Chapter 7 - Heading to Yanjing

When Chen Hao woke up in the morning, he found a soft, fragrant figure curled up in his arms. He didn't need to guess — of course, it was the pure and beautiful Sister Yaya.

Sister Yaya opened her eyes shyly. When she saw Chen Hao looking at her, she instinctively shut them again.

"Sister Yaya, time to get up. We're taking the train to Yanjing today," Chen Hao said as he gently patted her.

"I'm getting up, I'm getting up! Why'd you have to hit me?"Yaya glared at him in mock annoyance.

"How could I ever hit you? I didn't even use any strength, okay?"Chen Hao shrugged helplessly.

"Hmph."Yaya's cheeks were still flushed with red.She swung her smooth, jade-like legs out of bed and walked straight to the bathroom.Yes — they had slept in the same bed the night before.Even though nothing happened, it was still enough to make Yaya feel shy and flustered.

After freshening up, Chen Hao called the landlord to arrange the check-out.He packed quickly, and once the landlord arrived and the keys were handed over, he grabbed Yaya and headed out.

Each of them pulled a suitcase behind them. They met up with Yang Yang at Hengdian World Studios, and only then did they make their way to the train station.

Yang Yang couldn't help but chuckle as he looked at the two of them.He joked that they were clearly a couple — walking so closely together — and yet still didn't want to admit it."If this isn't dating, what is?" he laughed.

When they arrived in Jinhua, they went straight to the train station.Luckily, it wasn't the tourist season, so there wasn't a huge crowd like in Lost on Journey. They bought their tickets quickly and without issue.

Chen Hao didn't have much money left, but he could still scrape together 2,000 yuan, just enough to get the tickets. After purchasing them, he and Yaya sat down together to chat — leaving Yang Yang awkwardly off to the side.

Once on the train, Yang Yang reminded Chen Hao to take the opportunity seriously. He might've secured the audition, but whether or not he actually landed a supporting role in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils would depend entirely on his own abilities.

Unfortunately, on the train, Chen Hao couldn't just pull out a DVD and watch the series.

And that's when the system really showed its power.

By simply closing his eyes, he could watch a mental playback of the entire series through the system, frame by frame, in crystal clarity. This was definitely one of the perks of having the system.

To be honest, the standout actors in this version of Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils were Hu Jun, Gao Hu, and Lin Zhizhi. And no — this Lin wasn't the baby-voiced Lin Zhiling — this was a legit male actor who was extremely popular across Hong Kong and Taiwan back in the 90s.

Other than those three leading men, the one who outshone them all was undoubtedly the Fairy Sister (Shenxian Jiejie). It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she completely stole the show.

As for the supporting actresses — Jiang Xin played Mu Wanqing, Liu (nicknamed "Wife Material") played Azhu, and Chen Hao (not our MC, but a female actress) played Azi.Despite their roles, none of them managed to reach the level of fame that the Fairy Sister did.

As for the other side characters — Zhong Ling, Abi, etc. — if it weren't for the system replaying the scenes, Chen Hao wouldn't even remember who played them.

While mentally reviewing the show, Chen Hao focused on the supporting male characters.Besides the three male leads, the only other memorable male role was Murong Fu.

The actor who played Murong Fu did have a familiar face, but Chen Hao couldn't recall his name. And over a decade later, he had almost completely disappeared from the public eye.It was possible that he had only appeared in one or two films or...

The actor who had once played a supporting role in the series had long since been forgotten in the tide of the traffic-driven era — lost like sand sifting through the waves, left behind as popularity surged toward newer faces.

Because there was no high-speed rail, the train ride to Yanjing would take at least two days. Naturally, they wouldn't consider hard seats for such a long journey.Instead, they bought two sleeper tickets — to save money, of course — which meant Chen Hao and Yaya would be sharing a bunk.

The look of quiet grievance in Yaya's eyes was hard to miss, especially with Yang Yang present as a third wheel.Still, she chose not to protest, understanding that Chen Hao was trying to save money. She didn't ask him to buy an extra ticket.

Though they slept on the same bunk for two days, Chen Hao obviously didn't try anything. Not only was Yang Yang sleeping on the bunk below, but Sister Yaya was naturally shy, and she wouldn't have let him cross any lines anyway.

During the trip, aside from replaying scenes from Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils in his mind, Chen Hao also checked Yaya's favorability stats through the system.

To his surprise, her affection had surpassed "Intimacy" and reached the level of "Heartthrob."Chen Hao was a bit confused. Why "Heartthrob" and not "Trust"?

The system explained that this was to differentiate between male and female friends.

If Chen Hao surpassed the "Intimacy" level with a female, the relationship would automatically evolve into "Heartthrob".If it were a male friend, the next level would remain "Trust."

Well then… separating by gender? That's pretty meticulous.Of course, Chen Hao had zero interest in men. His preferences leaned entirely toward bright-eyed beauties like Sister Yaya.

Yaya's Heartthrob level had already reached 10, which left Chen Hao quite satisfied.Just a little more effort, and he might break through to "Admiration" — once that happened, maybe "shutting the door and building the car" wouldn't be a fantasy anymore.

Even now, holding hands, hugging, even light kisses — these kinds of not-too-intimate gestures — were already acceptable to Yaya, and she even seemed to enjoy them, despite being incredibly shy.

But when it came to going all the way…Well, Chen Hao still had some work to do.
