Synopsis
Title: Decree of the Forfeit King Summary Valerius Kael, an extremely powerful Demon God, was betrayed by his own kind. In his fury and sorrow, he forged a sentient weapon — “Lilith,” the Abyssal Blade of Agony — from a fragment of his own soul. Lilith was created to devour the souls of demons and cleanse the universe through destruction. However, the outcome of his crusade left his world annihilated. Afterward, Valerius sought peace — believing the only path to true serenity was to erase the world that had betrayed him. After the fall of his world, Valerius is summoned by four Goddesses into the world of Aethelgard, a realm threatened by the Four Demon Emperors and their Queen, Vexia. The Goddesses bargain for his aid, offering him a peaceful life in return for victory. To conceal his identity, Valerius adopts the name Argus Alioth, a humble traveler who joins an adventurer guild.

Chapter 1 - Prologue- Decree of the forfeit king

Prologue — The Goddesses' Gamble

In a distant, nameless world, a great war raged.

A world ruled by countless breeds of demons — where only the strong survived, and the weak were fated to die.

Across a desolate wasteland where nothing grew and nothing ever would, Valerius Kael stood tall.

Behind him spread a pair of massive crimson-and-black wings. Two dark horns curved backward toward his spine. His golden eyes burned like molten suns against the abyss of his sclera.

In his hand gleamed a sword — half obsidian, half blood-red — with a glowing crimson crystal embedded at its core. From it leaked a thick, sinister aura of red and black mana.

The blade was plunged deep into the chest of another demon.

This was the Abyssal Blade of Agony — Lilith.

Her overwhelming power cloaked the world itself in Valerius's mana — proof of how terrifyingly strong its master truly was.

Demon: "Valerius! Valerius Kael!! I despise you! Why?! Why did you betray us?! You're a disgrace — a traitor to our kin! Why?! Why?!"

Valerius: "To achieve peace... total annihilation is required."

At that instant, the crimson crystal in his sword opened like an eye — glowing ominously.

Chains of pure darkness burst forth, wrapping around the demon's body.

Demon: "VALERIUS!!! AGHHK!!"

Then came a bone-chilling incantation — words from a tongue no being could understand — from Valerius Kael, the God of Demons himself.

From his sword erupted a monstrous creature with a single red eye.

The beast devoured the bound demon whole, dragging him screaming into the blade.

Demon: "VALERIUS!! AGHHH! YOU'LL REGRET THIS SOMEDAY!!! AARRGH—AAAAHHHHH!!!"

And with that, the last of the demon race in that world was gone — consumed by his blade.

Valerius: "It's over… this is what true peace looks like."

He stood silently, gazing into the endless void. Then a small, teasing voice echoed.

Lilith. The very being who had devoured the final demon.

Lilith: "My Lord~" (grinning in her human form — a petite young girl with tiny horns and bat-like wings) "So that's it? We're the only ones left? Geez, that demon's death scene was so dramatic."

Valerius:(deep, rumbling voice) "Lilith… it's normal for the dying to be dramatic."

Suddenly, a searing light tore open the skies — holy, blinding, and unbearable for beings of darkness like them.

The divine brilliance swallowed everything.

When Valerius opened his eyes, he stood before four radiant figures.

His wings, horns, and dark aura were gone.

Lilith had merged back into his shadow.

A woman stepped forward — her presence burning with divine authority.

Aurelia Solen — Goddess of Light and Oaths.

Her golden hair shimmered like sunlight, eyes glowing amber. White armor adorned with shifting runes danced with dawnlight. Each flap of her wings left trails of golden embers.

Aurelia: "Valerius Kael, God of Demons. What you have done is despicable… yet your reasons are understandable."

Valerius: "So… am I here for a celebration, then?"

Another spoke — her voice soft and distant.

Lunara Veiss — Goddess of Dreams and Secrets.

Tall, ghostly pale, her hair flowed like liquid silver and her eyes shimmered with constellations. She seemed untouchable — ethereal.

Lunara: "God of Demons… your ways were brutal and merciless, but none can deny your strength and conviction."

Valerius: "Huh? You look half-dead. Do goddesses not eat anymore?"

Then came a calm, soothing tone.

Maris Enara — Goddess of Tides and Mercy.

Her azure hair rippled like the ocean under moonlight, her gown formed from living water. Her sapphire eyes carried the calm of the sea after a storm.

Maris: "Valerius, please. We need your help."

Valerius: "Help? How odd. A goddess asking a demon for help?"

Sylphae Arvane — Goddess of Life and Chaos — laughed boldly.

Wild, unpredictable, and brutally honest — she was the most human of them all.

Sylphae: "You're right! But we need your power, demon! The Demon Queen and her Emperors are preparing to invade Aethelgard — the peaceful world we created!"

Valerius: "Save it? You want me to save your world? I'm a demon, not a hero. Why not save it yourselves? Aren't you goddesses?"

Sylphae: "Oh, we could—" (laughs) "—but divine law forbids us from interfering directly with mortals."

Lilith:(muttering from within) "More like the law of hypocrites..."

Valerius: "Lilith! Silence."

Lilith: "Hmph."

Aurelia: "If you agree, Valerius… we shall grant you the peace you've long sought. Complete the mission, and your wish will be fulfilled."

Lunara: "You will live among mortals — in a body that suppresses your true power. Use your full strength only when absolutely necessary."

Maris: "You'll join a guild in the Kingdom of Solara — the Golden Argus Guild, in the capital of Luminaris."

Sylphae: "And if you succeed~ maybe I'll even marry you." (winks)

Lilith:(emerging, glaring) "What did you just say, you flirty goddess?!"

The goddesses froze — startled to see the little devil girl with horns and wings.

Aurelia: "Who… is she?"

Valerius: "My companion. Or… my weapon, if you prefer."

Maris: "A companion and weapon?"

Valerius: "Long story. I'm not explaining."

Lilith: "Don't change the subject! Hey, you! Flirty goddess! He's mine!"

Sylphae: "Aww~ you're adorable! Want me to be your mama instead?"

Lilith: "WHAT—?! You're so shameless!!"

Valerius:(groans) "Can you all stop this nonsense already?!"

Aurelia: "Ahem! Enough. What is your answer, Valerius?"

He paused, eyes narrowing.

Valerius: "Hmm… I've got nothing better to do. Fine, I'll take the mission — but on one condition. You stay out of my way. Understood?"

The goddesses exchanged glances.

Aurelia: "Agreed."

Sylphae: "I'll be watching you, Valerius~" (winks again)

Lilith:(fuming) "Oh, for hell's sake!"

Maris: "May fortune guide you, Valerius."

Valerius: "We'll see about that."

With a final burst of divine light, the goddesses' magic sent Valerius toward the mortal realm — Aethelgard.

Before leaving, Lilith stuck out her tongue at Sylphae with a mischievous grin.

When the light faded, Valerius found himself standing beneath a vast blue sky — in a new world filled with mana, kingdoms, and humans.

Thus began the story of a former Demon God attempting to live a "normal" life...

With his sassy, jealous, and ever-chaotic companion —

Lilith, the Abyssal Blade of Agony.

Chapter 1 — The Man Without a WeaponAethelgard — a continent powered by the veins of Mana Leylines,

vast rivers of magic flowing beneath the earth.

Kingdoms and Guilds thrive upon these currents;

whoever commands a Leyline wields unmatched magical authority.

The continent is divided into five great kingdoms,

each represented by a prestigious guild.

But these guilds don't simply protect their nations —

they compete, scheme, and sometimes wage silent wars for dominance.

Among them stands the Kingdom of Solara,

home to the renowned Golden Aegis Guild Academy.

And now, in this radiant land of light,

a young man had just arrived.

His name — Argus Alioth.

But long ago,

he was someone else... someone feared.

Once, he was Valerius Kael — the Demon Lord.

Now, he walked calmly through Solara's sunlit roads —

looked nineteen, handsome, composed,

and maybe... a little too kind (or so it seemed).

He wore a long, black cloak that brushed the ground as he moved.

No weapons. No staff. No sword.

Yes — nothing.

Where was his weapon?

Walking right beside him.

A girl — pale-skinned, blue-eyed,

her long black hair flowing with bangs that framed her face.

She looked about sixteen or seventeen, adorably cute

yet carrying an aura that didn't quite fit her innocent face.

Through her own magic, she'd concealed her horns, wings, and tail —

appearing as nothing more than a normal human girl.

But her attitude? Oh, that hadn't changed one bit.

She was still the same mischievous, dramatic,

and impossibly spoiled little devil —

Lilith, the Abyssal Blade of Agony herself.

Lilith: "My Lord, the air here— the trees, the flowers— ugh! Insulting! Why is everything green? I hate green!"

(she complained while stomping across the dirt road)

Argus: "Get used to it, Lilith."

Lilith: "Tch! So annoying! What are we even doing here anyway?"

Argus: "We're looking for the so-called Golden Aegis Guild Academy. If I'm not mistaken, this is the Kingdom of Solara."

Lilith: "Huh? So what? We're gonna destroy them? Burn the place down?"

Argus: "Lilith— no. We're not here to destroy anything. We're applying as students."

Lilith: "WHAT!? My Lord! You? As a student!? That's ridiculous!"

Argus: "We need a place to stay for now. And if I remember correctly, the academy's in a city called Luminaris. Oh, and stop calling me 'My Lord.'"

Lilith: "Hmph! Fine, whatever you say… Master!"

(Argus sighs in defeat.)

Their journey continued until the vast city of Luminaris opened before them —

a lively hub filled with people and color.

Vendors lined the streets, selling food, artifacts, and magical trinkets.

Children laughed and played while groups of adventurers wandered about in gear glimmering with mana.

Argus: "So these are what they call adventurers, huh?"

Lilith: "Hmph! Pathetic mortals. All show, no substance."

Argus: "Heh. Says the most dramatic being I know."

Lilith: "Excuse me— the cutest being you know."

Argus: "If you say so."

Soon, they reached the gates of Golden Aegis Guild Academy —

a magnificent fortress of pure steel engraved with mana runes and shimmering wards.

Crowds gathered outside, applicants from all over Aethelgard hoping to join the ranks of Solara's brightest.

Here, age didn't matter — only one's ability to wield magic.

But before becoming an official student, one must pass the Trials of Admission.

Lilith: "Ugh, so many mortals… makes me wanna throw up. They smell disgusting."

Argus: "You'll be making friends with those disgusting mortals soon."

Lilith: "Eww! Never! Not in a thousand years!"

At the registration desk stood two young women in academy uniforms —

their crest, a golden sun over a shield, symbolizing Light, Honor, and Protection.

The older of the two smiled brightly.

She was Myra, a third-year student and C-Class wind magic user,

with shoulder-length gray hair and gentle eyes.

Beside her stood her younger sister, Aliya, a second-year student and C-Class water magic user —

her long gray hair flowing like silver waves.

Myra: "Welcome! Please write your name, age, and magical specialty on this form."

(Lilith blinked at the paper.)

Lilith: "Uhh… what should I write as my full name, my lo— I mean, Master?"

Argus: "Use Alioth. From now on, you're Lilith Alioth."

Lilith: "Heehee! That means I'm your wife now, right?!"

(She giggled, cheeks pink.)

Argus: "Quiet down! You're my younger sister, not my wife!"

Lilith: "Hmph! Killjoy!"

They filled the form and handed it back.

Myra: "Hmm… Sir Argus? You don't seem to carry any weapon?"

Argus: "That's correct."

Aliya: "Eh? Then how do you fight?"

Lilith: "He fights with sarcasm."

Argus: "Don't listen to her. I specialize in martial arts… and strategy."

Lilith: "And being annoyingly smug."

(Argus quickly covers her mouth.) "Shh!"

From behind, a loud voice suddenly cut in.

Arman: "Hah! No weapon? What are you gonna do, run around the battlefield dodging attacks?"

Argus: "You're not wrong— but I won't be the one running."

Lilith:(grinning) "He will be the one chasing."

Before Arman could retort, the sky suddenly darkened.

The wind turned cold.

A heavy, unnatural pressure filled the air.

Lilith: "Master…"

Argus: "A test already?"

Myra: "No… something's wrong."

Arman:(smirking) "Heh, looks like it's showtime! Watch closely, weaponless man!"

The heavens split open — four pale, ghostly figures descended, screaming in agony.

Their wails sent chills through the soul.

Chaos erupted as applicants ran for their lives; others drew their weapons and fought.

Myra conjured a sharp gust of wind; Aliya launched water spikes — but the spirits didn't even flinch.

Myra: "Impossible! They're not affected!"

Aliya: "Sis! I'll get the A-Class instructors!"

Knights from the academy rushed to form a perimeter,

their blades glowing faintly with light mana.

One of the spirits darted toward Argus, shrieking as it lunged—

Myra: "Sir Argus!!"

Lilith: "Oh! Looks like it's interested in you, Master~"

In one swift motion, Argus caught the spirit by the neck.

The entire area froze.

The ghost struggled violently — its screams twisting into cries of despair.

Myra: "How— how is he touching a spirit!?"

Lilith: "Haha! Gotcha."

People stared in disbelief.

Spirits weren't supposed to be touched by mortal hands.

Yet this man — the "weaponless" Argus — held it effortlessly.

As the remaining three spirits prepared to attack,

Argus did something… unthinkable.

He leaned forward — and kissed the spirit on the lips.

Myra:(blushing furiously) "W-What—!?"

Aliya:(jaw dropped) "He just— kissed— it!?"

Crowd: "What the hell??"

Lilith:(furious, face red with jealousy) "MASTER!!!"

The spirit glowed — its form bursting with pure, radiant light that engulfed the others.

In an instant, the four spirits transformed into weeping women — naked, fragile, human once more.

They fell to their knees before Argus, tears streaming down their faces — not of pain, but of peace.

Spirit (crying): "My Lord… thank you… thank you so much…"

Argus:(gently cupping her cheek) "Your suffering has ended, my lady."

And with that, they vanished into the wind.

The crowd was speechless.

A man with no weapon.

No spell.

No chant.

Just… a kiss.

Lilith:(grabbing Argus by the collar, screaming) "WHAT WAS THAT?! Why did you— how could you— you kissed it?!"

Argus:(nonchalant, digging a finger in his ear) "Calm down, Lilith. That's called exorcism. A purification ritual."

Lilith: "Oh really?! With your lips? Are you kidding me!?"

Argus: "It worked, didn't it?"

Lilith: "Ugh! I swear, I should just throw you back into the Abyss!"

(Argus shoots her a sharp glare.)

Lilith:(crosses arms, pouting, eyes teary) "You better explain that later…"

Myra: "Um… sorry to interrupt, but those spirits— they were once people.

They'd been corrupted by demons and turned into weapons."

Argus:(smirking) "See? Told you so." (he pats Lilith's head)

Lilith: "Still! There were other ways to free them!"

Argus: "Wrong. What I gave them… was hope." (obviously just making excuses)

Myra: "A-Anyway… you two should head inside. Enrollment's about to begin."

That day left a single burning question in everyone's mind:

"How does Argus Alioth, the man with no weapon, truly fight?

And how long can Lilith, his ever-jealous companion, endure this mortal life by his side — pretending to be ordinary?"

Only time would tell.

Guild Log: Entry #001 — "The Exorcist Fraud"Location: Luminaris City, a random inn with suspiciously squeaky beds.

Time: A few hours after the "Spirit Kissing Incident."

Lilith: "..."

Argus: "..."

(Awkward silence.)

Lilith: "So… purification ritual, huh?"

Argus: "Yup."

Lilith: "And that required lip contact?"

Argus: "Technically, yes. The ritual needs a medium of emotion—"

Lilith: "Oh shut up! You just wanted to kiss her!"

Argus: "Lilith, I literally purified a screaming ghost."

Lilith: "You purified her soul, not her lips!"

Argus: "Details, details."

(Lilith stands up, grabs a pillow, and smacks him in the face.)

Lilith: "From now on, no kissing anyone! Spirits, humans, angels, I don't care!"

Argus: "Tch. Fine." (grinning smugly) "What about you then?"

Lilith: "W-What!?"

Argus: "If you ever turn evil, I'll have to purify you too…"

(He leans closer, whispering) "…with a kiss."

Lilith:(explodes in red) "M-Master!!! You—! You pervert!"

(She throws the pillow again. This time it hits the lamp, which bursts into flames.)

Argus: "..."

Lilith: "..."

Argus: "…So… we're sleeping in the hallway tonight."

Lilith: "I hate you."
