Chapter 34 – When Fear Speaks Love
Clara sat on a sofa in the dimly lit room, hands trembling. Victor hadn't hurt her — not physically. But the psychological game was worse.
He kept talking about Ethan.
About betrayal, money, and pride.
But what hurt most was how easily Victor described the CEO she thought she knew — cold, ruthless, unfeeling.
Was that still who Ethan was?
Hours later, the door burst open. Damien was the first through, gun raised. Ethan followed right behind him, fury etched in every line of his face.
"Clara!"
She stood, tears blurring her vision. "Ethan!"
He crossed the room in three strides, pulling her into his arms. For a heartbeat, everything else fell away — the fear, the danger, even Victor's smirk as he slipped out through a side door.
"You came," she whispered.
"Always," he murmured, voice rough.
And though neither said the word, both knew what it meant.
