Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Planning out survival

[Wakey wakey]

[... I'll be up in five more minutes]

[Funny you should say that, seeing you told me the exact thing two hours ago— get up already!]

[Ahh— I'm up]

What's that smell? Are these clothes? They kinda look familiar… oof! Dirty laundry… Why does it smell so bad?

[It's good to see you are wide awake. Now isn't it about time you do your laundry]

Was that what this was all about?

[Fine]

[Hmm… you usually always complain and put it off later. Are you still feeling touchy? My, my. I wonder what happened yesterday that sparked you up so much. Tell me, did your girlfriend really give you a hard time?]

[M-MOM]

[Don't let it get to you, if it makes you feel any better, I enjoyed seeing that side of you… Me and your dad]

It's certainly a relief seeing that nothing's changed. Guess I was worrying over nothing. But man, I sure have a lot of laundry. I don't even know where to start.

[The rest are in the bathroom]

There's more!?

A lot of people enjoy their Saturday's with something simple like breakfast, or going to the park, watching a movie, or hanging out with friends. But mine was nothing but piles and piles of laundry. How long is this going to take to get done?

[Phew… That was easier than I thought]

The road certainly becomes cleaner when you put your mind to it.

[…The weather sure is nice today]

It's been a while since I saw the sky this bright, perfect for a nice outing.

As much as I want to go about my day like a normal kid. I'm afraid I can't afford to take it easy. If everything is as I think it is and I'm really back to the past, I should probably start planning out my family survival.

Spending the afternoon familiarizing with the current world situation certainly did a number on me. But it at least turned out easier, thanks to the internet still being active. I gotta hand it to them, they sure are convenient.

Well after reviewing several online sources I finally got the gist of things. The phenomenon I'm experiencing right now seems to be called transmigration. It's supposed to be nothing but sci-fi fantasy, yet my case can be traced towards the same thing. Honestly, I don't get the deal with this thing, and why I 'transmigrated' as they call it back in time, or how I did it in the first place. But I've managed to return right before the planet's demise.

Sigh, I'm giving myself a headache just trying to wrap my head around this.

But only a fool wouldn't take the opportunity right in front of him. I've been given another chance and that's that, anything else will just have to hold on. During this short period, I need to secure as much food, medicine, water and essential equipment as humanly possible. Plus, I will need a huge and secure shelter to protect those resources possibly loaded with firearms and ammunition for defense.

…Easier said than done though. It would have been somehow manageable back then, but right now there's still order in the world. It's already almost impossible for an average person to procure, not to forget the fact I'm still a high schooler. Where the heck I'm I even going to get the money for all this?

[Don't forget to lock the doors before you go to bed]

[Uh, are you and dad not coming home today?]

[I'm afraid not. We are attending your aunt's wedding, remember. So we might be gone for a couple of days… I could have sworn I told you a bunch of times]

Right, that sicko did get married.

[Right, you guys should have fun then]

While I do hate the fact that they are close to that wrench— Well no matter, after what I suffered in her hands, her own turn will come soon enough, I'll make sure of it.

[Alright then, I'm counting on you to give us a call if something up. We'll keep in touch]

[Let's go we're running late]

[Right!, remember we'll be checking up]

[Sure. Stay safe]

Back to business. Dwelling on the problems won't change my situation. If anything I've learnt during my life. It's act first, think second.

Today's supposed to be the thirteenth of August of the old world calendar. Alright, I have less than a month to get prepared.

The good news though is that Dad technically owns a warehouse right at the port of the city. It's basically the reason we managed to survive so long. While it does have a lot of useful resources that can last for years, it also has a lot of eyes on it. Drawing too much attention early on like last time is nothing but bad news. Plus the food there is too bland for my palette.

No mistake, while it's a perfect resource to secure for me, and of course worth the risk. It's still of low quality for me and my family to survive off.

Well I can hold off on robbing dad's place for now. It will be a backup in case things turn out badly on my end. Right now what I need to focus on is a way to secure massive funds in the shortest amount of time possible.

Who am I kidding? I figured that out a long time ago. It might not turn out to be enough but it's a starter… Time for a little outing.

Man, I didn't think much about it the first time but experiencing the sun first hand after such a long time in the winter is really exhilarating, I feel like I'll burn up any minute now, but in a good way.

Seasons still exist so I suppose we're currently in summer. Must be why there's a lot of people around, hope y'all don't take the weather for granted and savour it while you still can.

It's certainly going to be the last time you feel warmth again, and possibly eat properly, and maybe live properly. Well you get the gist of it live your life to the fullest while it still counts. While me I'm going to make sure I'm never affected by such hindrances, but for that I again need funds. And what better place to get free money than illegal loan sharks.

[Hey this isn't a place for kids y'know!]

C'mon, I've yet to enter the place and I'm already being turned down. Right now I'm in desperate need, so I won't be taking no for an answer.

[Kid— who are you calling kid? Well whatever If you aren't interested in my business I'll find somewhere else to go]

[Business?]

That's right I'm nothing but a desperate kid in need of money as long as there's a way to wriggle money out of my pockets and then so more, what kind of investors would you guys be turning me away.

[Hahaha real funny, now beat it brat— Before something else gets beaten]

That didn't work out… this certainly isn't turning out the way I thought, guess I'll have to find some other place to—

[Hold it, what do you think you're doing? Can't you see he's a potential client]

Where the heck did this dude crawl up from? Though if he's here to help out, I don't mind at all.

[B-But…]

[Sigh forget it I'll let you off the hook this time looking as you were just doing your job…]

Is that it? The guy seriously got some skills in settling disputes.

[Now you're trying to get a loan right… Well if that's the case why don't you accompany to my office. I'm sure we'll be able to work something]

I guess he works here, well that certainly makes more sense now.
