In the early morning lecture, An Han deliberately sat right next to Long Xing, pretending to be half-asleep with his head resting on the desk. His eyes were barely open, seemingly fixed on the lecturer—but his real attention was laser-focused on the conversation beside him.
"Bro Long, how'd last night's date go?"
"Don't even mention it—I'm completely out of the running," Long Xing replied in a lifeless tone.
The guy had actually gone out drinking off-campus last night and didn't stumble back to the dorm until 2 a.m., dead drunk. He still hadn't fully sobered up.
An Han felt a twinge of guilt. Sure, he loved playing pranks on his roommates and friends—but he'd never actually hurt one of them like this before.
Poor Long Ge… he really got the short end of the stick.
Though… if it'd been that jerk Wu Dongming instead, it'd be perfect.
Chen Junjie, sitting on Long Xing's other side, pressed further: "Was that girl really not An Han in drag?"
That damn Chen Junjie—he's asking for a beating too!
An Han shot him a dark, menacing glare.
"It really wasn't!" Long Xing snapped, unusually irritated. "You and Xiao Han might not get along, fine! But why drag him into my personal stuff? Are you insane?!"
Scolded, Chen Junjie stiffened, awkwardly scratching his nose. "I just… seriously, that photo looked exactly like An Han."
"If it's not him, then you've got a shot with her, right?"
"To chase girls these days, you gotta have zero shame, you know? All my exes? I only got them because I had no shame!"
"Trust me—I've got tons of experience! I'll help you win her over for sure!"
Long Xing's mood sank even lower.
He dropped his face onto the desk, sounding utterly dejected: "She has a boyfriend."
"Then steal her away! Nothing's un-diggable if you're willing to dig hard enough!"
An Han, eavesdropping nearby, let out a disdainful "Tch!"
This guy's moral compass is seriously broken.
"But… her boyfriend is Su Peng."
Both An Han and Chen Junjie froze in shock, turning simultaneously to look at Su Peng—who sat in the row behind them, completely oblivious, quietly focused on the lecture.
Wait—since when did I have a boyfriend?! And since when was it Su Peng?!
"Su Peng, huh…" Chen Junjie sighed, shaking his head. "That's tricky. Stealing a girl from a classmate? If anyone finds out, you'll be social toast in this class."
"Yeah…"
Su Peng noticed the stares from the front and gave An Han a questioning look with his eyes.
An Han just shook his head and buried his face back on the desk.
Rumor had it Su Peng was pretty well-off—he used a laptop worth over 20,000 yuan, had decent looks (slightly less handsome than An Han, but cleaner and neater), and a nice personality. Several girls had apparently chased after him before.
So how the hell did I end up 'dating' this guy?
An Han was still confused, but quickly brushed it off.
Whatever. I'm never cross-dressing again anyway.
Let them believe what they want.
"What was that girl's name again?"
"How would I know? She refused to tell me."
"Then you're done for—she wouldn't even give you her name."
"She even deleted my WeChat."
Long Xing and Chen Junjie kept chatting, but An Han, now confident he wasn't at risk of exposure, stopped paying attention.
Ah… Long Xing must've seen me leaving the field with Su Peng last night and jumped to conclusions.
An Han rested his chin in one hand, gazing toward the front of the classroom.
Honestly, that's fine. If he hadn't misunderstood, Chen Junjie would've probably pushed him into some obsessive, clingy pursuit by now.
With this major crisis neatly resolved, An Han was in an unusually good mood. Even before class ended, he was already browsing food delivery apps to treat himself.
Unfortunately, the area around campus had no fancy restaurants—just cheap meal sets for ten or twenty yuan. The most expensive option was usually grilled fish from the local barbecue joint.
Suddenly, he felt a slight itch on his arm.
He turned his head—and saw Long Xing leaning right next to his arm, sniffing the air with his nose twitching.
"Bro Long, are you some kind of pervert?" An Han teased, his mood so good that his lips curled into a sweet smile, dimples appearing on his cheeks.
"No," Long Xing said, turning to Chen Junjie. "Xiao Han smells like milk too."
"What milk smell?"
"Kinda like that girl's scent."
"Probably spilled milk on himself this morning," Chen Junjie yawned, unconcerned.
An Han's sweet smile vanished instantly, replaced by a dark scowl.
What?! I don't smell like anything!
I drank soy milk this morning, okay?!
He lifted his arm and sniffed hard—but aside from the faint warmth of his own skin, he detected nothing.
When Long Xing turned to look at him again, An Han had already wiped all expression from his face, pretending he hadn't heard a word and staring blankly at the lecturer.
Trouble…
I was just trying to distance myself from that girl, and now they've found another connection?!
Still frowning, An Han couldn't help it—he yanked open his collar and sniffed inside his shirt.
Huh… maybe there really is a faint scent?
He couldn't tell if it was real or just his imagination—but either way, if Long Xing connected this clue, suspicion might circle back to him again.
"Will this ever end?!" he groaned inwardly.
Just then, the class bell rang abruptly.
University classes rarely ran overtime. The professor immediately dismissed everyone, and students scrambled noisily out of the room.
An Han was about to bolt too—but as he stood up, he saw Long Xing hesitating, then walking straight toward Su Peng.
He froze for a split second, then instantly followed.
"Su Peng, wait up!" Long Xing hurriedly blocked his path.
"What's up?" Su Peng was baffled—he'd noticed these guys staring at him during class too.
Long Xing looked awkward, scratching his head. "Uh… do you have a girlfriend?"
He still wanted to confirm his assumption.
If he was wrong… maybe he still had a chance.
"A girlfriend? I—"
Before Su Peng could finish, he caught An Han standing behind Long Xing, glaring at him with murderous intensity.
But eyes alone couldn't convey messages—not unless they had some kind of telepathic bond, which they absolutely didn't.
"No," Su Peng answered honestly.
"No?!" Long Xing's face lit up with inexplicable joy.
Su Peng, utterly confused by Long Xing's reaction—and now seeing An Han's "I'm going to kill you" expression—was even more lost. "What's going on?!"
"Nothing! Nothing!" Long Xing chirped, scampering off gleefully to share the "good news" with Chen Junjie.
"???" Su Peng turned to An Han, utterly bewildered.
An Han, furious beyond words, kicked him hard in the shin. "Your eyes! Read my eyes! How can you not understand?!"
"I didn't understand…"
"Go after him right now and tell him you do have a girlfriend!"
"He'll believe that?"
"Don't worry—Bro Long's not the sharpest tool in the shed."
