Edith was shocked to witness a brutal scene showing Callum punching Cliff in the face openly in front of her. Edith didn't mean to be afraid of Callum because she knew Callum would do it because Cliff had provoked him. However, in a situation like this, she couldn't defend Callum because she had to keep her distance to make it look like she already had a grudge against him.
As Callum realized his girlfriend's presence, his face paled. He immediately stopped his brutal actions and approached her. However, her retreating footsteps made him even more awkward and afraid she would hate him even more.
"Edith, this is not what you think."
Edith immediately looked away as she helped Cliff to his feet. "I don't want to hear any more of your explanations."
"I actually-"
"I really dislike a man who uses violence to defend himself!" Edith crossed her arms, glaring at her nervous lover. "Are you blatantly accusing Cliff of threatening me?"
