Chapter 56 - # Chapter 56: Across the Battlefield

# Chapter 56: Across the Battlefield

After the men in black suits sent by Reiji Akaba took over Dennis, Yūga Hōzumi rushed toward the Ancient Ruins area.

After easily dealing with a few clueless Minions along the way, Yūga Hōzumi encountered an interesting person.

"Hey, are you going to the Battlefield near the Ancient Ruins to provide support? Then count this great one in!" The newcomer had short golden hair, wore a Leo Duel School uniform, and sported an arrogant, punchable expression.

The person who appeared before Yūga Hōzumi was none other than the Leo Duel School's rising star, Sawatari Shingo, who had a councilman for a father.

Yūga Hōzumi: ...

Looking at the sudden appearance of the show-off, Yūga Hōzumi was momentarily at a loss for words.

"Don't misunderstand, I'll settle our grudges later," Sawatari declared with a flick of his hair. "I am the man destined to become the greatest Entertainment Duelist in history! How could I let those invaders harm my future fans?"

Yūga Hōzumi: ...

What could he even say? Although the guy was a bit silly, compared to that father and son, he was already the most rational Entertainment Duelist Yūga Hōzumi had encountered.

At the very least, he knew that when facing an invasion, one should repel the enemies first before entertaining.

"If you're prepared, then follow me," Yūga Hōzumi said with a smile, heading toward the Ancient Ruins area.

"Hey! Are you looking down on me?!" Sawatari, annoyed at being ignored, chased after him, emphasizing, "This great one is NEO-NEW-SAWATARI!"

"Alright, alright," Yūga Hōzumi could only nod in acknowledgment. It was rare to meet an Entertainment Duelist who wasn't completely unhinged, so Yūga Hōzumi was very patient.

...

Meanwhile, Yuto stood by the hotel window, looking at the chaotic scene below, frowning as he muttered to himself, "Has the war begun..."

"Hey, they're here to capture me. Let me go, give my Deck back, and I'll help you fight them off. How about that?" Serena said from the nearby sofa, her hands and feet bound.

"You don't need to worry about that. I believe Yūga Hōzumi and the others can handle it. My mission is to keep an eye on you," Yuto replied.

"Damn it!" Serena gritted her teeth, glaring at Yuto resentfully. She had thought this guy would be easier to deal with, but he turned out to be just as unyielding.

Suddenly, the bracelet on Serena's right hand glowed with a purple light.

Following that, the red number 70 on the back of Yuto's right hand also began to flash.

"What's going on?" Yuto was a bit bewildered. The scene was indeed rather strange: every time the bracelet on Serena's hand flashed, the number on the back of his hand would flash too.

"Excuse me, could you release that young lady? You, the one who looks just like me," a voice echoed through the hotel.

"Who's there?" Yuto activated his Duel Disk, looking toward the source of the voice. But after clearly seeing the newcomer's face, Yuto instantly flew into a rage. "It's you?! The one who abducted Ruri!"

The newcomer had purple hair and a face identical to Yuto's, though the two strands of hair sticking up from his head did not add a single bit of cuteness to him. At this moment, he was staring menacingly at Yuto and licking his lips.

As the two drew closer, Serena's bracelet flashed with increasing frequency.

If Serena's bracelet had sentience, its internal monologue would probably go something like this:

"Oh no, Zarc's duplicates are meeting!"

"No problem, watch me send him away! I'll send this person from another Dimension away first!"

"Huh? Why is he still here? It must have been too long since I last worked, but no biggie, off you go!"

"???"

"Why can't I send him away?! What is this thing?!"

"Fine, if I can't send away this other-dimensional me, I'll send away the duplicate from my own Dimension! You win!"

The bracelet on Serena's hand burst forth with a dazzling light. After the light faded, the gloomy-faced Yuri vanished. In the room, only a bewildered Yuto and Serena remained, staring blankly at each other.

Elsewhere, in the Ice Plain area, which had been emptied as all duelists gathered at the Ancient Ruins area, a flash of light appeared.

A spirited young man on a motorcycle materialized out of thin air.

The spirited young man took off his helmet, revealing a face identical to Yuto's. The difference between him and the others was his blue hair and a row of banana-shaped golden bangs across his forehead.

"Is this... an ice age? Every time it glows, I end up in some strange place. Did I travel thousands of years into the future to a world where humanity is extinct this time?" The spirited young man looked around at the Solid Vision, then took a card from the Duel Disk mounted on his motorcycle.

"Huh? Isn't that a person? Hey!" The spirited young man, seeing someone approaching, quickly called out.

"Rin?" The spirited young man recognized the approaching person's face and, with a look of surprise and joy, rushed forward, trying to embrace her.

"Wham!" The spirited young man was slapped to the ground by a paper fan. The person was none other than Yuzu, who was on her way to the Ancient Ruins area to support Yuya. When a stranger suddenly rushed at her, trying to lay hands on her, the girl instinctively activated her defense mechanism.

"You haven't changed a bit, Rin! It's great to see you again!" The spirited young man, who had been knocked to the ground by the paper fan, looked up, a silly grin on his tear-filled face.

"Another one who looks just like Yuya... Who are you?" Yuzu paused, startled after getting a clear look at the spirited young man's face, then asked.

"Waaah! Rin! Don't you remember me? I'm Yugo!" Hearing this, the spirited young man struggled to get up and hug Yuzu, but he was quickly knocked back to the ground by the paper fan.

"Fusion? Are you from the Fusion Dimension?" Hearing this, Yuzu took a few steps back and activated her Duel Disk.

"What Fusion?! It's Yugo! Yugo!" The spirited young man glared at Yuzu, his face full of displeasure.

"Although you look very similar, there's still a difference. You're not Rin," Yugo said, troubled, after getting a full look at Yuzu's face.

"Excuse me, but who is Rin?" Yuzu asked.

"My companion, a girl who looks a lot like you! But she was captured by someone who looks exactly like me. When I was chasing that guy, *this* thing suddenly glowed and brought me here," Yugo said, pulling out his Clear Wing Synchro Dragon.

"Clear Wing... Synchro Dragon?" Yuzu stared at the monster, momentarily stunned. The images of Yuya's Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Yuto's Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon flashed in her mind.

"A Synchro Monster? Are you from the Synchro Dimension?" Yuzu asked.

"What Synchro Dimension?! I'm from Neo Domino City! By the way, what's your name? Is this the Ice Age where human civilization was destroyed?" Yugo's questions came one after another.

"My name is Yuzu, and this is just Solid Vision," Yuzu said with a frown. The young man before her gave her a particularly unreliable impression.

"Oh, I see! Then do you know how I can get back? I still need to find Rin, and then participate in the Friendship Cup with her!" Yugo said.

"You two over there, perhaps you could continue your conversation later? After I've completed my mission."
