The Sitrus Berries are all eaten? The first thought that came to Ash and the others upon hearing this was—are you kidding?
Do you have any idea how many Sitrus Berries are here? Even if not hundreds of thousands, there must be at least a hundred thousand, saying that all the Sitrus Berries are eaten sounds a bit far-fetched.
But when everyone looked at the staff's faces, the nervous expressions didn't look like a joke.
Nainai's somewhat amused expression instantly froze and then turned serious: "Take me over to see!"
Ash and his friends exchanged glances and quickly followed Nainai. They were curious to see who could possibly have eaten all the Sitrus Berries on Fruit Island—it surely couldn't be those three from Team Rocket again?
Within less than three minutes of fast walking, they followed Nainai to the 'Sitrus Berry thief's' location.
It was an enormous figure, larger than the combined size of Ash and his friends, with deep blue skin, broad hands and feet, a somewhat simple-minded expression, eating one Sitrus Berry at a time... isn't this glutton Snorlax?
"So it's Snorlax... I was wondering what kind of Pokemon could finish all the Sitrus Berries on an island, but if it's Snorlax, it makes sense."
"Stop analyzing, Ash, help Miss Nainai quickly think of a solution. At this rate, all the Sitrus Berries will be eaten!" Serena said, somewhat anxiously.
Snorlax had already eaten all the Sitrus Berries around him. At his pace, he could finish off a Sitrus Berry tree every ten seconds, not even sparing the trunk, uprooting it!
If this continues, it won't just be the Sitrus Berries that are gone, but the Sitrus Berry trees as well!
The cultivation of Sitrus Berry trees requires very stringent conditions, along with meticulous care to ensure they thrive. Though there are many Sitrus Berry trees here, they are actually the result of generations of effort by the people of the Seven Berry Islands.
If they're uprooted, everything would have to start over again, which would be a heavy blow to the people of the Seven Berry Islands.
"Damn it, stop eating, let go!" cried some nearby staff members, snapping out of their initial shock and rushing forward to try and stop Snorlax.
When wild Pokemon want to eat berries, the staff usually don't chase them away; if eating one or two berries fills their bellies, they let them.
But this Snorlax was different. It's not eating berries—it's eating away their lifeline!
If this Snorlax continues to eat, generations of effort would all be in vain!
But as several staff reached Snorlax and tried to pry it away, Snorlax continued munching on the berries until it finished the twenty in its hand, then it gave a mighty shake, sending the staff flying.
Several staff came to subdue Snorlax to no avail; it seemed oblivious to their attempts to stop it.
"Ash, use Pokemon to subdue Snorlax!" Misty suggested to Ash.
"I was thinking that too. Pikachu, you're up!" Ash nodded, waving his hand, and Pikachu leapt forward from his feet.
At this moment, Snorlax's information appeared in Ash's mind.
[Species: Snorlax]
[Gender: Male]
[Type: Normal]
[Level: Elite Advanced]
[Ability: Gluttony]
[Moves: Butterfly Swim, Heavy Slam, Rest, Sleep Talk, High Horsepower, Giga Impact, Hyper Beam, Ice Punch…]
[Six-dimensional Ability: Physical Attack S (S) Special Attack A (A) Defense A (A) Special Defense A (A) Physical Strength S (S) Speed S (S)]
Ash: ...?
Ash rubbed his eyes, thinking he had seen wrong, but upon focusing his thoughts on Snorlax again, the information remained unchanged, still showing triple A and triple S qualifications.
Good lord, is this Snorlax?! Is this just some random Pokemon found by the roadside?
Can someone tell him what's this 'Butterfly Swim'? What's this elite level? What's this triple S qualification?
When did Snorlax's speed reach S-level?
Though the S-level here refers only to speed qualifications, compared among its kind.
In other words, this Snorlax is among the fastest in its kind, perhaps only one in a hundred thousand could have such speed, but... even if it's faster among its kind, it's still just a Snorlax.
Even if this Snorlax has top-notch speed, it probably can't match the normal speed of Pikachu, as determined by the innate limitations of Pokemon species.
But, that said, precisely because Snorlax's speed is generally slow, having an S-level qualification in speed is even harder.
Typically, for a Pokemon like Snorlax, achieving an S-level speed qualification is several times more difficult than other Pokemon with normal speed, but Snorlax's physical and defense qualifications are generally easier to achieve higher values.
This is known as Pokemon's bias value, like Ash's Blastoise, whose other qualifications were alright at first encounter, but its speed was very slow, because of its natural attribute bias.
