"Don't, don't come over here!!! You… you… you are not human!?!"
The only remaining CP0 member was completely terrified. At this moment, he even forgot about the mission. The man in front of him was too terrifying.
Single-handedly suppressing the explosion of the Primeval Stone, the pirate Victor—how terrifying was that!?
"Are you scared already?! Come, try the Primeval Stone for your master and see if it tastes good!"
Victor grabbed the CP0 member, forced his mouth open, and stuffed the Primeval Stone wrapped in thunder into it. The man's mouth tore, his tongue shattered instantly, and the stone reached his stomach, finally releasing its tremendous energy.
At the moment the stone began to explode, Victor materialized his body into elements and burst upward.
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
An extremely dazzling purple light flashed. The bodies of the CP0 members were instantly torn apart and vaporized by the stone's energy.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The underground base was completely shattered. Rock layers above and below collapsed simultaneously, like a magnitude 12 earthquake, destroying everything in an instant.
The hundred-meter-thick rock above was destroyed, and seawater poured down uncontrollably. Victor, originally surrounded by thunder, was swallowed by the water. Unable to use his thunder powers, he treaded hard, swimming upward.
When he surfaced, Aokiji would be in for a serious surprise.
"Ah la la, what happened?"
Aokiji was still fighting Sabo. Though stronger, the former admiral had difficulty against Sabo's relentless fighting spirit. The battle had been tense for a while.
Suddenly, a massive underground explosion caused a temporary earthquake. The huge lake created by Aokiji's ice rapidly dropped hundreds of meters after the turbulent waves.
This confused Aokiji and Sabo—but Rob Lucci and Spandam understood immediately. Something had happened to the five CP0 members who had gone underground. The explosion was clearly caused by the Primeval Stone.
Shortly after, Rob Lucci spotted archaeologists fleeing from a secret passage. Shocked, he vanished on the spot with Spandam.
Sabo, caught off guard by the chain of unexpected events, had to prioritize rescuing Victor and the others from the sea. The Revolutionary Army was otherwise engaged eliminating undercover agents, meaning Dragon and other senior cadres were occupied, leaving no support for the Island of Ruins.
Taking advantage of the pause in his fight with Aokiji, Sabo surged into the water at full speed, intent on rescuing Victor and the others.
"Give up, Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army! I won't let you save Victor! Unless he comes up on his own, he dies today!"
Before Sabo could reach the shore, the towering Aokiji suddenly appeared, blocking the path. His expression was cold, emanating an astonishing chill—but then it suddenly twisted in confusion.
Through his Observation Haki, Aokiji detected a figure rapidly rushing out of the sea a hundred meters behind him.
Could it be…!?
"Aokiji! You have such a cruel heart! I invited you on board with good intentions, and you tried to drown me in seawater!? I'll punish you by turning you into a refrigerator on my ship for a month—no, a refrigerator for ten years!"
Victor's voice rang out, full of resentment, as he suddenly appeared on the shore with Sabo, patting him on the shoulder.
"Victor… you?!"
Sabo's eyes widened. Was he seeing this correctly? Victor had emerged from the sea on his own!
Aokiji was even more baffled. As a former admiral, he had never heard of a Devil Fruit user surfacing from seawater without assistance. Observation Haki confirmed that only Victor was present.
So this man was truly unaffected by seawater?
"Aokiji, stop thinking! My power is beyond your imagination!"
Victor found Aokiji's confusion amusing but remained determined to teach him a lesson.
"Ah, Victor… I don't know how you got up here, but it must have been tiring. I'll throw you back into the sea and hit you every time you resurface!"
Aokiji's excitement was evident. He couldn't accept that Victor had survived—and even worse, Victor joked about turning him into a refrigerator.
Must be frozen.
Must be beaten hard.
Victor smiled inwardly. This was exactly the reaction he wanted—perfect for setting up his plan.
"Sabo! Robin and the others have already escaped with a group of scholars. Protect them!"
"Okay, but…"
"It's fine. Next up—it's me versus him!"
Victor's eyes burned with determination. Sabo nodded in agreement, showing his trust, and slipped away to ensure Robin and the others' safety.
Now, only Victor and Aokiji remained.
"Aokiji, if I remember correctly, you said that as long as I survived, you'd join my pirate crew!?"
Victor smiled, setting the stage to trick Aokiji.
"Don't let me kill you first!"
Aokiji's face darkened as ice spread across the ground.
The darker his expression became, the more Victor laughed inwardly.
Freeze me, Aokiji. Try freezing me!
Their battle erupted again.
As soon as they clashed, Aokiji realized Victor's thunder ability seemed useless. His speed had slowed considerably.
Seizing the opportunity, Aokiji launched a freezing time capsule, trapping Victor's legs.
He saw the mix of surprise and horror on Victor's face and pressed the attack.
Freezing moment.
Double freezing moment.
Ice Age.
Aokiji used almost every freezing technique he had against Victor, twice over. Everything around them seemed on the verge of complete freezing.
"Ah la la, Victor, is that all?! Looks like I can't be a refrigerator on your ship anymore!"
