Chapter 1 - A New Light

"El Galleyway? E-ElGalleyway." A shaky and soft spoken voice said, coming from a boy who looked to be about ten. The boy was reading the title of a newspaper which read, "El Galleyway rumored to be in Silvia!" Before the boy could process more of the newspaper, loud yelling that came from behind him startled him.

"Leavenow or I'll beat you up!" Yelled a kid running towards the boy as he held a rock in one hand. As the kid was running towards the boy, another kid showed up yelling similar things to him. These kids looked like they were a couple years older than the boy which frightened him even more. THUD! The kid with the rock threw it, hitting the boy right on his forehead. The boy fell to the ground and the kids finally got to him. They then began kicking and stomping the boy.

"Please stop~." The boy whispered in fear as he tried covering his head.

"Shut up and die Ja-"

"Hey!" Yelled a man from down the sidewalk. "Leave the kid alone!" The kids immediately took off and spat behind themselves to show their displeasure. "Oh piss off kids... b-but go home!" The man walked right up to the boy and began to inspect. "Good, there seems to be little damage. Actually, it looks like you took no harm from them. I'm impressed. But are you okay?"

"I don't know."

"Do you feel any pain?"

"No."

"Then get up and show me." The boy then got up onto his feet and stood there showing the man that he was ok. "I guess you look fine. Now listen. There's something happening right now, so I need you to go home right now." The boy stood still and didn't move an inch. "Hello? I told you to go. Now go."

"I can't."

"Why can't you?"

"I don't think I have a home."

"Are you serious?!" The man began to look around. "Okay okay, I think I know a place you can go. See that shop over there?" He said as he pointed to a small shop at the corner of the street.

"Yes."

"Okay good. Go over there and tell the shopkeeper, 'Soren sent you.'"

"Why?"

"Oh my- just do it. Look, my name is Soren and the shopkeeper knows me. She will understand. Now go because I really have to."

"Ok, damn I'm going." The boy then began to walk over to the shop and then Soren immediately ran down the road.

The boy arrived in front of the shop. He turned the knob of the door and opened it, which rang a small bell connected to the door. RING! He walked in and began to look around. It was a small but very nice store. The place was organized and had many little sections which seemed convenient. It was a general shop, and had basic goods that common people would need.

"Welcome!" A very cheerful woman said to the boy from the counter. Once she took a good look at the boy, her smile faded. "Wait... you're..."

"Soren sent me."

Her smile had come back from hearing those words. "What?! No way!" She immediately walked around the counter and went straight to the boy. "I haven't seen him in a long time and he sends me this boy, instead of coming to see me! But I don't understand... why you?"

"I don't know but it seemed like he was in a rush to go somewhere. And he made me come here since I have nowhere else to go."

"Interesting. And what's your name?"

"Um... I don't know."

"How do you not know?"

"I think it starts with a J and an A."

"Is that it?"

"Yep, that's all I know."

"Well I guess I'll call you Jack since that's a really popular name. And who knows, maybe that is your real name~!"

"Ok."

"You know you're a really boring kid right? Quite the opposite of what I've heard, but that's probably for the better. Plus if Soren sent you then I guess I'll trust you." She then began looking around and handed the kid some wooden blocks. "Here, go sit in the corner and play with these. I'll just wait until you either get a place to go or Soren comes back."

Jack agreed to this and sat in the corner playing with the blocks. He then asked the woman for a piece of paper and a pen. She grabbed them for him but was curious on why he needed them.

"Why do you need this?" She asked.

"Last night."

"What about last night?"

He ignored her question and grabbed the items. He went back to the corner where he sat and began to write. The woman didn't question him any further and just continued to wait behind the counter.

A few hours passed by and there had been no customers since Jack came in.

"I wonder where everybody is?" The woman questioned while fidgeting with her hands. "I'm usually one of the busiest shops of the day. Maybe I should just close for the day." And just as she went to the front to change the sign...

"Wait! Mary!" Yelled Soren right outside the door, startling her. He then opened the door and walked right in.

"Soren!" Mary yelled in excitement. "I haven't seen you in years and then you sent me this boy which made me furio- oh whatever, I'm so glad to see you!"

"The boy is still here?" He asked. Mary ignored him and went in for a hug. "Umm, I missed you too."

"Oh shut up, don't ruin this for me."

He then let go and went to see Jack. "Hey." He said to Jack. "You may go now, it's safe."

"His name is Jack. And wait, what do you mean safe?" Mary added as she walked up behind Soren.

"Don't worry about it, the problem's gone now."

"I've got nowhere to go." Jack said.

"What do you mean? Are you homeless or something?"

"Hey Soren, I don't think he has a place to go." Mary added.

"And so what if he doesn't? You want him to be your responsibility?" Soren said as he rubbed his eyes, annoyed.

Mary turned her head to Soren. "No but as an imm-"

"Okay fine... I'll take him. Come on boy, let's go. I might have a place for you to go." Jack slowly got up and followed Soren out of the shop.

"Bye guys, and Soren come back any time!" Mary exclaimed.

"She was actually nice. And why did you come back if it wasn't for me? It was to come see her wasn't it?" Jack said.

"Well I just wanted to catch up with her. It's been a while."

"How do you know her?"

"It was a long time ago. I saved her life."

"How?"

"Alright there's a foster home not too far from here and that's where I'm taking you." Soren said, completely avoiding the question.

Jack began to smile. "You like her don't you?"

"What are you talking about kid?! You don't know me."

"Don't worry, I think she likes you too. Kinda obvious in fact."

"Alright, stop talking, and let's focus on you. Are you really sure you don't know anything? Because it seems like that's your answer for everything."

"I really don't remember. And I really don't want to end up in a foster home."

"Well you have no choice. I can't just leave you on the streets." Then Soren pointed at a building. "Look, it's right there. Not too far right. Plus I can go back to Mary tomorrow and ask her to look over you until you're fine."

Jack stopped in his tracks. "I don't want to go there. And you're only going to ask Mary because you want to see her."

"Look I don't care what you want, I'm not leaving a kid on the streets."

"Alright Alright, I'll make you a deal. Tell me what you're really doing here. And who you are."

"Look... I really can't. But I need you to go."

Jack sighed, "Okay fine. I'll go. It was worth a shot anyway."

"Sorry kid, but it's better than living on the streets."

They finally walked into the foster home where a woman walked up to them.

"Well hello Soren, what a pleasure to see you here."

"Hey Cheryl, look I need you to do me a huge favor." He then pointed to Jack, "I need you to take this boy in. He really doesn't have a place to go and I can't leave him on the streets. I will also go to Mary from the corner shop and tell her to look after him too."

"Hmm..." She said as she thought. "Him?! Really? I'll let him stay, only because I know how much things like this mean to you. So what's his name?"

"Kid, tell her."

Jack then walked up to her, "My name's Jack."

"Very well Jack." She said, "Well it looks like you don't have any personal belongings, so you can just get settled in and we can get you some things after."

"Ok."

"Sorry for his rudeness." Soren said as he slapped Jack's shoulder.

"It's fine, this one seems calm compared to some of my others, hehe~."

"Well I best get going. You're a lifesaver, Cheryl."

"No problem. Have a safe trip." She said in a cheerful tone.

Soren walked out leaving only Cheryl and Jack left. Cheryl took Jack into a room where the first smell that hit their nose was the smell of old socks. The first thing they saw was three kids jumping on beds in a very messy room with clothes on the floor and cabinets on the ground.

"Boys! Stop this instant!" Cheryl yelled.

The boys stopped and when they saw Jack they immediately began throwing things at him such as dirty clothes. One kid even threw a piece of wood that had fallen off a bed.

"We don't want him here!" One of the kids yelled.

"Look boys I understand where you guys are coming from, but this boy was sent by Soren and I'm taking him in as a favor." Cheryl replied while beginning to pick up some of the clothes.

"We don't care!"

"Mam... It's fine. I can just go." Jack said feeling unwanted.

"And go where." Cheryl said as she turned to him. "Look, I have a room that no one occupies. You can go sleep there until things settle down." She then turned back to the boys, "And boys, if this room isn't cleaned before I get back then there will be problems."

She then took Jack into a room around the same size as the boys, which had four beds and nothing else.

"No one has used this room in a long time, especially since there aren't that many children here anymore. You can stay here."

"Thank you~." Jack said with actual gratitude.

The day passed by with Jack just staying in the room for most of the time. He did leave twice. Once to go to the restroom and the other to go eat dinner with everyone else. When he went to the restroom he was messed with by the other kids and his head ended up in the toilet. Then during dinner everyone was there, including the girls in the foster home. Yet they all sat away from him, with some even scooting their chairs away from him. He felt so alone and before going back to his room, he asked Cheryl for a piece of paper and a pen.

When he got back into the room, he sat down on the bed nearest to the window and began writing on the small desk next to the bed. For a couple of hours, he wrote, drew, and watched the sunset.

While looking outside his window, he spotted Soren and Mary walking down the street. They stopped right as they were in front of the foster home and even though Jack couldn't hear anything, it was clear that Soren was explaining the situation to her. They then continued on walking after that.

Jack knew that he didn't want to stay in the foster home and thought that taking a risk is better than being trapped in hell. So he got up from his bed, opened the door very quietly, avoided Cheryl, and exited the building as quietly as possible.

He saw Soren and Mary still walking but they were getting away from him. So he began to sneak behind objects like bushes or walls so that they couldn't see him following them. All of a sudden they stopped in front of a house and Mary began waving goodbye. She then entered the house, as it was hers. Soren smiled and then continued walking down the road.

Damn he had such a good opportunity. Jack thought to himself.

He continued sneaking behind Soren and while doing so he realized he had no plan on what to do next. That's when he noticed that Soren was heading towards an inn, and an idea struck his head. He then sped up so that he could be very close to Soren. Then Soren entered the inn.

"Welcome in sir. Would you like a room?" Said the inn worker.

"Yes and just for this night." Soren replied.

"And is the kid with you~?" The worker said in confusion.

Soren then turned to see Jack standing right behind him with a huge smile on his face.

"What are you doing here!" Soren said in a shocked tone.

"You told me to go but you didn't say stay. I just went there for the time being." Jack replied.

"How did you even get here? And how did you know I was here?"

"I saw you through my window so I snuck out and followed you until you got here. Oh and don't think I didn't see you and your girl walking together. You kinda disappointed me that you didn't stay in her house."

"Stop talking or I will leave you on the streets." Soren said, clearly not meaning it, but just because he was embarrassed. "Okay look boy, I won't make you go back tonight but you do need a place to go because I won't be here for much longer."

"Okay I understand I guess." Jack said, rolling his eyes.

"Yes, the kid is with me." Soren said after he turned back to the worker.

"Very well sir, and will you get two rooms or one?"

"Two rooms." Then Soren pulled out his money and gave it to the worker.

After paying and receiving the keys to the rooms, Soren and Jack walked down the hall and found their room numbers.

"Welp kid here's our rooms. Let's call it a night. And don't come sneaking in my room since shit places like these have the same keys, just different numbers."

"One last question. I've been wondering about it ever since we met. But what is that?" Jack asked, pointing at his hip holster.

"Umm... don't worry about it."

"I'm not worried about it. I'm intrigued."

"What do you think it is?"

"A gun!"

"Okay now go to sleep."

"You're lame." Jack said, teasing Soren.

Soren ignored the comment and walked into his room. "Goodnight kid." He said.

"Goodnight!" Replied Jack cheerfully as he walked into his room.

Once Jack was in the room he realized how tired he was and the second he laid in the bed, he passed out.

THUD! THUD! THUD! Rapid beating heart, intense panting, tight chest, heavy sweating, shaking, hurtful breathing. Jack woke up in the middle of the night due to these sensations. He immediately sat up and he began holding his heart. His face filled with fear as he gasped for air. He tried to get up from the bed but his body felt so weak that the second he stood up, he fell onto the floor. He laid there as the panicking got worse but eventually began trying to stand again. He successfully stood as he grabbed the top of the cabinet so that it could support his body. He then turned around and looked back, staring at the paper that he had written on. He turned back towards the door and slowly made his way into the hallway.

He stopped in his tracks and then turned to look at Soren's room. He then pulled out the key from his pocket, remembering that the keys were the same. Carefully, he began walking to his door and put the key in. Making sure to be quiet, he opened the door very quietly and saw Soren face down in his pillow, snoring very loudly. Then in the corner of his eyes, Jack saw what he came to find, Soren's holster.

He carefully walked in the room, trying to barely make a sound, and when he got to the holster, he pulled out a gun.

"Saints Spirit." Jack whispered to himself, reading the words on the grip of the gun.

He quickly exited the room in the same way he entered and made sure he locked the door. Once he closed it as quietly as he could, he began going down the hallway towards the exit.

His hands were shaking as he held the gun. His balance was better and he could walk almost normally but he was still slowly wobbling. Sweat dripped as he reached the exit, breathing became much heavier, yet in his mind he only had one goal.

Once he exited, the fear he felt was starting to turn into pure rage. He walked down the middle of the road. It was dark, all the houses near him were dark, the street lights being the main source of light, guiding Jack down the road.

Jack began walking quicker, and it seemed as if he had a destination in mind. The grip he had on Saints Spirit became tighter, his jaw clenched insanely tight, his heart pounding as if it were trying to get out. The fear and anger that Jack felt was starting to overwhelm him, and his body was beginning to give out.

He was around half a mile far from the inn when behind him a voice yelled,

"Hey kid, what are you doing!"

When Jack turned, he saw Soren running at him with a very upset expression. Jack out of determination and fear, he began to run so he could get away from Soren.

"Please kid, you don't know what you're doing!" Soren yelled in complete fear.

Jack didn't stop and continued to run. Yet at this point, Jack's body was so weak that he was already on the ground before his mind could process it. THUD!

Soren caught up to him once he had fallen, and the first thing he said was, "You are... so stupid."

"I don't care." Jack said in such a weak tone.

"Kid, you really don't get it. This isn't safe."

"Just leave me."

Jack then took Saints Spirit, turned around and pointed it straight at Soren.

Soren backed up, concerned in the situation he was in. "Jack, I'm telling you for your safety, don't pull the trigger or something bad will happen to your hand."

"Then leave me alone. I need to go."

Jack got up, legs shaking, and began walking back slowly as he continued pointing Saints Spirit at Soren. All of a sudden he turned his back and started to run back in the direction he originally was heading. The second he started running, Soren ran after him, and caught up to him quickly. And right when Jack was in reach, Soren grabbed the arm with the gun in hand and pulled him back so that he could get it back. In complete desperation, Jack pulled the trigger of the gun.

BANG! Then a brightness emerged, so visible that it could be seen miles away. The light stunned both Soren and Jack, blinding them for a second or two. The bullet hit nothing and traveled high in the air while radiating pure light. Complete silence emerged after the bullet was out of sight and the streets returned to darkness.

CLANG! The only sound that was heard after the shot. Saints Spirit fell to the ground.

Soren, eyes widened with fear. He immediately grabbed Jack's right hand. "Are you OKAY?! Please tell me you're okay." When inspecting Jack's hand, Soren found nothing wrong with it. "Was it the other hand?!" He dropped the right arm and grabbed the left. After inspecting it, once again nothing was wrong with it. "The hell?! You are really okay." Soren sighed in relief and confusion. He then looked up and saw that Jack was dead asleep. "Oh never mind, he passed out." Soren then picked up Jack and Saints Spirit, and began heading back. "Shit. I have to hurry before people come to inspect this."

Back at the motel, Soren and Jack were now staying in the same room. Jack was still knocked out and was sleeping on the bed. Soren was on a small couch in the room, reading a newspaper, making sure Jack wasn't going to pull another stunt.

The morning came around and Jack woke up with drool on his lips and hair that was going in a hundred different directions. After gaining consciousness, Jack began to look around. His eyes locked on the sight of Soren sleeping on the couch with the newspaper on his face. At that moment he was feeling calm and a sense of safety.

SNORE! SNORE! Soren was snoring very intensely and that's what woke Jack.

Jack sat up and then grabbed his pillow. He then chucked it straight at Soren's head. POMF! "Stop snoring, you woke me up!"

Soren bounced up, causing the newspaper to go flying. WHOOSH! "Who's there?! Is it you, Aurora?!" He looked around just to see nobody but Jack sitting on the bed. "Phew... Anyway, good morning kid. How'd you sleep?"

Jack got up and began to stretch. "Good I guess."

"That's good. And how do you feel right now? You not gonna go crazy on me again?"

"I... feel great actually. And no I'm not... I'm sorry."

"No need to apologize. Honestly it was entertaining~."

"Really?"

"No. Don't do it again." Soren then got up and began gathering his things. "Actually kid, I got some things I want to talk to you about."

Jack got out of the bed and immediately fell onto the ground. THUD! "Oww!"

Soren looked back. "You okay?"

"Yea, just sore."

"Well come on. We can't stay here all day." Soren said. That made Jack get up even though his legs were noodles.

"So where are we going?" Jack asked.

"First, we're going to get breakfast. Even though your butt woke up late."

"Hey you did too!"

"Breakfast, here we come!" Soren shouted, ignoring Jack's comment.

After a twenty minute walk, they arrived in front of a small tavern, where they could get some breakfast. When they walked through the door made of very fancy wood, Jack knew he was about to eat good. Yet the second they stepped in, everyone in the tavern immediately turned their heads. There were around twenty-five people that fell silent. It's as if every soul in the tavern vanished and only left the carcasses of the body's.

Soren looked around confused at the sight. "They looking at me or you? HAHA! Doesn't matter, let's just go sit down."

The eyes grew stronger. Some eyes even showed emotions that began to make Jack uncomfortable. "Soren, I don't want to be here anymore."

"Ignore them. I think I understand but they won't matter in a while."

"You're gonna kill them?!"

"What?! NO NO! I'm just trying to say that you shouldn't focus too hard on them because they won't be significant in your life."

While searching for a seat, Soren was slightly tapped on the back. "Welcome back you scum."

When Soren turned, a huge man around six foot, was standing there, face to face. The man had an eyepatch on his left eye and there were many scars on his face. His body was huge and it seemed as if he could lift an elephant. This sent a cold shiver down Jack's spine and he couldn't do anything but stand in fear.

"You mother-" Soren stopped because he knew Jack was right there.

Soren began to raise his arm. The man began to do the same. Jack was getting more and more anxious, as he thought something bad was going to happen. Then it happened. Clasp! Jack flinched and his heart popped out his chest. Turns out, they just shook hands very loudly.

"Long time no see man! Come on, let me grab you the best seat in the house!" Said an excited voice from the big guy.

"Alright! Sounds good to me!" A grinning Soren said.

When Jack looked up he saw the two men walking away. He sighed out of relief because he genuinely believed he was going to get into a fight. Walking behind them, Jack kept his head down. This was because some of the people in the tavern continued to look. It wasn't only him though. Lots of them were also gazing at Soren. The big guy led Soren up the stairs so that they could go to the second floor. Jack obviously followed behind and he had to look up as he went up the stairs. When he looked, he saw the man whispering to Soren. Intrigued, Jack tried to walk up faster so that he could hear. Then as he steadily approached, the man turned his head, making full on eye contact with Jack. Jack felt a sense of judgement and was filled with so much fear of what the man thought or what he was going to do. For a moment Jack believed he was going to get thrown out or even worse.

Eventually they were sat at a table on the second floor where there was nobody else and where you could see the first floor like some sort of view. The big man walked away explaining that he'd be back to serve them. Soren stopped him, explaining that they needed some time alone and that they would order later.

For the first time, since they had walked into the tavern, Jack began to actually notice his surroundings. The tavern seemed relatively new, possibly a decade old. The walls were very clean and the materials seemed undisturbed. There were nice oil lamps all around, and even a very nice fireplace in the center of everything. The tables were polished and had no leftover trash or food on them. The people seemed very polite and rich as they were all very well mannered even as they ate or talked. In one of the corners there were games for people to enjoy and in another there were people playing some soft sounding music. Everyone seemed like they were getting along and to Jack they looked as if they belonged. The food smelled incredible and had a smell of home to it. The drinks were top class and were served fresh and cool.

"So let's start, Jack." Soren said, interrupting Jack's sightseeing. "Look, first I just want to know... who are you?"

Jack took a deep breath in, and was beginning to get nervous. "I don't know."

"Stop lying to me."

"I'm not. Please believe me. Ever since the night before we met, I can't remember."

"Then how come everyone in this damn town knows who you are, and not only hate you, but fear you?"

Jack's eyes widened, his breathing became deeper, his chest pumping faster and faster. "I uh-"

"Mary, Cheryl, even Dary. They all said things to me. It was off putting."

"Dary?"

"The big guy. He's the owner of this place." Soren lowered his head in frustration. "Please Jack... I need to know who you really are."

"I can't. I think I forgot. Please don't hate me."

"Look, the people here fear you and they don't even know your name. That's something that I can't wrap my head around." Soren then looked up. "Tell me, are you some sort of danger?"

"I don't know. I don't know. I don't... know!" Jack yelled, reaching a point of full distress and anxiousness.

"Okay, okay, I believe you. Look, I trust you. And you're just a kid. But this town, they fear you. And that makes them hate you. You know, when I left you with Mary, she had later told me that she was scared of you and that she took you in because she trusted me. At first I was confused but then I heard similar things from the others. I guess we're both lucky I'm trustworthy. HAHA!"

Jack didn't even crack a smile. He was still in shock because of what had just happened. But Jack, he really didn't know who he was.

Soren then cleared his throat. "Listen Jack. These people don't want you here. Wait sorry that was mean! But, it is the harsh truth. And you also told me that you had nowhere to go. If that's true, then I want to make a proposition."

"I don't have anywhere to go."

"Great! Well kinda. Sorry~." He then reached for something under the table. He pulled out Saints Spirit and slammed it on the table in front of Jack. SLAM! "Oh my! Whoops. I didn't mean to do it that hard." Jack giggled at this. "Anyways... Jack, have you ever seen a gun?"

"Ummmm... I don't know."

"Oh right you don't know shit. Well this is a type of gun. Most people would say it looks futuristic yet similar to the ones we have now. Well these types of guns are called enhancers. Wait, tell me, do you know what an Immortal is?"

"Yeppp. Someone who can't die~."

"Oh well yes, but I'm talking about people who are called Immortals."

"Yeah. They can't die."

"Noooo~. They are people that are hired by the government so that they can protect the country and its people too. It's like a really important job."

"Oooooo. Sounds cool."

"Yeah it is. They are basically heroes. They also use these enhancers to help them with their work."

"Wait, so does that mean?!"

"Yep, I'm a-"

"You stole this?!"

"What! No no no! I am an Immortal! For this country! Why the hell did you think that?"

"I don't even know."

"So Jack, one last thing before we order our delicious food. The reason I'm telling you all this is because of last night. Now normally I wouldn't have told you anything but what you did..."

"GULP."

"What the hell... did you just audibly gulp? Anyways. Last night after you took Saints Spirit, you pulled the trigger. The thing is, when a person pulls the trigger on an enhancer that isn't theirs, something bad happens. Now I know you're a kid, but I'll still tell you. When pulled, either a finger or the hand of which fired it... explodes. Right off." Soren said, making an exploding gesture with his hands. "Yet when you fired it, you were still intact. Do you want to know what that means?"

"That's scary. And no, tell me. Am I gonna be cool?!" He excitedly stated.

"That means the enhancer chose you. You can become the next owner of Saints Spirit."

"No way."

"Yes way. And now here is my proposition. Since you have nowhere to go and you can handle Saints Spirit. I was thinking that you could come with me and just maybe I can pass down my job to you."

"I can... become an Immortal?"

"Yes, you can."

"A hero? Like you?"

"No. An even better one."

"Please. I would really love that." Jack's eyes dropped. "But why me?"

"Finding someone who can use an enhancer is extremely rare and I can't pass this up... Plus you're a really cool kid." This made Jack smile softly. "Now let's get our food." Soren said, clearly hungry.

After finishing their food they went back to walking around the town. They eventually stopped at the town common and sat down at some benches. The scenery was pretty, there were nice huge trees, kids running around, buildings all over, and a nice statue of some man on a horse. The weather was nice and it was as if the sun was happy.

Soren tapped Jack. "Hey kid I need to go do something, I'm going to be right back, so wait here. Okay?"

"Umm okay that's fine. Why can't I go?"

"Don't worry, just wait. I'll bring you something after I'm done." He smiled and walked away.

Jack stayed seated and he began to fidget with his hands. At first he didn't notice, but as he began looking at the people around him, he realized that most were staring. After noticing this he looked at everyone, turning his head in every direction. Why me, he thought. People even avoided being near him and would back up or walk way around him. There were also people whispering. This continued on for minutes. Stop. My head hurts. Jack continued to think.

"Don't focus too hard on them, kid." Soren said, handing Jack an ice cream. "Here, just like I promised."

Jack grabbed the treat. "Thank you." He stopped and looked up to Soren. "Can we please go?"

Soren sat down. "Yeah don't worry we'll be out of here soon. We just gotta stay here a little longer. Focus on your ice cream. It's good."

Jack did his best to ignore the people, and began eating his ice cream. It was hard for him but now that Soren was back, he felt a little better.

"You guys need to leave. The people here are getting uncomfortable." Said a voice from behind them.

Soren turned around to see a man standing there, dressed like the sheriff. "And you are?"

"The sheriff." He said.

Soren looked annoyed since they didn't do anything. "We didn't do anything."

"Soren." The sheriff said. "I thank you for the service you provide, but this...this kid. The people don't want him here."

"You." Jack said complete fear.

Soren turned his head. "Jack, you know him?"

"I don't know... but somethi-"

"No he doesn't" The sheriff interrupted.

"Whether or not, leave us alone." Soren remarked in an annoyed tone.

"Understood, sir." The sheriff stated, walking off in defeat.

"You must be famous. Wowwww~. Does that mean people like you?" Jack asked.

"Doesn't matter if I'm famous or not. All that matters is doing what's right. Because that's what's going to leave a mark on your name."

Jack felt inspired from these words and it made him want to be just like Soren.

GALLOP! GALLOP! The sound of horses came around from a corner in the street. Jack looked up to see a very fancy carriage. It was black, had two elegant horses in the front, curtains for privacy, and even had some gold on it. Jack could do nothing but admire it, and so did the people all around.

Then Soren stood up. "Welp. I think that's us. Let's go kid."

"What! That's us?!" Jack yelled in shock.

"Yep. Now hurry, we'll cause too much attention."

They stood near the road as the carriage pulled up, and Jack was jumping up and down in excitement. This is so awesome! He thought to himself. The carriage came to a stop right in front of them and the man driving stepped down.

"You better stay still this time Maxy, because last time you almost ate some man's hat." The man said to one of the horses. He then turned and shook the hand of Soren. "Nice to see you sir."

"How you doing Marty? Great seeing you." Soren said.

"I've been good. How was the mission?"

"Could've gone better, but I think this town's going to be okay."

Marty began getting back onto the carriage. "Well what are you waiting for, we might as well go. Don't want too much attention. Plus, looks like you got nothing to pack, makes it easier on me. HAH!"

"The kid's with us. I'll ride the front with you, he can go into the back."

"Very well sir."

Soren got on and sat down. He looked over at Jack, who was still standing still. "Kid, what are you doing? Come on and get on."

Jack hesitantly stepped forward, then stopped. "Are you sure?"

"Yes. Now come on, start a new life. A better one than you would here."

Jack smiled, opened the side door, and walked right in.
