No. They didn't have wild and passionate sex after confessing their love for each other. They pulled themselves together and prepared to go out as planned. Felix took out one of his many cars that had been in the garage on display to take out his lady. While he was busy taking the car in front, Alexa got ahold of Mercedes when she was on her way out, starting her when she pulled her into the kitchen.
" What's wrong?" Mercedes asks, confused. Alexa blankly stares at her before saying," You are going to an unprotected territory. Will you be okay?"
Mercedes looked away from her and sighed. " I don't know. What can I do? I will just hope that nothing happens when we are out."
" I don't think you should go out anymore. Tell Felix about this and let's see what to do about it," Alexa suggested seriously. She was having a bad feeling like what happened earlier was not the end of things.
" No! We can't tell Felix anything, please," she begged, desperately grabbing into Alexa's hands. " I don't want him to know. At least not now. Let me just have this one night of happiness before anything happens. I don't want him to be constantly worried right now. But after we come back, I'll tell him everything, but not now."
Alexa sighed heavily in frustration. Mercedes did not understand her point at all. As much as she also wants them to be happy, they have to face reality. " Mercedes, you are refusing to understand that this is dangerous. What if you go out and something bad happens? Will you be able to do it?"
" Alexa, will being scared and hiding away make all of this go away? If it will, then I will not go out tonight. But you and I know the truth. What's going to happen is inevitable, and I have come to realize it after everything that has happened over the past few days. So I'm just trying to feel some sense of normalcy for the few moments we have left. I want this even if it may be my last day. Can't I have that?" she said in a sad voice, begging for some understanding. She was suffocating, and it was just all too much for her. Even though she was trying to stay strong, deep down she was in pieces. The weight of everything on her delicate shoulders was just too heavy for her that she wished it was all bad that it would be over at any time.
Feeling bad for her and being inconsiderate of how she felt, she began to understand. Mercedes was right. It was not fair for her to try to stop her from having some fun, even for a moment. The responsibility of saving the realm is all in her hands, so she must be feeling devastated. Although it was a mystery as to when Drakoen would come for her, they all had to live their lives and cherish the moments between.
" Okay, Mercedes. But if anything happens please tell Felix. Don't keep him in the dark like that. He'll feel hurt and it won't help you. I really hope you get to have a good time without any problems as you want," Alexa said and left Mercedes alone, went back to her room.
Mercedes sighed and went out of the house. It's fine. I'm sure nothing serious will happen. She said, trying to convince herself. But the things she sensed. She sensed the danger from afar, but she didn't get it. She sensed that something bad was going to happen, but she suppressed that feeling and pulled herself together.
She found the car parked in front of the house. Felix was about to come to get her as she was taking too long. Seeing her walk down the porch stairs, he came out of the car.
" Hey. What took so long? I was about to come to get you," Mercedes played it off with a smile and took his hand which he extended to help her.
" I'm sorry about that. I forgot my phone in the room. I went to get it, but I couldn't find it, so it took a while searching for it." Mercedes felt bad for blatantly lying to him, but it was not the right moment to tell the truth.
" Oh okay. Let's go now. I made a reservation at a Chinese restaurant. I hope it's alright?" He looked at her to see if she was okay with it. He had a hard time deciding which restaurant they could go to and just decided to go with his favorite. Maybe he should have asked for her opinion.
" Sure, why not? I've never been to a Chinese restaurant. Another one of my firsts with you," she replies with a wide smile and sparkling eyes which Felix could not get enough of. He helped her get into the passenger's seat and went back to his side. They made an exit from the pack borders and in no time they were on the main road away from their territory and into the human realm. The atmosphere changed and it was more mundane. Everything felt different from the pack. Felix drove comfortably and played some music on the stereo.
At first, they had a light, comfortable conversation about everything they wanted to do in the human realm. They teased each other, laughed, and occasionally joined their hands together. Mercedes wanted to stop at this moment and let it last forever. She felt very alive as the wind blew her hair out of place and the sun kissed her skin. It was a very special moment that will be forever engraved in her memory.
They stopped talking and Felix focused on driving to their destination while Mercedes enjoyed the view of nature. After a few hours of driving, they were in town. People were all over, walking to wherever they were going and some chatting away with their acquaintances and doing whatever mundane do. It had been a long time since she saw buildings, cars, and streetlights. But she couldn't say she missed anything other than being a normal human being. Even though she didn't have any good memories as a human. As you know, her life was a hell she barely managed to escape.
They drove a little more and it was dark. Finally, they stopped outside Hong's restaurant. It was a medium and intimate restaurant where anyone could come and enjoy some Chinese delicacies. It was nothing extravagant, just a humble family establishment.
" Alright. We are here!" Felix exclaimed in excitement. He got out of the car first and went over to Mercedes's side to open the door for her. Once they got out, they both headed inside. The restaurant was full as Mercedes scanned. It must be popular, she thought. Her mouth watered as she saw all the food different people were having. She couldn't wait to settle down and eat. Not to forget that she hasn't eaten since morning as well.
Felix spoke to the receptionist, who was a cute Chinese girl. Her face radiated warmth and happiness. Something she has never seen in herself. As they spoke, she was assigned a table which was at the far corner. Felix thanked her and led them to the table. Everyone looked at them as they walked by, some of them whispering among themselves. Mercedes, who felt like she was under scrutiny, held onto Felix's arm tightly until they got to their table.
Felix, being ever so chivalrous, pulled out a chair for her and allowed her to sit. After sitting, he pushed in for her securely and went to sit down. In front of them, there were two menus for them to look through.
When I opened the menu, I sighed inwardly that it was written in English. It was a relief that I could at least read it. I went through it and saw Hot Pot, Dumplings, Peking Roasted Duck, Kung Pao Chicken, and many more. Luckily, the menu also had picture references, so I could have an idea of what I was to expect.
After long deliberation, I decided to go for Hot Pot. I was already giddy with anticipation. Mind you, this was her first time, and she only hoped it tasted as good as it looked.
" Are you done? What do you want to order?" Felix asked, closing his menu and giving her his full attention.
" Oh yes. I want this," she says as she shows him her menu. Felix smiles as she sees her excitement. There was nothing to worry about after all. It was the right choice after all.
" Oh yeah?" he says teasingly and watched her cheeks turn red. He chuckled and reached out a hand to her.
" I'm happy to be here with you," he confessed honestly, and Mercedes stared at him with the same emotion. The moment was broken when a waiter came to take their orders.
" Good evening. My name is Wang Ro and I'll be your waiter. Are you ready to order?" It was a polite teenage boy who seemed to be Mercedes's age. He was cute as well, and he seemed to be enthralled by Mercedes, who didn't sit well with Felix. Roland stirred feeling possessed, but Felix managed to suppress him before he could rip the boy to shreds. One of the downsides of being a werewolf in the human world was risking losing control and transforming in front of people. That must never happen, or it would shake the balance between the human and supernatural worlds.
Felix slapped his menu on the table to divert the boy, Wang Ro's attention back to him.
" Yes, we are ready to order," Felix growled lowly, barely managing to keep his cool. Being a werewolf meant everything was heightened, including emotion. So his jealousy was not average jealousy. He could kill right now.
Wang Ro blushed, trying to recover from the embarrassment of being caught eying someone's woman. He cleared his throat and took out his own notebook.
" Oh yes, I'll take your order right now," he says, looking down to focus.
" Well have a large hot pot, steamed dumplings, and Ma Po Tofu. All that in Couple of serving," he grounded, emphasizing 'Couple' so the boy gets the message clearly. Mercedes was quietly observing Felix and was surprised by his change of behavior. It was like he was annoyed at the waiter and couldn't wait for him to get away from them. She didn't understand what it was all about. It was obvious that Felix was acting possessive and jealous.
The boy finished jotting down the order and bowed his head respectfully. "Your food will be ready in some time. Let me know if there's anything you need while you wait for the food."
" Bring some juice for my girlfriend. And a beer for me," Felix added, and the boy bowed again before leaving.
" Felix, What's wrong?" Mercedes asked as soon as he left. His grumpy expression went back to normal quickly as he heard her soothing sweet voice.
" It's nothing. I just hope we won't have to long. You must be hungry, right?" As soon as he said that her stomach grumbled but not too loudly that everyone other than them would hear. She and Felix pause in surprise before Felix bursts out in laughter. Mercedes covered her face with her hands in embarrassment. She couldn't believe that her stomach acted out as soon as Felix mentioned her hunger.
Felix recovered from laughing and said, Oh! You are so cute." Well, she was not feeling cute at all. She caved and started to laugh at herself. There was nothing to be ashamed of. She was hungry, and she was glad Felix found it funny instead of it being an awkward "kill me now" situation.
The juice and the beer were delivered by a different waiter, assuming that the boy, Wang Ro, was too uncomfortable to come back. They enjoyed their drinks and engaged in small talk. In no time, their food was served as well. Mercedes eagerly welcomed it as she dug into the simmering pot of vegetable broth. The other hand was the meat-based broth that was served on top of a gas hob. It tasted delicious unexpectedly for Mercedes. Felix was hardly eating as he enjoyed watching Mercedes stuff her face. She was using a spoon since she couldn't use chopsticks. She ate everything, and she seemed to be enjoying it based on her moans.
Suddenly, Felix was flooded with dirty thoughts because of her provoking moans. His control was truly being tested, and he didn't know if he could get through the night and keep it together. He shook his head and pushed those thoughts away and joined. They had a full and hearty meal, and they were satisfied. Luckily for Mercedes, dinner was not the end of the night. She was in for a hell of a ride.
