Chapter 22 – A Dangerous Alliance
"Don't tell me you're suggesting we work together," Damien said as he threw a folder on Ethan's desk.
"Do you want to find her or not?" Ethan snapped.
He hated it — needing Damien's help. But Damien's underground network was wider than any police system.
Damien leaned back in his chair, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You must love her a lot to ask me this."
Ethan glared at him. "This isn't about love. It's about responsibility."
"Sure," Damien smirked. "Keep telling yourself that, Mr. Iceberg."
Ethan ignored the jab, scanning through the intel.
The kidnapper's car was traced to a warehouse at the docks — a property registered under LynxCorp, a shell company known for corporate espionage.
Damien's expression darkened. "LynxCorp's been sniffing around both our businesses for months. This could be bigger than just a kidnapping."
For the first time in years, the two men shook hands.
Ethan didn't trust Damien — not entirely — but Clara's face kept flashing in his mind, her laughter, the way she rolled her eyes at his arrogance.
He'd burn the world down to bring her back.
