Chapter 37 – Blood and Business
Later that week, Clara found herself facing another surprise guest __this time from her side of the family.
"Clara!" cried Noah, her younger brother, as he hugged her tightly outside the company lobby.
"Noah! What are you doing here?"
"Mom sent me to check on you. She saw the news about your kidnapping , again."
Ethan walked up at that moment, adjusting his tie. Noah stiffened, protective instinct flaring.
"So this is the guy," he said flatly. "The CEO husband who can't keep my sister out of danger."
Clara groaned. "Noah, not now."
But Ethan surprised them both. "You're right," he said calmly. "I haven't done enough to protect her. But I'm trying."
Noah blinked. He hadn't expected that kind of honesty.
He frowned, then sighed. "Fine. I'll stay a few days. Make sure she's okay."
Damien, who had been eavesdropping, whispered to Clara, "Your brother's got more guts than most executives I know."
She rolled her eyes. "Don't encourage him."
