Just as Chen Hao lay awake with excitement, unable to sleep, the system prompt sounded again.
"Considering that the host is a complete newcomer, a one-time audition opportunity for Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils will be made available within three days!"
Chen Hao's eyes lit up."So that means I might get a role in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils! Will I be the male lead or the second male lead?"
"Host, you misunderstood. I am only providing you with an opportunity to audition for the Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils production team. Whether you actually get selected for a role depends entirely on your own effort."
"Fine, effort it is! I've already been comprehensively upgraded—getting a supporting role should be no problem at all!" Chen Hao thought to himself happily.
"Host, don't assume that just because you have the system, success will fall into your lap. You still need to put in effort. The system only serves as support—if you don't work hard, the system can't help you either."
The cold mechanical voice echoed once again.
"Yeah, yeah, I get it. I just hope this audition isn't a joke."The thought of potentially joining the Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils cast left Chen Hao so excited that he couldn't fall asleep.
The system, apparently done speaking, went completely silent after that.
Chen Hao thought back carefully. If it was a drama from the early 2000s, the version of Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils being filmed should be the one starring the "Fairy Sister" — that goddess-like beauty with an ethereal aura. It was considered one of her most iconic roles!
Of course, that drama featured more than just the Fairy Sister. There was Liu, the classic "wife material" actress; Jiang Xin, the plump but lovable star; and then — who was it again? Chen Hao remembered that the actress who played Azhu also portrayed the seductive "Mani" in the Pink Ladies drama. That was Chen Hao's type.
As for Kang Min, Chen Hao recalled she was a Hong Kong actress — once a goddess of sensuality in her youth. Though no longer young when she filmed that role, she still radiated allure and elegance.
Chen Hao shook his head with a wry smile."Now's not the time to daydream. I need to focus on how to actually join the Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils crew!"
He finally drifted off to sleep just before dawn.
Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Sister Yaya had also woken up. She lifted the blanket, revealing her graceful and alluring figure. Her long, fair legs slipped off the bed as she put on her slippers and stepped out of the room.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she happened to glance at Chen Hao sleeping on the couch. At first, she didn't think much of it — but then her almond-shaped eyes suddenly widened in surprise. A trace of confusion flashed through her gaze.
Yes, it was still Chen Hao — but for some reason, he seemed even more handsome than usual this morning. Though Chen Hao was already good-looking, today… there was something different.
Standing at the bedroom door, Sister Yaya stared at him intently. Her heart began to beat uncontrollably.
"Why does he seem so much more charming today… even just lying there asleep?"
Thinking back to all the help Chen Hao had given her these past few days, a wave of emotion swept over her. She noticed the blanket had slipped off of him and was now on the floor, so she tiptoed over, squatted down gently, picked up a corner of the blanket, and carefully covered him.
Suddenly, as if sensing something, Chen Hao grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms, his eyes snapping open wide.
"Who's there?!" he shouted.
"You scared me to death!" Yaya said, smacking him lightly on the shoulder."There's only you and me in this room, who else do you think it is?"
"If it's not you, then it must be me, right? Why are you so jumpy?"
"Sorry about that, Sister Yaya. I guess I overreacted after being startled awake," Chen Hao said, still lying on the couch — with Sister Yaya completely nestled in his arms, her soft warmth and fragrance making it hard for him to let go.
"Next time you scare me like that, you're going to pay!"Being this close, looking at Chen Hao's perfectly handsome face, Sister Yaya couldn't help but blush. Her delicate hands pressed against his chest as she tried to push herself up.
A beauty throwing herself into your arms was a wonderful thing — but it had to be done in moderation. After all, Sister Yaya clearly wasn't the kind of woman to be taken lightly.For a woman like her, slow and steady was the better approach — like boiling a frog in warm water.
Of course, Chen Hao had no intention of handing Sister Yaya over to that scumbag ex-boyfriend of hers. A woman as wonderful as Yaya, and he didn't know how to treasure her? Unforgivable!
Yaya went into the bathroom, and soon the sound of running water could be heard. Chen Hao originally thought she was going to take a shower and felt a bit of anticipation — but it turned out she was only washing her face and brushing her teeth. She came out not long after.
With a gentle smile, Yaya looked at Chen Hao and said,"Ah Hao, go get freshened up. Once you're ready, let's head to Film City. Maybe today, a sharp-eyed director will spot your talent at a glance and cast you as the male lead."
"Haha, I have a feeling about that too! And if I do get cast as the male lead, I'll definitely help Sister Yaya land a supporting role or something!"Chen Hao jumped up with the energy of a carp leaping from water and looked down from above at the beautiful woman in front of him.
"Hmph!"Yaya gave a playful snort and pushed his shoulder.
"Look at you, already getting full of yourself. Let's wait till you actually get the male lead before you start bragging!"
