Chapter 8: Furniture Mastery
"Fu Hua, do you need to eat?" Roshin asked after a moment of silence following Yun Xia's departure.
"Listen to you—what normal person doesn't need to eat?" The Herrscher of Sentience rolled her eyes at Roshin.
"..."
"Huh? No way. Your home looks so luxurious, yet you're worried about food expenses?" Hearing Roshin's thoughts, the Herrscher of Sentience was taken aback.
"You don't understand. To prevent me from overspending, my parents strictly calculated all my funds to ensure I live like an average person. But with you here, it's different. We might be scraping by this month. No, next month. I still have some savings left for this month." Roshin sighed helplessly.
Since starting high school, Roshin had always been helpful to others. Worried that someone might take advantage of his kindness to swindle money, his parents tightly controlled his expenses before they left. Otherwise, Roshin wouldn't have given up on gacha games after entering high school.
"That sounds pitiful, but don't worry. Money? No big deal."
"Oh, you have money?"
"No, I don't."
"What are you planning? Don't do anything reckless—robbery is illegal." Roshin suddenly realized something.
"Ahem, robbery? It's called upholding justice! Once my injuries heal tonight, I'll take you to uphold justice—rob the rich to help the poor!"
"What? I have to go too?"
"What? You'd feel bad not going, right? This is all for your living expenses!"
"No... Fine, I'll go. Just call me when you want dinner later. I'll go back to my room to tidy up the bedding first." Roshin suddenly thought of something.
Does upholding justice reward Primogems?
But right now, the most important thing isn't justice or dinner—it's claiming his rewards!
"Alright, go ahead." After Roshin left, the Herrscher of Sentience grabbed the remote and started watching TV.
Back in his room, Roshin stripped off the dirty pillowcase and sheets while checking his Inventory.
There were three items inside.
One was a note labeled "600 Primogems."
Another was a small orb.
The last was a card with a question mark.
The first was easy to understand. With a thought, Roshin used it, and his account balance increased by 600 Primogems, reaching the 1600 milestone—enough for a 10-pull.
But no rush—there was still the second item.
That orb seemed to be for enhancing his physical abilities. Roshin received one for each commission he completed, with the intensity of the enhancement varying based on the task's importance, difficulty, and duration.
Best to use it right away.
When Roshin willed it to activate, a surge of warmth spread from his dantian throughout his body.
If stealing a lollipop from a little girl had given him a tiny flame, this time it was a slightly bigger... flame.
It felt less substantial than he'd imagined.
Thinking about it, this mission hadn't been particularly challenging.
Still... the nightstand felt much lighter to move now, and his body seemed more agile.
This way, at least he could run faster in the future, which left Roshin quite satisfied.
"Next up is that random mastery skill card." Roshin looked at the last item in his Inventory, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Was this the so-called "any weapon mastery" mentioned in the rewards?
What could it be? What could it be?
Could it be a sword?
Roshin recalled the eerily bizarre multiple longswords wielded by the Herrscher of Sentience.
Even now, Roshin had no idea where those feathers came from or how they transformed into swords.
"I'll do a 10-pull soon, so for now, I'll just do a single pull to test my luck." Roshin decided to use this weapon card as a trial run.
As he silently willed it to activate, the card, originally the size of a palm, suddenly expanded into a spinning wheel and began rotating rapidly.
Firearms Mastery, Sword Mastery, Fistfighting Mastery, Blade Mastery, Demolition Mastery, Finger Technique Mastery, Tank Driving Mastery, Star Destroyer Piloting Mastery…
"These all look so damn impressive!" Roshin couldn't help but drool as he stared at the endless list of mastery skills on the screen.
But then again, if he got Star Destroyer Piloting Mastery, would he actually get a star destroyer?
And what about Blade Mastery—where was he supposed to get a sword? Would a kitchen knife work?
As for firearms… weren't those illegal?
Lost in these thoughts, Roshin suddenly realized his worries were completely pointless when the roulette wheel stopped on a certain slot.
[Ding! Congratulations on obtaining Furniture Mastery!]
"Fuckk!!!"
I'll master your entire family!
What the hell is the point of a stupid Furniture Mastery?!
Are you expecting me to pick up a fridge and fight someone with it?!
...
A flash of the blade—the green onion Roshin had tossed into the air was instantly sliced into several pieces before landing neatly in the frying pan held in his right hand.
Well, it seemed Roshin had misunderstood that Furniture Mastery. This was basically just Cooking Mastery, wasn't it?
"Wow, Roshin, your knife skills are amazing! Who knew a tiny kitchen knife could be wielded so masterfully?" The Herrscher of Sentience couldn't help but marvel as she watched him cook.
"Thanks, but I can only use kitchen knives," Roshin replied coldly.
[Furniture Mastery]: You can perfectly control and utilize all household items. Inside a furniture store, you are invincible!
On second thought, this Furniture Mastery wasn't entirely useless.
Though he wasn't sure why kitchenware was included under "furniture."
Honestly, Roshin felt [Furniture Mastery] should've been renamed [Household Item Mastery].
But anyway…
At the very least, his cooking was now top-tier.
Hmm, maybe he should carry more furniture in his Inventory.
Roshin's gaze shifted to the boning knife at the edge of the kitchen counter.
That thing probably counted as a household item too.
Then he looked back at the frying pan in his hand.
Frying Pan Mastery? Like Red Wolf?
The Ultimate Pan Technique?
At dinner, Roshin unsurprisingly received praise from the Herrscher of Sentience—even he was a little shocked.
His cooking, which had previously been just enough to keep him from starving, had somehow produced such delicious dishes.
"But where should I place that newly acquired shop accessory?" Roshin pondered between bites.
He hadn't expected his ten-draw to actually reward him with a shop.
Its function… seemed to be expanding his business scope—business from beyond this world.
But why was it a Zero O'Clock Bar?
Where was he supposed to get alcohol?
Would canned beer work?
