Chapter 12 - Team 46

@ Training Ground 5

The sun was shining brightly, casting long shadows of the surrounding trees. The air was alive with the sound of rustling leaves and chirping birds as a new team gathered under the leadership of Yamanaka Ryu, a Jonin known for his calm yet authoritative demeanor.

Yamanaka Ryu: (standing with his arms crossed, surveying the three young shinobi before him)

"I am Ryu Yamanaka, rank Jonin. I will be your captain for the upcoming missions. Let's start with introductions. You first, Aburame."

Aburame Tourne: (stepping forward, his tone composed and measured)

"I am Aburame Tourne, from the Aburame clan. My specialty is tracking, and my fighting style revolves around the use of insects for both offense and reconnaissance."

Hyuga Tokuma: (volunteering eagerly with a confident smile)

"I am Tokuma Hyuga, from the branch family of the Hyuga clan. My Taijutsu skills are on par with members of the main branch."

Yamanaka Ryu: (raising an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his voice)

"On par with the main branch, huh? Impressive. Let's see how well you back up that claim in the field. Now, you, Uchiha."

Uchiha Yagami: (stepping forward with a calm and respectful demeanor, his voice steady)

"I am Uchiha Yagami, rank Genin. Subordinate of Yamanaka Ryu for the upcoming missions, as part of Team 46."

Yamanaka Ryu's Thoughts:

(Observing Yagami closely)

He's well-spoken and quite an observant for his age. Lord Third was right—he learns quickly and adapts even faster. What is promising is that he learnt to say what he expected to say, after listening to my introduction.

Yamanaka Ryu: (nodding, speaking with authority)

"Alright. Now that introductions are out of the way, let's move on to our first mission as Team 46. Meet me at the village gates in two hours, prepared and ready for departure. I'll brief you on the mission details now."

The team straightened, listening intently as Yamanaka Ryu began.

Yamanaka Ryu:

"We've received Intel that Kirigakure shinobi have been operating within the Fire Nation's borders. They've already killed guards in Kusagakure. Based on the intel, their next target is the Blood Prison—Hōzuki Castle. Our mission has two objectives:

Investigate and confirm Kirigakure's reasons for targeting the Blood Prison. Gather as much additional information about Kirigakure's movements and intentions as possible and deliver it to the owner of Hōzuki Castle.

Tracking and information-gathering will be key to the success of this mission. That means everyone must play to their strengths."

Yamanaka Ryu: (pausing briefly, scanning the team)

"This marks the beginning of a special squad with a critical role. Be ready for anything, and prepare yourselves well. The mission is estimated to take a week, but if we complete it faster, we return sooner. Dismissed!"

After their meeting, Yagami Uchiha made swift and efficient use of shadow clones to ensure his preparation was seamless and ahead of schedule.

One clone delivered a message to Isami.Another clone visited Shisui, still resting at home.A third clone informed Tanaka. The remaining five clones focused on sealing Yagami's items into scrolls and making other necessary arrangements for the mission.

Yagami meticulously prepared, packing his arsenal of kunai, shurikens, and smoke screens, all inscribed with specialized seals, including explosive tags. To ensure his mobility and versatility, he also applied weight-reduction seals to himself and created a large storage seal capable of holding the entire team's gear. By the time Yagami reached the village gates, he had already received memories of warm wishes from Isami, Shisui, and Tanaka for his first mission.

@ The Village Gates

Yagami waited patiently at the gates, fully prepared for the mission. Soon, Hyuga Tokuma arrived, spotting the young Uchiha.

Tokuma:

"Hey, Yagami, right?"

Yagami: (nodding)

"Yes."

Tokuma: (raising an eyebrow)

"You're really young. Do you think you're capable of handling a mission like this?"

Yagami: (with a calm demeanor)

"Don't judge a scroll by its cover. Missions rarely go as planned; it's all about adapting to the circumstances."

Tokuma: (smirking)

"You've got a way with words, Uchiha. Have you even unlocked your Sharingan yet? I was teammates with Uchiha Shisui, after all."

Yagami:

"Shisui is my brother, and yes, I've awakened my Sharingan."

Tokuma: (impressed)

"Ah, I see. Let's have a spar when we get back."

Yagami:

"That sounds good. By the way, do you always prepare emergency supplies in advance?"

Tokuma: (curious)

"Yeah, how'd you know?"

Yagami: (with a slight grin)

"Figures. You arrived faster than expected. I used shadow clones to speed up my preparations."

Shortly after, Aburame Torune arrived.

Torune:

"Where's Captain Ryu?"

Yagami:

"He's not here yet."

Torune: (introducing himself)

"By the way, I'm a Chunin by rank."

Tokuma:

"Me too. Yagami, that makes you the lowest rank on this team."

Yagami: (shrugging with a wry smile)

"I didn't choose this team. The elders evaluated me and decided. I wasn't expecting to be surrounded by Chunin and a Jonin."

Torune: (noticing Yagami's light load)

"Why don't you have anything in your bag?"

Yagami: (holding up a scroll)

"I know some Fuinjutsu, so I sealed all my belongings into this. Don't worry, I brought extra scrolls for everyone. I can carry the team's items too, so you don't need to lug everything around."

Torune: (nodding in approval)

"That's great. We'll travel much lighter this way."

At that moment, Yamanaka Ryu appeared, carrying his own bag.

Ryu:

"Good job, Yagami. Here's my gear."

Yagami sealed the team's belongings into his storage scroll, leaving them free to carry only their weapons.

The team moved swiftly, maintaining a steady rhythm as they leapt through the forest. While Tokuma and Torune took two branches at a time, Yagami's light, precise movements allowed him to skip four branches effortlessly, thanks to his weight-reduction seals.

Suddenly, Yagami spoke, his tone calm but alert.

Yagami:

"Captain, there are five people following us from Konoha."

Ryu immediately halted the team, prompting Tokuma and Torune to exchange puzzled glances.

Torune:

"Hey, it's probably another squad heading out for their mission."

Ryu: (shaking his head)

"Good job, Yagami. You've identified the Root Anbu. Their mission is likely to eliminate the Kiri ninja, but it's impressive you detected them. Your sensory abilities are remarkable."

Yagami: (nodding)

"That makes sense. They stopped moving the moment we did."

Ryu gave a satisfied nod and resumed their journey, motioning for the others to follow.

Ryu:

"Torune, Tokuma, now you have a better understanding of Yagami's abilities."

As they leapt forward, Torune glanced at Tokuma.

Torune:

"He's definitely fit for this team and mission."

Tokuma:

"Yeah, he's good."

The group moved beyond the Land of Fire, passing several Konoha checkpoints with ease. As they entered the Land of Grass, Yagami silently considered his personal objectives.

Yagami's Thoughts:

*Three objectives await me here:

Steal the sealing formula for the Heavenly Prison Seal, a valuable tool for the Uchiha Police Force. Locate Karin's mother—helping her could provide Naruto and Kushina with emotional support in the future, as I, an Uchiha, cannot always be there for the Jinchūriki. Convince Ryu to admit Karin and her mother into Konoha.

His mind settled on these goals, Yagami kept pace with the team.

Their journey was interrupted by a single Kusa shinobi who emerged from the shadows of the trees.

Kazami:

"Hey! Wait! What are you doing here?"

Ryu: (stepping forward)

"We've been assigned a mission by the Blood Prison."

Kazami frowned, crossing his arms.

Kazami:

"That doesn't matter. Blood Prison always looks down on Kusa shinobi, and we can't tolerate that arrogance."

Before Ryu could respond, Yagami stepped forward, his voice calm but laced with authority.

Yagami:

"Then you should prove your strength to the Blood Prison, not to Konoha. Or… are you saying Kusa is capable of taking on Konoha?"

Kazami stiffened, a bead of sweat forming on his brow. Yagami's words, though diplomatic, carried a sharp edge that left no room for further argument.

Kazami: (gulping)

"Fine. Go ahead. Just… don't cause trouble here."

As the team moved past, Yagami added in a low voice.

Yagami:

"By the way, there are some powerful masked shinobi's following us, be sure to make way for them cause, They won't speak—they let their swords do the talking."

Kazami visibly paled, stepping aside.

Ryu smirked faintly, clearly impressed by Yagami's handling of the situation, and led the team onward.

As they continued their journey, Tokuma glanced at Yagami with a small smile.

Ryu "Good job handeling them."

Tokuma:

"You're more like Shisui than I thought. He used to resolve situations like this with his words, too."

Yagami smiled, his tone reflective.

Yagami:

"My grandfather, Uchiha Kagami, was one of the Lord Second's most trusted subordinates. He always accompanied him for peace talks, given with Lord Second's infamous temper. I think I inherited this from him."

Ryu's gaze lingered on Yagami as he processed the information.

Ryu's Thoughts:

So, he's Kagami Uchiha's,… The faithful suborindate of the Second Hokage unlike the four people now ruling,. I thought he was just another Uchiha, but now I see there's more to him than meets the eye.
