Chapter 1 - creating a character

"Oh God, if you're listening, please help this poor fool out, "a boy with black hair and black eyes spoke, his voice trembling with fear and anxiety, as if this were the last day of his life. And for him, it might really be the last day of his short life — after all, this boy was none other than Akir Macbeth.

His hands were clasped together in a praying motion, as if begging any god to hear his plea and grant him the sweet mercy of death because tomorrow was exam day. All his regrets about not studying were now coming back to haunt him.

People might say it was his own fault that he ended up in this position, and they'd probably be right. But could you really blame him for not studying when the quality of fanfictions these days was so good? All his favorite fanfics and other pieces of media seemed to update exactly when he thought about studying.

There were just so many good fanfictions — Fate/World, The Gamer's Retired Life, Promised Victory in Remnant, Monster No., I'm a Cultivator — and of course, the greatest of them all, the one that made him fall in love with fanfiction in the first place: Meta Essence Gacha in Marvel. Ohhh, how good that one was.

Honestly, thinking about it now, it was all the fault of the fanfiction authors not his. Yeah, it was their fault. How dare they produce such high-quality stories without getting paid, distracting innocent young souls like him from their studies!

But this was no time to complain — he was too busy praying to any god or entity with enough power to isekai him to another world.

I know...

I know...

Hoping to get isekai'd probably made him sound like a desperate fool on his last legs, but he could still dream and all ambitions were built on dreams. So, if there was even a slight chance of being isekai'd, he'd take it in a heartbeat.

"Ahh, it is what it is. I think even the gods aren't going to help this innocent, poor child who's never done anything wrong in his life," he said, closing his eyes before opening one again and muttering,

"Okay, that one time I hit that kid doesn't count — that brat deserved it."

"Alright, and that other time when I called that woman fat doesn't count either, because it was technically true."

"Okay, fine, I admit the time I stole and cheated on my exam was my fault… and maybe a few other crimes I might've committed," he sighed.

As no divine light or summoning circle appeared before him, Akir realized he wasn't getting isekai'd anytime soon. With a dejected mood, he slowly rose to his feet.

"I'll just play a game before going to bed. The exam is for my future self to deal with," he muttered.

Akir walked toward his gaming chair, plopped down on it with a loud thud, and booted up his PC.

"Hmm, that new update," Akir muttered to himself as he clicked the update button for a game called SCP Creation.

Just as the name suggested, it was a game about creating your own SCPs — from their appearance to the abilities you wanted them to have. It was a role-playing game, and the start was always the most difficult part since the powers you could choose were limited to three main abilities and two minor ones.

"I wonder if they upgraded the SCP capturing system… and the rewards too," Akir muttered to himself as he watched the game finish updating before launching it.

The moment he clicked on it, his eyebrow twitched in frustration."Ahh…" he groaned, frowning as his black eyes landed on the save section which was completely empty. All his hard work creating and capturing SCPs had just gone down the drain.

Taking a deep breath, he spoke in an overly serious tone,"It is what it is. Hardships strengthen resolve. The strong-minded shall not be swayed by worldly temptations. Today, I walk upon the field of empty saves… tomorrow, I shall stand atop the leaderboard."

A small chuckle escaped his lips right after, breaking his mock-serious composure.

As he clicked on the character creation screen, "This is it," Akir thought, staring at the new options for creating a character. But before diving into customization, he first had to choose the character's gender.

Akir stopped moving his mouse and placed a hand on his chin, deep in thought. The last time he had picked a male character, and the gameplay had gone just fine but this was a new run. Shouldn't he try something different this time?

With that thought, Akir selected the female option not because he wanted to watch a pretty woman fight horrors beyond mankind, of course. Definitely not.

Character Name:Ykri Eve

Yeah, he had just removed the "A" from his own name and replaced it with a "Y."Akir had always named his female characters Ykri and his male ones Jkir.

Hair: White

Eyes: Red

Race: Half-Human, Half-Cat

Akir's lips curled upward as he looked at the character in front of him. She looked to be in her mid-teens, around 15 to 17 roughly the same age as him. Her long white hair fell gracefully over her shoulders, and two cat-like ears peeked from the top of her head. She wore a black-and-white lab coat-style dress and held a clipboard in one hand. Ovel shape Glasses covering her red eyes, giving her a serious, but almost playful look.

Now came the most important part — choosing the powers.

In any game he played, choosing the powers was always the most difficult part, since it could drastically change the entire gameplay style.

"I need to think this through carefully," Akir muttered. In this game, you didn't just create SCPs you also had to capture them. Choosing the right powers early on was crucial; otherwise, you couldn't even survive, let alone beat the first level.

There were multiple powers to choose from, but Akir decided to stick with his old setup. After all, powers could be changed or upgraded later in the game if you managed to survive long enough to beat a few rounds.

His first choice was:

Power: Technological Control

Description: Allows the user to take control of any technology and operate it as if it were an extension of their own body.

Limitation: The user must remain conscious while using this power. know about the technology in deeply.

"This one lets me control tech instantly — open doors, hack systems, access terminals," Akir mused. "It's one of my major powers since it can later evolve into Technological Manipulation, letting me create new items."

His next power choice was:

Power: Biological Manipulation

Power: Biological Manipulation

Description: Allows the user to manipulate organic beings. This can range from minor bodily control to matter manipulation at the molecular level.

Limitation: The user must possess detailed biological knowledge and make physical contact with the organic being they wish to manipulate.

"This is both an offensive and defensive ability," Akir muttered, nodding to himself. "It'll help me create new SCPs and capture them too."

He grinned. "Plus, combining this with Technological Manipulation would be insane. I could mix biology and tech — true heresy in"

He paused, then chuckled. "Ah, right… sorry, Omnissiah. Didn't mean to commit one of the greatest sins in Warhammer lore — creating sentient being."

He crossed his arms dramatically. "If that's a problem, you can always just recruit me into Mars as a Tech Priest instead."

power: Regeneration

Power: Regeneration

Description: Allows the user to heal from wounds at an accelerated rate.

Limitation: The user must have enough energy to maintain the regeneration.

Akir chose this one as a precaution. What if I lose an arm — or two — in a fight and can't find a health pack? With this, all his main abilities were set, leaving only the minor ones to choose.

Without waiting a second, he picked his two minor abilities: Magic Resistance and Mind Control Resistance. Both were essential — after all, you don't want to fight a ghost with no magic or mind resistance, do you?

And without waiting for another moment…

Akir clicked Start, and at that exact moment, his heart grew heavy, filled with pain.It felt like he was living the final moments of his life his vision darkened, his breathing slowed, and he took one last, shaky breath as he closed his eyes, bracing himself for what he thought would be his last moment in this world.

And just like that… he died.

Not by the glorious king of isekai makers Truck-kun but by his far less glamorous cousin: Heart Attack-kun.
