Mercedes woke up from a deep slumber. When her eyes opened, she was still groggy, but she suddenly remembered that she had a date. Her eyes immediately landed on the wall clock which read 5:50 PM. Feeling refreshed as certainly getting some rest had served its purpose, she immediately got out of bed and dashed to the bathroom. She wanted to take a quick shower to remove all negative energy from her body.
The ominous energy of an evil being she felt still lingered on her body. She needed to remove it so she could go on the date and enjoy it without feeling weighed down. She hastily peeled off her dress and entered the shower. As the warm water cascaded down her body, she felt her tense muscles loosen up. She moaned in appreciation as she gently scrubbed her body clean. Once she was done, she reached out for a towel and wrapped it around her body.
She went to her room to put on some scented body lotion. She decided to put on some light makeup, which luckily she got upon Crystal's insistence. Mercedes didn't feel the need to put on makeup since she had porcelain skin, surprisingly, but apparently, she still needed it because it's" A woman's best friend" says Crystal.
After applying some products, she decides to style her hair. She was suddenly putting more effort into this than earlier. It must have been because of what happened. It reminds her that she may not have much time to enjoy such things in the future, which is so grim, so why not do it now when she can? She curled her hair, which gave it volume, and then she went to the closet to pick out a new outfit. Something casual, she reminded herself as she scanned through the clothes in the closet, finding it difficult to choose. This is one of the wonders of being in a relationship. Always put effort into how one looks because you want the other party to notice how important it is to be with them.
Your appearance says everything when going out to meet a prospective partner. It can also serve as a way to express how you feel about others without having to say a word. Finally making up her mind, she took out a green crop top with puffy short sleeves and a ruched drawstring front. And then she also picked out stone-washed ripped jeans with butterfly detail. It was a satisfying moment to finally be able to make up her mind about trivial matters, so she went with that. In no time, she was fully dressed in Nike Jordan sneakers.
Everything she ever wanted to seemed like it was slowly falling into place, and she felt truly happy to dress up for her mate. She felt like a little schoolgirl as her heart felt like it was continuously growing and bearing in at an irregular pace. Now she was nervous about Felix's reaction to her outfit as she should be.
To her utter surprise, she spots Felix leaning by the doorway, completely absorbed in her presence. A flush of red appeared on her cheeks as she wondered how long he might have been silently standing there and staring at her.
" Oh, you are here?" she began pulling him out of his reverie. A broad smile appeared on his face as he walked towards her.
" I knew it. My mate looks good in everything she decides to wear," he says, complementing her, which brought het joy. Her worry was all for nothing. She realized that with Felix, she didn't need to try so hard to impress him, because he accepted every aspect of her and her whole existence as it is.
Felix placed his hands on her waist and pulled closer to land a kiss on her forehead. It was a warm and loving gesture.
" Thank you. I thought you wouldn't like what I picked out. I'm glad you like it."
" Don't think too much. Even if you could wear rags, it won't change the beauty I see in front of me," he replied, pulling her into a warm hug. While laying her head on Felix's hard broad chest, the same pain from earlier started again, but not as intense.
Mercedes bit her lip and wrapped her arms around Felix tightly, which caught him by surprise. Mercedes tried as hard as she could so she didn't show she was in pain because she didn't want to ruin the date night. Felix would surely cancel everything and not let her out of his sight. While Felix was just oblivious to the situation at hand, he was just happy that every day is one step forward for them. It brought him and Roland to know that his mate feels the same way he feels about her.
They stood silently in each other's arms and the pain slowly dissipated, allowing Mercedes to breathe. She discretely wipes the sweat beads that were going on her forehead and pulls back with a forced smile that would trick Felix into thinking everything was alright. She felt bad that she couldn't share her pain with him, but it was for his good.
" I'm starving. Can we go now?" she asked and Felix eagerly nodded his head.
" Yes. We will get going now, but one more thing before we go," he said, going to the closet, leaving Mercedes confused. He came back a minute later with his hands behind his back.
He stood in front of Mercedes nervously for the first time. He bought her a gift, but since he had never done anything like that before, he wondered if he would do a good job.
" Turn around and face the mirror," he said in a sexy, deep voice that almost brought Mercedes to her knees, although it sounded like a command. It must be an Alpha thing. Mercedes was curious about what he had, but she quietly did what he wanted and turned around to face the mirror.
She could see him behind her, and he got closer to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. Then he proceeded to gently remove her hair from the back and then placed a chain around her neck and clasped it behind her neck. It was a crescent moon pendant embedded with diamonds that glittered on the reflection of the mirror. Unconsciously, Mercedes's fingers gently felt the texture of the necklace in awe. Felix quietly stood behind her and observed her reaction.
She turned around to face Felix and said," You don't have to get this for me." It sounded like a shutdown, which made Felix's lively expression change to a sad one.
" You don't like it..?"
She clasped his head, shaking her head." No! Of course not. I meant that it's too expensive and I wouldn't
I want you to go to that length for me. Just being with you is enough. I don't need these materialistic things to be happy with you by my side." The smile on Felix's face grew wide. She is really one of a kind. It doesn't take much for her to be happy and that is exactly the reason Felix wants to do things for her. After all that she has been through, she hasn't had time to grow and just slow down to get a nice look at the view. Her life has been fast-paced ever since she was born, and it has been hard on her, but she never complains. She is a selfless woman and that makes him worry a lot, because she wouldn't mind giving up her life for the ones she loves.
He just had a feeling that he might lose her and that brought dread into his mind. He would give anything to just stop what is about to happen, but unfortunately, there is nothing he can do about it.
He placed both the palms of his hand on his face and pulled her closer to plant a kiss on her plump pink lips. After separating, he used his fingers to remove some hair strands that fell on her face. " I know. I know that you don't like these things, but for me, can you accept every gift I give you? It makes me feel good and happy that I'm doing something for you and, through every gift, you will be reminded of me. Don't worry about the expense. It is nothing compared to what you deserve. The whole world is what you deserve and the cost of that is priceless. Just like you are."
Mercedes's eyes were tear-filled, being reminded that she was the luckiest girl at the moment.
" I love you," she confessed truthfully, without any regrets which shocked Felix.
" I love you with all of my heart. I need you to know that. No matter what, you will always be my home, my peace, and my happiness. I look forward to waking up next to you every day and spending the rest of my life with you. Only you," she whispered at the end. Mercedes felt like she needed to say it and there was no way she wouldn't tell him now. She just had to.
Felix, feeling overwhelmed with joy and not knowing what to say, just let his actions convey his emotions. He grabbed her waist and smashed his lips on hers. He kisses her as if his life depended on it. Mercedes was taken aback by his reaction, but even if he was struggling to keep up, she just let him take the lead. Slowly, they ended up on the wall still engaged in a heated kiss. He went on to place his hands under Mercedes's thighs and allowed her to wrap her legs around his waist. She grabbed his hair tightly and threaded her fingers through his hair.
They broke apart for some air and intensely gazed into each other's eyes.
" Me too..," he said in a deep hoarse tone.
" I love you too. I love you so much more than anything in this life and the next and for as long as the Goddess allows it. Be mine forever, will you?"
" Yes.. I will be yours to infinity and beyond." With that, their lips connected again. It seemed like the date would be forgotten as they were busy thoroughly expressing their love.
