Dahlia's POV
The hospital corridors echoed with Lorena's frantic footsteps as she burst through the emergency room doors. Her eyes swept over Dahlia with desperate intensity, searching for signs of serious injury.
"Where are you hurt?" Lorena's voice cracked with barely contained panic, her gaze darting across every visible inch of Dahlia's body.
I watched as Lorena examined me, and only after she seemed satisfied that the damage amounted to nothing more than surface cuts and minor bruising did she finally let out a long breath. Her shoulders sagged as if a weight had lifted, and she reached out instinctively to comfort me.
The moment Lorena's hand made contact with my right shoulder, she froze. I had managed to reinjure the wound that had barely begun to heal, and despite the nurse's discreet assistance in redressing it, the pain remained brutal. It felt as though someone was systematically tearing apart my flesh all over again.
