Chapter 7 - The Path Ahead.

"You asked what I am?" Lucius asked back, still with a faint smile on his face as he looked deep into his eyes. "It doesn't matter. What matters is your knowledge to me. Do you know this world?"

The homeless man said nothing back. His eyes, his whole being, were still terrified, but at least he nodded his head slowly, keeping the eye contact that seemed like the anchor between life and death.

"Good." Lucius said, and with it, he pulled out the knife from himself and more blood poured out like a fucking waterfall. The homeless man didn't even look down, he even tried to close out all the noises as it hit the ground.

It's strange… too strange. Lucius thought as he looked down at the blood. Back on Earth, I would have already passed the fuck out at the sight of blood, but I feel nothing about it. I'm not even scared of the blade in me… is this because of the Fool of Death? It nulls all my emotions and feelings. Makes me numb to everything… which means… I'm numb to that too.

"I'm going to ask questions." he said as he looked back at him. "What language are we speaking currently?"

A good question, because to him, it felt like he was speaking his mother tongue from Earth but that would have been impossible, as languages too were made up in the game.

"Hu…mant." The man whispered.

So, after all, I am a Humant race… good.

"What are the races that are at peace with us?" Lucius asked again.

Though the question was tricky to the homeless man… like, what did Lucius mean by us when he was obviously a fucking monster?

"The… elf kingdom, and… all races that aren't evil or corrupted."

So the same as it was…

"We are currently in Briminia, yes?" He asked as he needed to be sure of it.

"Y-yes"

"Are we in the capital?"

He shook his head to the question.

"Then where are we?"

"Vi–Vig…us."

Vigus…? Where the fuck was Vigus… ohhh… what a jackpot. Another smile spread across his face as he realized he was in one of the best regions of Briminia.

The east side, the so-called Dark Territory, which only had three major cities, and small towns and villages because of the amount of monsters that were spawned there… one of the havens for small-ranked players to gain exp and slay low-ranked monsters… but it meant one more thing.

It was full of adventurers, with guilds and the Briminia army to clear it up… at least, it was in the game.

But if there is no respawn and life is life, who would willingly go into the Dark Territory to kill monsters? Nobody, only those who are truly dedicated… and those people could become the prey…

"Is the king's army here?"

He shook his head to the question, which was strange to Lucius.

"Then how are they containing the monster in the Dark Territory?"

"Magic crystal and… a Holy Dome…"

Lucius froze down… even his mouth dropped as he heard what the man said to him. "That is impossible…"

"It's not!" The homeless man's voice suddenly raised up as he shook, thinking this monster in front of him might think he's lying. "The three Holy Mages did it, they made the dome."

Lucius just froze down even more as the man shouted it. "If there are Holy Mages… it means that the Holy Trinity is a thing…?"

The homeless man just nodded his head once again.

I'm truly fucked, huh…

The Holy Trinity, the righteous force of Himmel that only exists to destroy all evil, all corrupted beings that threaten Birminia and the throne.

In the Holy Trinity, there are three Holy Mages, powerful NPCs that are basically on the level of a player who reached level 500. In short, with the current state of Lucius they can easily wipe him out with the Holy power even if he is immortal, but the most alarming thing about them is that they are not random NPCs roaming around the world by themselves.

No, they need to be summoned by Himmel. But the only way to summon them is if… Himmel got his hands on the Holy Summon… which could only be obtained if a player gives it to him, or if Himmel himself somehow acquires it.

He fucking got it himself… he not just gained consciousness but maxed it out.

Yeah, the only answer to it was that. Himmel didn't just stay righteous by the setting the dev gave him, but he went over with it and achieved the Holy Summon himself.

Which to Lucius is the biggest threat. He is the Fool of Death… a being that, if somehow noticed, would be the priority of the Holy Trinity and Himmel to hunt down.

But it also meant one more thing… a truly adventurous path for Lucius, one that will redefine everything he knows, define the very being of him and how he played the game… and define his path.

No, that's a lie… he already decided what path he will take.

One that will be the most exciting one.

"Good then, thank you." He said as he finally pulled out the knife from his stomach and with his left hand patted the man's shoulder. "And I'm terribly sorry for this."

"Th–ank y…ou." The man stuttered as he stepped back, but Lucius suddenly grabbed his left hand.

"Oh… no, I'm sorry for what I'm going to do."

"Huh—"

It was fast… Lucius swung his arm upward with the knife, slashing the man's face across… but he was a bit far from him and the slice wasn't deep nor was it deadly but the man fell to which Lucius used to gain the upper hand.

He quickly kneeled on his back as he tried to crawl away and then did what he saw in games, what he saw in movies and series.

Push the knife to his throat… and slice it. He did it… but nothing.

The knife wasn't sharp, it was dull as fuck… it barely scratched the man's throat, so Lucius did what had worked on him… he lifted the knife and stabbed with it, but for some reason he didn't aim for the man's back for the easiest spot… no… he drove it straight into his skull.

It was just too brutal… the man's skull just cracked open from the multiple strikes, and with it, blood sprayed out mixed with brain parts as Lucius didn't stop, he just drove in the knife and pulled it out, just drove in and pulled out… and with each pull, more blood and more brain parts came out… and then he finally stopped.

Stopped, looking down at what he had done… looking down at the head… the skull that looked like a bowl filled with blood with brain parts with some kind of fluid… it was disgusting and terrifying… but what was more terrifying was that… he felt nothing.

Not even a single drop of emotions.
