Chapter 39 - The book made her think...Faith changes, but truths never

Life is no easy for everyone.

We saw how Lucian's world broke...

And now...

Something's off with Aria.

Why is her aunt acting so strange?

What is the sudden reason for sending her to visit Greece when her tests are going on?

Does Aria know the history?

But...

What is the history?

'I am not fool, how can aunt send me on a trip just because of no reason...on top of that my exams are half way through.'

Aria's thoughts kept on disturbing her.

'What's wrong with aunt's behaviour?

I need to know...

But how?

Who will help me?

Fiona?

Not at all... Then who? Maybe someone...someone who is not too famous but has strong connections.

Lucian? Noooo...

He's already going through a lot probably.

And in fact he's trying to avoid me from past few days.

Then who?'

Her memory started moving forward and then took a stop near the latest event.

The study session.

'Yes! I remember. A guy accompanied Lucian that day to Mr. Dalton's house.

I heard his name...If I am not wrong...Nick? No, wait probably Nikos.

If I am not wrong.

He can help me...'

Aria pulled out her phone...

[Hello Ms. , how can I help you?]

"Hi, get ready with the car...wait for me at the back of my house.", Aria hung up.

Quickly wore a black jacket, a black mask, pair of two white shoes and a wristwatch.

She pulled out a knife covered it with the case and pushed it into her pocket.

She then jumped out of the window.

ON THE CEILING...

She carefully held the pipe and jumped on the window sill below.

And then on the road.

She ran towards the back.

"Uncle!!!!! Here...", Aria shouted as she waved her hand respectively.

Soon a white car approached her.

"Get in child, where's the destination?",The driver questioned.

"Mr. Dalton's house, now", Aria ordered.

Soon after a short drive , they reached Dalton residence.

"Thanks, now you can go back and please don't tell my aunt", Aria requested.

The driver nodded in the answer.

And drove away.

Aria walked into the house.

"Mr. Dalton here?", she shouted.

"Thief! Thief! Thief! ", Mrs. Dalton shouted.

Aria quickly pulled off her mask and the cap of the jacket.

"Mrs. , I am not thief, it's Aria! Aria Sinclair.", She bowed down.

"Oh! Aria! Why are you dressed so awkwardly?", Mrs. Dalton questioned.

"Actually I wanted to meet Mr. Dalton", Aria responded.

"Oh Dear! He just went out due to some work.", Mrs. Dalton answered.

"Can you tell me about the guy that came on the study session along with Lucian?", Aria tried to enquire.

"Ohh, you're talking about Nikos, yeah! He is a nice kid. But why so suddenly you want information about him?", she looked towards Aria, questioning her strange bheaviour.

"Ohhh, needed some help, can you provide me his number?", Aria pleaded.

"Fine, I believe you Aria..."

Mrs. Dalton provided Nikos number to Aria.

"Thanku", Aria moved out.

She pulled out her phone and dialed the number.

[Ring...Ring...]

No answer came...

She dialed again...

And this time the voice came.

[Hello, Nikos here...]

"Hello Mr. Nikos, I am Aria Sinclair, I need your help urgently"

Aria panicked.

[Sorry Ms. I can't help you, what if Lucian finds out that I helped his woman? He will kill me!]

"Shut up! I AM NOT HIS WOMAN! UNDERSTOOD!"

[Calm down Ms. I am sorry...still I can't help you because I am busy taking care of Lucian... heeee]

"Fine!", Aria hung up immediately.

'What the hell is wrong with my life? Now what should I do?'

Aria was unaware of the storm coming up...

'Now, who? Who will help me? Wait yes, we have a priest, who serves our family, specially the Sinclair's. MAYBE HE CAN HELP ME!'

Aria ran towards the taxi stand, she was familiar with the house of priest as she used to frequently visit his home when she was a child.

After a long ride, she arrived at an old alley.

The atmosphere was too dry, the voices of vendors coming from around the corners, the smell of rotten vegetables, fish and meat was making it harder to breathe.

Suddenly, someone placed hand on Aria's waist.

She immediately reacted pulled out the knife and stabbed the hand.

The person shouted in pain.

SHE TURNED BACK AND KICKED HIM ON THE STOMACH, PULLED HIM BY THE COLLAR AND BANGED HIS HEAD ON THE WALL.

The guy moaned.

"Sorry Ms. thought you were my wife.", he apologised and ran away.

'Ah! Stupid of me...I almost killed him.'

Aria regretted her actions.

She didn't stop there, stepped forward and paced up, after walking a little she reached the end of the alley, in the corner was a old, broken house.

It seemed as if it was abandoned.

Aria climbed up the stairs, the stair case creaked as if asking for retirement...

It made noises like if Aria took one more step forward the whole building will collapse.

After gathering all her courage Aria ran upstairs, and yes, she reached safely.

She knocked on the door and waited.

After some time, an old man opened the door.

He was as old as an oak tree, standing with the help of a stick.

His beard was so long that it covered most of his face.

His hairs reached his shoulders, and clothes were torn from many places.

Aria could not make out who he was.

She looked at him confused by such strange appearance.

But the old man recognised her...

"Oh child! Welcome Aria, come come in!", he smiled but the smile went invisible behind the long grown beard.

"Are you the Sinclair's family priest?", Aria questioned .

Her fear was growing, slowly...

The looks of the house made her more terrified.

"Yes dear, yes!", The old man answered in trembling voice.

"Can you help me... I want to know more about Sinclairs", Aria's voice faded.

The man's expression darkened, his voice deepened, he stared at Aria.

Slowly, he faded away inside the darkness of his eerie house.

"Sir?", Aria trembled.

After some moments, the man appeared again, this time not empty handed...

He was carrying a thick book.

The appearance was too old, cover dull, almost about to be teared in a slight blow.

Dust flew all over as the old man handed it over to Aria.

"Go away now, don't tell anyone about this. May god be with you. I believe that it's the right time to give this to you.", he smiled, and moved inside again.

Slowly, his figure faded away.

Aria stood there trembling...

Not due to fear but because she knew something more dangerous is going to be revealed.
