Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Hiding All Achievements and Fame!

Glory!

Golden light burst through the sky like an exploding rain of fire.

Without hesitation, Song Jie lifted a massive sphere of radiant light with one hand and hurled it straight at the Winged Cang Wolf, Yi Canglang!

At that moment, Yi Canglang was locked in fierce combat with Zhan Kong and never expected an attack from the distance.

Boom!

A golden orb exploded midair, scattering countless droplets of burning light.

The golden rain showered down, sizzling as it hit Yi Canglang's body. The Winged Cang Wolf roared in agony—its skin split open, its fur scorched, blood pouring from the wounds.

Even worse, every droplet carried a burning effect that tortured it further!

From their vantage point, Zhan Kong and his men finally saw what was happening—and their hearts leapt with hope.

"Damn! Who's helping us? Reinforcements?" an officer shouted.

Boom!

Another golden sphere shot out, exploding upon the Winged Cang Wolf once more.

Zhan Kong tried to locate the source of the spell, but the caster was hidden behind a nearby building. There was no time to look—dealing with Yi Canglang was the priority!

Incredible!

One blazing spell after another lit up the sky, striking the Winged Cang Wolf mercilessly.

Zhan Kong quickly recovered and ordered his men, "Stay alert! Don't let it escape!"

The Winged Cang Wolf was covered in gashes, its fur burned and matted with blood.

It howled in fury and turned toward Song Jie's direction—but before it could pounce, another blast of golden light struck it down!

Song Jie stood calmly, unafraid. A Winged Cang Wolf was far from enough to scare him.

His magic didn't rely on complicated high-level constellations.

A beginner mage connects seven stars to form a Star Path—this allows basic spells.

An intermediate mage links forty-nine stars into seven Star Paths to form a Star Map, enabling mid-tier magic.

A high-level mage must connect 343 stars into forty-nine Star Paths, draw seven Star Maps, and finally construct them into a Constellation to cast high-level spells.

If one isn't proficient in forming constellations, even a second's delay could mean death before the spell is complete.

But Song Jie was different. His mana capacity rivaled that of high-level mages—yet his spellcasting required only a simple Star Path!

That meant his release speed was nearly instantaneous.

Boom!

The sky blazed gold once again. Yi Canglang roared furiously but couldn't get anywhere near Song Jie.

One spell after another—high-level power consuming only beginner-level mana!

Anyone witnessing this would be shocked beyond belief.

Even Zhan Kong stared in disbelief. He couldn't release such rapid high-tier spells himself!

Then his eyes lit up. "Now it can't get away!"

This unknown mage was a true blessing in disguise. With Yi Canglang heavily wounded, the opportunity to kill it had finally arrived.

"Everyone, follow me! Kill it! Sacrifice blood for Bo City!" Zhan Kong roared.

"Yes, sir!"

Excitement erupted among the soldiers. None of them had ever dared imagine killing a Commander-level demon beast—but now, victory felt within reach!

Roar!

Yi Canglang's bloodcurdling scream echoed through the sky. Another golden explosion hit it dead on, forcing it to stumble and collapse.

Song Jie didn't give it the slightest chance to recover—each blast of golden rain pinned it down like divine judgment.

"Now! Kill it!" Zhan Kong charged forward, his constellation blazing to life.

"Sky Flame Funeral!"

"Hellfire Stone!"

Fiery magic erupted from him, engulfing Yi Canglang in a hellish inferno.

Already gravely injured, the Winged Cang Wolf struggled to stay upright—but before it could flee, another of Song Jie's Exploding Golden Rain spells detonated upon it!

Yi Canglang howled in despair.

Song Jie's relentless bombardment felt like facing a human magic cannon—each strike precise and merciless.

Knowing the Winged Cang Wolf had no chance of survival and not wishing to expose himself, Song Jie quietly withdrew from the battlefield.

Moments later, reinforcements arrived—two high-level mages rushing to Zhan Kong's side.

"What are you two doing standing around? Help me finish it off!" Zhan Kong barked.

One of them laughed, "Zhan Kong, you've outdone yourself this time! To wound Yi Canglang this badly impressive!"

Zhan Kong ignored the teasing. The Winged Cang Wolf had been trying to escape from the start, and now it was surrounded.

With the two new mages joining the fight, the battle quickly reached its conclusion.

Yi Canglang, the fearsome Commander-level beast, finally fell under Zhan Kong's final Sky Flame Funeral, bringing the nightmare to an end.

"Finally… it's dead."

One of the mages exhaled heavily. "We came as soon as we got the message, but we were still a bit late."

"It's fine," Zhan Kong said, his tone calmer now. "I'm just glad you made it."

Their combined effort brought peace to Bo City at last.

"You've done well, Zhan Kong," one mage praised. "That beast was far stronger than an average Commander-level creature."

But Zhan Kong wasn't listening. His gaze drifted toward the outskirts, where the mysterious golden explosions had come from.

He flew off in that direction, scanning the ruins.

The two mages followed, puzzled. "Zhan Kong, what are you looking for?"

"Nothing," he replied, shaking his head.

He knew exactly who it had done—but Song Jie was already gone.

Even now, Zhan Kong could still feel the echo of that terrifying magic. The memory alone sent chills down his spine.

Meanwhile, Song Jie was heading back toward the safety barrier.

With reinforcements now in Bo City and most demons slain, the roads were finally clear.

He had no family left here—only a few friends and classmates.

Soon, he crossed through the protective barrier. Seeing the surviving citizens safe brought a wave of relief to his heart.

"Brother Jie, are you okay?" Zhang Xiaohou ran up, his face full of worry.

"I'm fine," Song Jie replied lightly.

"Brother Fan told me you two were incredible! Man, I should've gone with you!" Zhang Xiaohou grinned.

Mo Fan had told him about their harrowing escape and how they'd met Instructor Tang Yue—but he'd kept Song Jie's true power a secret.

"How about you guys?" Song Jie asked.

"We're good," Zhang Xiaohou said. "We were transferred to the safety zone early on."

Song Jie let out a deep breath. "That's good. No one who shouldn't have died did… He Yu's safe too."

Zhang Xiaohou frowned. "Brother Jie, are you sure you're alright?"

Song Jie smiled faintly and shook his head. "Yeah, I'm fine."

He turned to look toward the distant city. The disaster was nearly over.

Zhang Xiaohou stepped beside him, standing shoulder to shoulder. "If Commander Zhan Kong hadn't realized the danger early, and if the city's mages hadn't fought so hard… we might all be dead now."

He looked at Song Jie, his eyes firm.

"Brother Jie, I've decided—I want to become a military mage. I want to protect more people… just like them. Will you support me?"
