Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Lyra

"I told you it was not just a dream."

My wolf spoke in a knowing voice the moment the visitor stepped in. I stared at him, shock sending waves through my brain and to every other part of my body.

It doesn't make sense, none of it did. The moon goddess cannot bestow another one upon all the ones she's given me. It'll be too much responsibility to carry.

It was already enough that I was a prophecy born to either make or break the werewolf clan, I could control shadows, I already have strength greater than any normal wolf. No way am I supposed to be seeing the future.

There would be too many enemies for me to take on.

"Luna?" Marcus voice cut through my haze of thoughts, jolting me back to the present.

"This definitely looks like no healer." I spoke in a calm voice, masking the turmoil that was going on deep within.

I glanced back to the strange man and funny or annoyingly enough, I couldn't remember the details of the dream, all I could remember were the faces I saw.

"No, but he requested strongly to see you, even though I don't want him anywhere around this place."

The venom in Marcus voice was not hard to notice, which gave me a hint that Marcus knew him.

 "You know him?"

"Yeah… I used to be a member of his pack until he accused me of treason. I was to be beheaded the next day, but I escaped." Marcus gaze did not leave the man's face even though the man had nothing but a smile on his face.

"Oh, let bygones be bygones, that's in the past, isn't it?" He spoke casually, leaning in to tap Marcus on the shoulders, but the other warriors blocked him off.

"What do you want?" I asked, looking him straight in the eyes, urging him to be quick with whatever he was here to say.

"I would love to get on with why I'm here, but it's kinda hard to be free when you have weapons pointing at me. At least, I should be allowed the grace to see the Silver queen's face without weapons blocking my vision."

"So you want us to bring down our guard in front of a total stranger just because he says so?" I asked, raising my eyebrows at him, but he shook his head, still maintaining that smile on his face.

"I'm not here to bring harm to you, you're too beautiful to do such a thing to. Even the moon goddess would lay a curse on me if I dare to do something like that."

His words were smooth, smooth enough to penetrate the fibres of my skin and touch a place I had thought was long dead. With a wave of my hand, I gave a quiet command for them to put their weapons away.

Marcus looked like he was about to protest, but a brief meet with my gaze was all he needed to swallow the words that formed in his throat.

"Thank you. I knew you weren't as vile as the story said."

My eyebrows raised instinctively at the sound of his words. Story? Ones that painted me vile. I wanted to ask him what he was talking about, but I didn't want it to look like I needed anything from him.

For the first time, I took a while to properly look at him. Dirty blonde hair, suspicious green eyes, thin lips, with a height I had no doubt was over six feet. He looked…. Handsome.

"So? Why do you seek my audience?"

"Allow me to introduce myself, silver queen. I'm…" He began, but I cut him off.

"Lucian Hayes, I know who you are. Cut to the chase."

He made no effort to hide the surprise on his face as his eyebrows raised in shock, then that smile spread back on his lips.

"My reputation precedes me I see… Like you already know, I'm Alpha Lucian Hayes, alpha to the crescent moon pack, and I'm here to make you an irresistible offer."

While listening to his talk, I tried to ignore the ache spreading through my left leg. It was like each minute, it thumped in pain.

"An offer? You're an alpha, to a fairly big pack. What can you possibly want from we, rogues?" Marcus voice cut through the room, unable to keep silent anymore.

"He's right. It's not making sense for an alpha to source something from a rogue. Wolves were made to despise rogues." I ignored the words of my wolf even though I knew she was right.

"It's okay, Marcus, let him speak. We're about to find out." Marcus gnashed his jaw as he looked away, standing down.

"I'd love to really get to it, but I can see and feel that you're in pain…." Lucian's eyes glided to my injured leg and I followed his gaze. "It's abnormal for a wolf not to heal. You need a healer, and from what I've heard since I stepped into here, you're looking for one. I could help you with that."

"I don't as how any of this is your business! State your…."

I cut Marcus short with a raise of my hand, interested in Lucian's talk. None in the room could feel the pain I was feeling and Marcus was yet to find a healer. I could as well take him up on his offer.

"How fast before the healer gets here?"

 "Why don't you find out?"

He closed his eyes, his expression going still and I could tell he was using mind-link. He was quiet for about a minute before opening his eyes, the smile returning to his face.

 "She's on her way already."

The room was silent as we waited. Me, waiting in pain, Marcus boiling in anger, while Lucian stood there, smiling and gazing into my eyes with an intensity I have never experienced.

Soon, the sound of people approaching snapped our attention towards the door and the moment the healer stepped in, I shook my head.

 "No fucking way!"
