Chapter 15 - My wife is rich

Although I already knew Lin Ruoxi was incredibly wealthy, I hadn't expected her garage to actually consist of two floors, housing no fewer than ten luxury cars. From Mercedes-Benz SLKs and Audi R8s to Corvettes, and even Lamborghinis and Maseratis, everything was perfectly adequate. Of course, Yang Chen wouldn't choose a supercar to drive out. A car like that would only last a few tens of thousands of kilometers. It wasn't just that it could only run that long, but driving it regularly would be too conspicuous and wasteful. Except when racing, it wouldn't even reflect the speed of these cars.

"Miss, you don't usually use these cars. They were all gifts from business friends. Miss, you don't really drive them. If you like one, you can just take it." Aunt Wang said with a smile.

Yang Chen had always been curious about his beautiful wife's job, but he was too embarrassed to ask Aunt Wang. After all, if she didn't even know, their marriage would be too bizarre. So he decided to find time to ask Lin Ruoxi herself. After walking around, Yang Chen finally spotted a fairly normal coupe, a cream-colored BMW M3. This type of car was essentially the pinnacle of city coupes, with a top speed of a terrifying 300 kilometers per hour. However, in Lin Ruoxi's garage, no other car stood out more than this M3.

"Let's take this one," Yang Chen said, pointing at the M3.

Wang Ma said somewhat doubtfully, "Uncle, why don't you pick a better one? This seems to be the cheapest car here."

Cars over 1.2 million yuan were the cheapest. Yang Chen explained with a smile, "Let's take this one. It's not good to have a car that's too conspicuous. It's better to be low-key than to show off your wealth."

"No wonder the young lady fell for you. You have a unique personality. These days, young people are all about competing for wealth, but you're all about hiding it." Wang Ma nodded with satisfaction, then retrieved the BMW keys from a corner of the garage and handed them to Yang Chen. Yang Chen skillfully climbed into the car, and the automatic garage door rolled up high. After bidding farewell to Aunt Wang, the car shot out of the garage like an arrow.

Aunt Wang watched Yang Chen drive away silently, sighing softly and muttering to herself, "Young people these days, I really don't understand..."

After more than six months of not driving, Yang Chen felt that his driving skills hadn't deteriorated. The M3's excellent performance was fully demonstrated on the roads of Zhonghai City. He weaved through the traffic with impeccable precision, maintaining speeds above 100 kilometers per hour, which seemed incredibly fast in the city. Occasionally, a few traffic police would notice Yang Chen's excessive speed, but they wouldn't react and would just whiz by.

Within half an hour, Yang Chen arrived back at his rented apartment. Once upstairs, Yang Chen suddenly realized his door was open. His brows furrowed, his first reaction being that someone had been inside, but upon entering, he saw the familiar Li Jingjing!

Li Jingjing wore an embroidered white shirt and a cool emerald-green gauze skirt. Her long, black hair was tied into a ponytail, a few strands swaying in the breeze from the window, giving her a refined and elegant appearance.

At this moment, the girl was diligently cleaning with a mop. Although Yang Chen's room was sparsely populated, it was still quite dusty.

Seeing Yang Chen return, Li Jingjing revealed a hint of joy, her face flushed from her labor, like a summer elf. "Brother Yang, you're back!"

Yang Chen felt a warm surge of emotion. Two months ago, when Li Jingjing wasn't at her internship, she often cleaned for him. Now that she was back and had a job, she still came back to clean the house during lunch break. Yang Chen felt a surge of guilt and pity for the girl. He stepped forward and stroked Li Jingjing's smooth ponytail. "Jingjing, don't come clean anymore. I'm moving."

"Moving?" Li Jingjing was stunned. "Brother Yang, are you leaving Zhonghai?" the girl asked eagerly. Yang Chen thought about it, and finally decided to tell the truth, "No, but I'm married and living with my wife, but still in Zhonghai."

Li Jingjing's face suddenly turned pale, and a few tears welled up in her beautiful eyes, but she immediately lowered her head to wipe them away. Only her shaking shoulders made her feel uneasy at the moment.

After a long silence, Li Jingjing finally raised her head, her eyes red as she forced a smile, "Congratulations, Brother Yang, my sister-in-law... must be very beautiful..."

Yang Chen felt a little choked up, but a short pain was better than a long one. He felt that Li Jingjing had to face this moment, so he could only harden his heart. When he heard Li Jingjing's question, Lin Ruoxi's captivating face flashed through his mind, and he subconsciously nodded. A flash of despair flashed across Li Jingjing's eyes, but then she seemed to calm down. With a bitter smile, she said, "Brother Yang, you're so mean. You didn't even tell us about such a big thing. But... I still want to wish you all the best. I... I'm leaving first..."

Yang Chen saw Li Jingjing's back, like a frightened little rabbit, walking down the stairs. He felt a pang of pain in his heart and quickly said, "Jingjing, I'll visit you at No. 1 Middle School later. Work hard."

Li Jingjing paused, responded softly, and quickly ran downstairs.

After waiting for a long time after Li Jingjing left, Yang Chen pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a few deep puffs. The sadness in his eyes gradually dissipated, and then a hint of fierceness appeared.

Yang Chen was very confident in his memory. He had definitely locked the door when he left. In other words, for Li Jingjing to get in, it must have been forced open by someone else. But who would come to his house for no reason? Yang Chen thought of two possibilities: the first was that some secret state department had already begun investigating him, but that seemed illogical. If they really wanted to take action against him, they would have just come directly at him; that would have been more direct and effective. The second possibility was that Chen Feng, with whom the conflict had escalated just two days ago, had realized that even the police couldn't do anything to him, so it was inevitable that he would consider other avenues.

"You can't cry until you see the coffin..." Yang Chen muttered to himself expressionlessly, throwing down his cigarette butt and starting to pack his things.

Yang Chen sorted through the large boxes in the room, stuffing some clothes and pants into an old bag. He then went to the bathroom and punched a whitewashed wall with all his might, instantly creating a hole in the wall.

Yang Chen retrieved a black, palm-sized wooden box and placed it inside the bag containing the clothes and pants.

After finishing everything, Yang Chen walked out of the apartment building and glanced back at the old house he had lived in for over half a year, as if to imprint this image deep in his mind. After another long drive, Yang Chen returned to his villa in Longjingyuan. After parking the car, Yang Chen entered the villa via the automatic elevator. As soon as he entered, he saw a beautiful figure reclining on the sofa in the living room. A newly filmed Korean drama was playing on the huge TV screen in front of her.

Her long black hair was tied up high, and her slender, fair neck was like jade. Her back alone filled him with a thousand thoughts. Who else could it be but his newlywed wife, Lin Ruoxi?

At this moment, Lin Ruoxi was completely absorbed in the lingering scenes of the Korean drama on TV, and she didn't even hear the sound of Yang Chen returning home.

Yang Chen smiled playfully. He had never expected that his cold and aloof wife actually liked to watch romantic Korean dramas. While finding it amusing, his previously suppressed mood instantly lifted. He walked forward and suddenly hugged Lin Ruoxi's shoulders, "Good wife, give your husband a kiss!"
