Chapter 3 - Rosa

I walk into Lucian's bedroom. It's spacious, neat, clean, and beautiful. The light gray walls clashed with the long, white curtains. The glass doors that led to a balcony outside. The massive bed in the center of the bed had a dark gray headboard. The blankets were black silk with a white underside. The pillows were white silk as well.

"Don't touch anything. Just take a seat." He growled through clenched teeth, as he walked over to the bookshelf that lined the wall on the opposite side of the bed.

"Where?"

"On the bed or in one of the chairs at the desk." He pointed to a wooden desk painted in a light gray. Three black leather chairs surrounded it.

"How am I supposed to sit without touching anything?" I asked, trying to see how far I could push him.

He spun around almost at the speed of light. "Don't be a smart ass and just sit down. One day you'll learn that if you keep acting smart like that, you'll get either yourself, or someone else killed."

I quickly sat down on the bed. Lucian pulled out a book just as his mother walked in. "Lucian, dinner. Rosaline… You stay here." She said, narrowing her eyes on me.

I know it's the punishment for locking doors, but isn't it a bit much? What if I lock the bathroom door while I'm in the bath or shower? They can't possibly take away all my food, can they?

Lucian dropped his book in my lap while he walked past me. "Sit there and read, don't touch anything else." He said. His voice was a hit softer than normal.

A few minutes later, I woke up when someone picked me up and cradled me close to their broad chest. They were warm and soft, yet harsh and protective. I opened my eyes to find Lucan's cold gaze locked on mine. My loser stomach fluttered again, and my chest tightened. "You can't sleep in a chair. You'll hurt yourself like that." He laid me gently on the bed. "I persuaded them to let me bring you some food." He said, softly. A smirk pulled at the corners of his mouth, before disappearing. He put the plate on my lap. "Eat up." He demanded as he walked over to the chair behind the desk and picked up the book. He put it back on the shelf and walked back over to me. He took a seat at the foot of the bed and leaned on his forearms. Fuck, he's hot right now.

"Why did you persuade them?"

He rolled his eyes. "Because I can't have my fiance starve into an early grave." He said as if it were the most obvious thing.

"I know you don't care that much about me."

"You're right, but all the important people I know already know I'm engaged. And what happens if that wedding is called off in less than one week? Everyone gets suspicious, that's what."

"So you only care what people think about you? After the marriage will you let me die?"

"One, of course. Two, no. Because people talk."

And to think he was hot? I was starting to think I liked him again… Not that I ever stopped the first time. No matter how many times I tried. I had to remind myself that he was a dangerous man, and that only made things worse.

"You're unbelievable." I put the plate on the bedside table and went back to the desk.

"Where are you going?"

"To sleep."

He stood up abruptly and stormed over. "What did I say about being smart? Get back in bed."

"You're going to have to make me."

He smirked and took a step forward. "Those are some dangerous words, Rosa." His words weren't angry, or even threatening. And that's what terrified me most.

I stopped breathing. Just for a second. Anger, I could handle. Furry is bearable. But he was calm. Like he knew exactly what was going to happen, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to find out.

He took a step forward. It wasn't a fast or slow movement. It was just… a step. But I could feel the air around us buzzing with tension. The hairs on my arms stood on end.

"It's funny how you think I won't make you do something." His voice was low, amused, entertained. Like I'm a painting for him to enjoy. He didn't touch me, even if I wanted it. He didn't raise his voice, even if he wanted to. He took a smaller step closer and my heart skipped a beat. He was too close, but I couldn't step away. I can't tell if it's fear or something else.

Something forced me to take a step. I don't know if it was my heart or the pull of gravity, but I took a step closer. His lips looked so soft and welcoming. I put my hands on his chest and leaned forward. Only inches were between our lips- and he stepped away.

"Where are you going!?"

"To bed before you do something you'll regret in the morning."

I crossed my arms and followed him. "Like what?"

"Like, make me lose control." He climbed into bed. I followed suit.

I stood in the hallways, my back against the wall. Lucian's gun was aimed at me, my brother stood beside him. Tears streamed down my face. "Please, I'm sorry. I swear, I'll never do it again." I sob. Lucian's hands shook but my brother urged him to pull the trigger already. When Lucian didn't, Adrian took the gun and pulled the trigger.

Something tight and warm wrapped around my waist as something hard met my back. I slowly opened my eyes. The reflection in the window made my heart stop. Lucian hugged me to his chest, concerned covering his face. He whispered calming words in my ear as his thumb brushed away the tears streaming down my face. I didn't know I was actually crying, but he did. And he held me through it.

I walked into the dining room, still in my clothes from yesterday. Then never let me pack the day before. So I was stuck in my white button up shirt and ankle long black skirt. I took my belt off last night because of how tight it was.

"So this is the porcelain doll that I've heard so much about." A tall young man said. He walked over and grabbed my chin roughly, forcing me to look at him. "Such a beautiful creature. Tell me, what are you doing here?"

"I'm supposed to mary Lucian Thorn."

"Ah, my little brother finally found a wife." The man said, raking his free hand through his hair. He tightened his grip slightly before letting me go. "I'm jealous."

"Anthony, go get your own wife. This one's mine." Lucian said, walking over to me. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me against his side.

"Oh, little brother, you underestimate me." Anthony smiled cruelly and walked away.

Lucian quickly turned me around to face him, and lifted my chin softly. "Where did he hurt you?"

I slowly pushed his hand down. "I'm fine." I said, trying to reassure him. But it did nothing.

His expression hardened and he jerked his hand away from me. "How stuppid are you? You aren't allowed to go near him. If you do, there will be a punishment." He sneered and stormed off.
