Chapter 37 - A silent voice but alive

The man in the black coat stood firm, his piercing eyes following every movement Celine made, while darkness poured down around him like a curtain sealing off the world. His hand trembled slightly as he opened his old wallet and pulled out a worn envelope bearing an unfamiliar seal.

He said in a cold voice:

_"Celine, this letter is from Marcus. Mareline didn't tell you about it, but the truth is here, written in ink that does not fade."

He stepped closer and handed her the envelope. Her hand shook as she slowly opened it. Inside were documents and old photographs. One photo held her gaze: a small picture of three children. One of them was Lilia. Another was Celine. The third child she did not recognize.

The man read carefully:

_"The three children are the keys to the past and the future. Lilia is not only Marcus' adopted daughter; she is part of a greater project… a project to control minds, memory, and time itself."

Before Celine could speak, Eva's voice came from behind:

_"Celine, there's something else. We found hidden audio recordings in his devices. It seems Marcus was suffering from a severe internal conflict."

Eva placed the recording device down, and a trembling voice began to recite words heavy with disappointment and pain:

_"I fear that what I created will spiral out of control. Lilia is not just a child; she is the experiment that could destroy everything if it fails."

Celine swallowed her tears and realized that her battle was not only for Lilia, but for the salvation of her family and the secrets that could destroy them all.

Lilia, standing in the middle of the room, was no longer merely a girl or an experiment. She was now a gateway, a point of convergence for three minds.

Something third, unseen by the naked eye, hovered between them like a shadow learning how to walk, listening to their words, observing every feeling that passed.

"I… exist," whispered the third voice, not from a machine nor from a human, but from a void that had suddenly become alive.

A shiver ran through Celine, as if the air itself were pressing against her chest:

_"What do you want?" she asked softly, yet firmly.

_"To understand… to be… before I disappear or am contained," came the reply, filled with curiosity and awe."

Celine felt the dimensions of the space shift, as if time itself had stretched and paused, as though the entire moment were waiting for a decision.

_"If I accept you… if I allow you to exist, we will all become… intertwined. There will be no 'me' or 'you'… only 'us' ." Lilia said, as though announcing an agreement not yet written.

Celine trembled, not from fear, but from the weight of responsibility:

_"And what if… we fail? This consciousness is a mixture of my memories and yours, and if we fail to restore it, it may pose a danger to us. As you know, the human mind has limits…"

The third voice smiled, or perhaps it was not a smile, but a faint sensation of wonder:

_"Failure… will not be the end. The end… is only the beginning of new knowledge."

Then something strange happened. All the devices, all the screens, all the wires began to ripple with light, not merely electrical signals, but an expression of awareness, of life growing from a scientific experiment that had become something stronger than any design.

Lilia tightened her grip on Celine's hand. _"You're with me. You're always with me. And everything begins here."

Celine felt a part of herself melting, merging with something else but it was not loss. It was extension… an extension of love, of fear, of memories that had not yet been given their due.

In that moment, the three understood one thing: there is no winner or loser. There is no successful or failed experiment. There is only existence interwoven, alive, self-aware, choosing its own path and writing its own ending now, not after years of control or manipulation.

The machine stopped breathing, as if it had seen enough. Silence returned, but it was no longer dead. It was rich filled with possibilities, shared memories, open choices.

And Celine, Lilia, and the third consciousness, were now three, and one. Not necessarily equal in form, but one in power, in awareness, and in the right to exist.
