Kelly POV
Thorne asked me to meet him on the rooftop after work, no explanation given.
"This better not be a work thing," I said, stepping out into the evening air. "I've had enough meetings for one lifetime."
"It's not a work thing." His voice was steady, but his hands weren't. He kept flexing them, like he didn't know what to do with them.
"Thorne. Are you okay?"
"I'm about to be very okay, or very embarrassed," he said. "Depends on the next few minutes."
I laughed, confused. "What are you talking about?"
He led me to the edge of the rooftop, the same spot where we'd kissed months ago, right before the Blind Zone mission, right before everything changed.
"Do you remember this spot?" he asked.
"Of course I do."
"I told you I wanted to do this properly," he said. "No crisis. No countdown clock. Just us, choosing this on purpose."
My breath caught. "Thorne."
He got down on one knee.
