Chapter 24 – Fire and Rescue
By the time Ethan and Damien reached the docks, night had swallowed the city.
Rain lashed the streets, and the sea growled beneath the storm.
"Your men ready?" Ethan asked.
"Locked and loaded," Damien replied, pulling a gun from his jacket. "Don't worry, I'll try not to shoot your hair gel."
Ethan gave him a death stare. "Focus."
They breached the warehouse together glass shattering, bullets whizzing.
Ethan's only thought was Clara.
He found her bound to the pole, her eyes wide when she saw him.
"Ethan!" she cried.
He cut the ropes with trembling hands. "You're safe now."
Behind them, Aiden stumbled from the shadows.
"Don't hurt him!" Clara yelled as guards raised their weapons.
Ethan froze. "What did you just say?"
"He saved me!" she said, voice breaking. "He helped me escape before you came."
Ethan's jaw tightened. The man who'd taken her was the same man who protected her.
Nothing made sense anymore.
