Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

At Sheryyn's residence,

A spacious house for one person to live in. The furniture and decorations were neatly arranged, and the house looked spotless, as Sheryyn had a fondness for the color white.

At the work desk beside her bedroom, Sheryyn was reading a document about the Dyroon family. After the series of unexpected events that had occurred earlier that day, she decided to go through all the documents given to her by Mrs. Jull, files containing every detail about the Brightern Corporation.

~

The Dyroon family was the founder and owner of Brightern Corporation, a company operating in the field of real estate.

Currently, the Commissioner of Brightern was Damon Von Dyroon, the son of the previous Dyroon heir.

Eilghy Von Dyroon was the only child of Damon and Margaret Von Dyroon.

He became the CEO at the age of 27 after his father fell ill with a chronic disease.

(Eilghy is now 30 years old.)

He was raised with great love and care by his parents, forming a close bond among them.

Since childhood, Eilghy had been introduced to the business world to prepare him as the rightful heir of Brightern.

Ambitious by nature, he grew into a sharp and critical thinker.

Behind his seemingly perfect persona, Eilghy was spoiled and everything he wanted had to be his.

Whenever he desired something, he would stop at nothing to obtain it.

Eilghy had little interest in romance, focusing entirely on his career and the company's development.

However, his parents constantly tried to arrange dates for him by introducing various women, though he had never shown the slightest interest.

On the other hand, one of the reasons he devoted himself fully to Brightern was the cold war between his immediate family and his illegitimate uncle, Aiden Von Dyroon.

Aiden was not much older, 36 years old, but though handsome, Eilghy was undoubtedly more striking.

Aiden, being the illegitimate son of Eilghy's grandfather, was never entitled to inherit Brightern.

Driven by ambition, Aiden worked hard to prove his worth. Yet, after his father's death, his dream of gaining higher status became nearly impossible unless he resorted to unethical means.

Eilghy, being as perceptive as he was, quickly realized Aiden's malicious intentions toward his family. Thus, he always remained cautious.

"Hmm… a cold war between brothers, huh? Interesting. With this kind of tension, it'll surely make 'his' plan easier to execute," Sheryyn thought to herself after reading the file.

Knock knock knock.

A sound came from the door.

"Come in," said Sheryyn.

Mrs. Jull entered the room.

"Good evening, Miss. Are you busy?" she greeted politely.

"Coming here at this hour? What brings you here, Mrs. Jull?" Sheryyn asked, surprised by the unannounced visit.

"I just wanted to ask how your work is going," replied Mrs. Jull.

"Hahaha, which one? The work as VGM or the work as your boss's servant?" Sheryyn replied casually.

"I'm asking about both, Miss," Mrs. Jull answered calmly.

"Oh, of course, my duties as VGM are going well. I also attended the third Strategy Meeting. Interestingly, they decided to choose Agromy Travel as the main investor. Hmm… I think that's the right decision, don't you agree, Mrs. Jull?" said Sheryyn with a faint smile.

"Ah, yes, I agree, Miss," replied Mrs. Jull.

Sheryyn rose from her seat and turned toward the window behind her desk.

Staring at the night sky, she said coldly, "Didn't I tell you not to disturb me while I'm on this mission? It hasn't even been a week, and you're already here?"

"I came here under instru—" Mrs. Jull began, but Sheryyn cut her off.

"That's enough. I've already reported everything I've learned so far. Now leave. I expect you to come here no more than once a week."

"Yes, Miss…" replied Mrs. Jull obediently.

In her heart, Mrs. Jull thought,

The young lady's personality truly softened after her college years when it comes to things unrelated to her family.

But when it comes to her family, she's still the same cold and indifferent. She hasn't seen her mother, sister, or father in years.

---

The next morning was cloudy.

Sheryyn left for work at 8 a.m. as usual, driving her car while playing cheerful music to lift her mood.

Upon arriving at Brightern's parking lot, from a distance she spotted Eilghy with his secretary.

She caught a glimpse of Beatrix, the secretary, touching Eilghy's shoulder.

While parking her car, Sheryyn muttered to herself,

"Ugh, early in the morning and there's already a romantic scene."

---

In her office, Sheryyn was diligently working on the tasks assigned by Eilghy. They were quite complex and numerous, but that wasn't much of a problem for someone as sharp as her.

While reviewing financial and asset documents, she thought it would be better to understand Brightern's shareholder distribution to get a clearer view of investor competition.

"Seems like I'll need to visit CFO Hans to request the latest data on investors and shares," she thought.

She immediately headed toward CFO Hans's office.

Upon arrival, she pressed the doorbell.

Ding ding ding.

The door opened.

"Good morning, CFO Hans!" greeted Sheryyn.

Seeing her at his door, Hans looked mildly intrigued it was the first time the new VGM had visited his office.

"Good morning, VGM Sher. Please, come in."

He gestured for her to sit on the sofa, joining her there himself.

"Is there something I can help you with, VGM Sher?" he asked curiously.

"I need the latest data on Brightern's investors and shareholders for work purposes," Sheryyn replied politely with a gentle smile.

"Ah, perfect timing. I just updated that data recently. I'll provide you the physical copy, give me a moment to process it," said Hans as he moved to his desk.

"Alright," replied Sheryyn softly.
