she discovered her father watching a television show.
She tried to smile as she said, "Good morning, Dad," but he ignored her and focused on the television.
"Dad, I greeted you and you ignored me. What is the issue?" She muttered as she leaned forward.
"Take your filthy hands off me. I heard you the first time, but chose not to respond.
Let the battle begin, as you have already decided to wage war against me. Let us see who wins," Kelly exclaimed.
He then walked away from the living room, abandoning his favourite television show.
"Wait a moment! I wonder where my father is. I bet this is not him." Katrina was perplexed as she watched her father zoom away, angry.
That was the first time she would have seen him in this situation.
Kelly remained cool-headed even in his darkest moments.
But Katrina no longer knows who her father has become.
"Nothing can prevent me from marrying my ideal man, Walters. Not even my father.
I do not mind what he says or thinks about my decision.
If anything goes wrong, I will still be held responsible. So why should I let someone else decide my life?" She makes the declaration.
She hissed and walked out of the living room and headed to Walters' flat, which was only a short distance away from her house.
Her father called her phone several times, but she ignored him. She refused to let him stop her from going to mend her broken relationship with Walters.
As she approaches Walter's flat, she hears a voice inside her. "Go back to your home. It is not worth the fight. Accept the billionaire son as a husband."
"Accept the billionaire son as a husband?" Katrina was caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.
"Am I making the right decision? We are poor and powerless.
Our annual rent is due. I would rather not be kicked out of the house.
What will people say? What will people say?" Katrina ponders.
She can't stop racking her head to come up with a perfect solution to her problem.
Deep down, she knows the billionaire will secure her future, but she has never met him.
"Why marry someone you do not know, let alone love?
What if he already has a girlfriend? I will stick with Walters. It is just him or no one."
Another thought crossed her mind: "I will not be moved by material things."
She was deep in thought when she noticed someone who looked exactly like Walters walked past her.
She bolted after him. "Wait a moment. Is that Walters?"
The individual ignored him and walked faster. Katrina finally recognized the stranger when she took a final look at him.
"It is him!" She dashed towards this individual.
"Are you pursuing me? What the heck do you expect from me?" Walters flared up as he turned to face her.
"I recognized you. Why are you trying to avoid me?
I have done nothing wrong."
She tried to get closer to Walters, and he tossed her away as though she never mattered to him.
Walters acted like a stranger.
He made Katrina question herself if she was losing her mind.
"You forget things quickly. Perhaps I should remind you of the arranged marriage that your father convinced you to accept.
Did you think I forgot? Nope, unlike you, who has a toad's IQ," Walters yelled at her. He also warned Katrina to stay away from him.
She laughed and looked sideways to see if he was referring to her.
"It is incorrect of you to conclude without asking questions. You were actually there.
You were a witness to everything that occurred. Did I give permission? You are my shining knight.
No one can ever surpass you in my estimation. Even if you were a twin, I would choose you.
I would like to play the lead role in your life. But guess what?
If I had to decide between you and a diamond, I would smash it as a rock because your love is priceless.
It is more valuable than any precious stone," Katrina boasted, assuring Walters of their relationship.
He remained unconvinced.
He has a feeling she is also acting for the camera.
"I think you are telling a lie. What do you know? I need a break to reflect on this relationship.
Your father has a negative attitude toward me. He does not want me in his house.
This relationship is nothing more than a myth to me. Perhaps they are separated by a week or two." Walters made the shocking announcement.
"You are kidding, right? We have been dating since we were in college. This mess is something we can fix.
We have had much worse problems, but we solved them.
That is what genuine love is all about. We learn to forgive and tolerate one another." Katrina dropped to her knees.
She held Walter's legs and begged him to stay, but he refused and moved sideways, causing her to fall.
"I am unable to. I simply cannot do this anymore. We require a break to figure things out.
Send greetings to your father, even if he never wants to see me again," he said.
He walked away from Katrina without saying goodbye, while she remained on the ground, helplessly and hopelessly watching.
There was nothing she could do to stop him.
