Chapter 18 - 018. The Date

An Han felt like he was about to die.

He hadn't even reached the dimly lit corner of the sports field yet, but Long Xing had already come out to meet him—stopping him right under the bright stadium lights.

And just his luck: after walking for twenty minutes without incident, his stockings had chosen this exact moment to slip down again! He'd specifically used double-sided tape before leaving to firmly secure the stockings to his skin!

As An Han watched Long Xing approach with eyes gleaming with excitement—and, frankly, obvious attraction—waves of shame and nervousness surged through him like fire, instantly flooding his brain.

His entire face burned crimson, the blush spreading from his cheeks down to his neck and ears. His head felt so stuffed with embarrassment it was practically throbbing, on the verge of bursting.

His mind had nearly shut down. All his carefully prepared thoughts had evaporated, leaving only one desperate mantra: I absolutely cannot be exposed.

"Have you eaten yet?" Long Xing asked.

"Mm."

An Han forced out a reply using the feminine voice he'd practiced for days. With every syllable, his anxiety spiked—he was terrified something would give him away. After all, Su Peng had warned him his fake voice sounded weird.

"How about… we go get bubble tea?" Long Xing looked down at the girl. Standing over 180 cm tall, he could only see a sliver of her profile up close.

He really wanted to bend down and get a proper look at her face—but that would come off as creepy.

"No… no, thanks."

Is this girl really that nervous?

Long Xing realized he might be coming on too strong—or maybe she'd mistaken him for a bad guy just by seeing his buzz cut and tattoos.

But he'd deliberately worn a longer-sleeved shirt to cover his tattoos!

When his suggestion was rejected, Long Xing scrambled for another topic: "What's your name? Which class are you in?"

Right… what should I call myself?

An Han froze. He hadn't even considered what name to use while cross-dressing.

But making up a fake name could easily backfire—especially since Long Xing had just asked for his class.

So he simply pretended not to hear, burying his head even deeper.

What the hell do I do now?! I've never been this awkward around a guy before!

Someone tell me how to act so Long Xing knows I absolutely hate him!

If his voice were convincing enough, An Han would've flat-out rejected him—but right now, he could barely speak word by word, let alone lift his head to show his full face to Long Xing.

And to top it all off—his damn stockings had slipped again!

He subtly tugged the knee-highs back up, his cheeks burning even hotter.

But to Long Xing, this behavior just looked adorably shy—clearly a sign of affection. After all, Long Xing himself was blushing furiously, stammering like a flustered schoolboy.

"How about we just… take a walk?"

Since he still didn't know her name, Long Xing wasn't too worried—he could always ask on WeChat later.

He remembered Chen Junjie's advice: Be bold! Go for it!

But he just couldn't bring himself to…

An Han paused, then pointed toward a stone bench nearby.

There was no way he was going to wander around campus in women's clothes with a guy—that would be beyond embarrassing.

Just cross-dressing alone might get people calling him a "cross-dresser," but strolling around looking like he was on a date with another man? That would raise serious questions about his sexuality!

He was barely holding it together.

An Han slumped onto the bench, utterly defeated, sighing inwardly.

[Mission Complete.

Reward Obtained: Random Advanced Vocal Skill. Bonus: +5 to Long Xing's favorability toward cross-dressing.]

Compared to the previous reward—worth over a million—the vocal skill felt underwhelming.

He didn't have dreams of becoming a singer or celebrity. Even if this skill made him a national-level vocal artist, it wouldn't do him any good.

An Han narrowed his eyes and glanced sideways at Long Xing, who sat beside him with an awkward, nervous grin.

The system mission was done.

But more importantly, he'd successfully cleared Long Xing's suspicions.

"Do you like playing games?" Long Xing asked cautiously, sitting a careful distance away—yet he could still catch a faint, sweet scent wafting from her.

Kind of like… milk?

His nose twitched involuntarily as his eyes drifted toward her chest—completely flat, with zero curves.

"I guess so," An Han replied, trying hard to suppress his natural male voice.

But the next second, he realized something strange—his vocal habits had changed. The feminine voice that slipped out sounded completely natural, with no trace of forced imitation.

Wait… is this because of the vocal skill?

He recalled that some famous singers could seamlessly switch between male and female registers.

"Your voice is really nice," Long Xing said softly.

"Is it?" An Han relaxed a little. "I don't play games much."

With his voice no longer a weak point, as long as no one discovered *the truth down below*, Long Xing—now deep in lovestruck daze—probably wouldn't suspect a thing.

*Besides, my girl voice really is pretty good~ Maybe I can find some cute guys online to duo queue with me in games.*

Time to take control!

An Han pressed his legs together and lowered his head slightly. "By the way… you mentioned you have a roommate who looks a lot like me?"

"Since when did you get so talkative?"

"…"

"My roommate's name is An Han," Long Xing chuckled, assuming the girl had finally let her guard down. "He really does look a lot like you. Honestly, he's the type who'd actually try cross-dressing—so at first, I even suspected you might be him in disguise! He got so mad when I told him that."

"I see…"

An Han casually adjusted the silk ribbon around his neck—carefully placed to hide his Adam's apple. Now that he knew Long Xing no longer suspected anything, he felt much more at ease.

Great! That means today's cross-dressing mission is fully complete!

"You like me, don't you?"

He decided to push further—better to crush Long Xing's hopes now than deal with endless future harassment that might force him into more cross-dressing.

But his blunt question startled Long Xing. The burly guy—who always got stopped for ID checks on the subway—now shook his head frantically, his face redder than a monkey's butt. "N-no! Not at all!"

"Mm… I also…" An Han suddenly remembered his persona and quickly turned his head away, whispering softly, "I have a boyfriend."

"Huh?"

"Please don't bother me anymore."

With that, he stood up and walked straight out of the sports field.

Long Xing stared helplessly at the girl's retreating back, feeling his heart shatter.

This was the first time he'd ever met a girl who matched his ideal so perfectly—in personality, figure, and style.

And she already had a boyfriend…

He sighed deeply, utterly dejected.

But just then, he saw the girl suddenly stop in the middle of the field. A moment later, a male student stood up and walked over to her—and the two of them left the stadium together.

"Su Peng?"
