The air was filled with smoke and burning flesh , his eyes stung and his body trembled. It was like he was drunk making him feel dizzy.
Bam ! Bam ! Bam !
The rhythm of the war drum continued, He swallowed his saliva as if trying to soothe his patched throat then grab his sword.
He looked up , there was an army coming towards him . They were filled with different kinds of large animals and demons. They charged with enemity.
It was just a dream but he didn't know why, he buckled up and ran towards the army.
He can't die …there was someone waiting for him at home.
Each time he killed an army, another one will beisegied him. It was endless but he kept raising his sword and fighting.
But fortunately, the armies gradually stopped and finally he could rest.
He looked around at the dead bodies then started to drag his sword home. A strong wind knocked against him then started to enter his body rapidly.
He ignored it , his only thought was returning home.
Bei Shang gradually opened his eyes, the floating foxes on the ceiling reminded him of where he is.
There was no one sleeping on his chest, he looked around and checked his feet. His ankles also looked hale and hearty.
This was strange of the demons , since when had they started to let him go.
His head started aching and a glimpse of the dream he had flashed in his head.
Who was the person he was so bent on , coming back home to see ? How precious was that person, he fought multitudes of armies for? Was the dream a key to his memories that the lady talked to him about?
Bei Shang finally couldn't help but touch his heart.
Who really was he? What was he hiding even from himself?
He heard a small commotion outside and he put the thoughts behind his head. He would come back to his problems later , he have to find out what was going on in the palace.
He stood up and walked slowly to the courtroom. There were no attendants on the way, Bei shang wondered where everyone was.
He opened the door and looked inside.
The inside was in chaos , Nick was being held down by Kate who was bleeding from the side of her lips , Someone who strangely looked like a older version of Nick was hiding General Summer behind him , his lips was also bleeding.
The attendants and officials he had been wondering where they're were down on their knees as if trying not to put the anger of the Huli Jing on them .
Hearing the door opened, Everyone eyes wenr straight to him making him feel like a thousand arrows were pointed at him.
Seeing him, Kate looked strangely relieved. She immediately called him over.
"Bei Shang, come here "
Seeing Nick crazy stare , Bei Shang hesitated moving.
"Hurry up !!!"
Bei Shang didn't want to get involved but his feet were already walking towards them before his mind catch up. Kate then released Nick and pushed him towards Bei Shang like a hot potato.
Bei Shang caught him in his arms and looked at him. If before Nick looked like a mad dog about to tear everyone apart , this time he looked so tamed like he have found his owner; he didn't struggle and he became quiet.
Bei Shang could swear that everyone sighed in relief.
'What the fuck was happening while I was asleep?'
Winter seeing that Nick was finally calm , collapsed to the ground and started to cough blood. General Summer tried to hold him but he slapped the arm like he wasn't the one trying to protect him earlier.
His voice was cold " Leave"
General Summer clenched his fists " Why haven't you forgiven me ? It's been 470 years , I went though the punishment, I did everything… " His voice cracked "What can I do to make you forgive me ?"
Winter stood up and turned to leave; someone went behind him and hugged him from behind. Winter stiffened before turning around and slapping his face.
Summer only lowered his head for a second before grabbing Winter wrist.
"Winter , please!!!"
"Let go of me !!!" He pushed Summer and literally ran away. Everyone stared as Summer raked his fingers in his hair before turning to leave …in tears.
No one knows if he will ever come back to the palace.
King Winter would do anything but punish his best friend, at the same time, he would be unforgiving and harsh towards him.
This relationship between them was a black stain that the entire Huli Jing clan would rather closed their eyes than acknowledge.
There was a loud rumbling and everyone stared at the mortal holding the General at once.
Bei Shang immediately covered his stomach, his face was red.
Trying to savage his reputation, he pushed Nick away and turned to leave.
"I'll go find Iran and Mitch"
Someone pulled him harshly back and stuffed Nick into his arms again, Kate face was panicked "Take Nick with you …for 3 days , make sure you take him around even when you're going to the bathroom "
"But why?"
" Let's just say that he snapped so he's unstable for now , It took us a few hours to get him to the point he is now… " Kate placed her palms together " Just 3 days please "
Bei Shang looked at the demon stuffed in his arms , he was quiet , his eyes were bright as he stared down at him , even his body was still like he didn't want to move.
Was this also why his limbs were still intact? How strange.
" Okay then " He swallowed and held Nick hand, Nick covered his fingers like a little boy making his heart soften just a little bit "Let's go look for Mitch and Iran then we will find some food"
Kate looked like she was about to cry " Thank you so much!!!"
Bei Shang took him to Mitch room , he didn't make a single noise only following him around like a child.
Finding it funny, Bei Shang turned and poke his cheeks. Nick grabbed the finger before putting it in his mouth.
Bei Shang swore his heart explode.
This reminded him of Nick when they first met.
Cute and shy and obedient.
What happened that made him snap? Is it the fight between that demon and General Summer?
He opened the door and looked into the room, Mitch was already awake and was drawing on a piece of paper, Iran sat down beside him , her arms were folded around her legs and she placed her chin on them.
They both heard the commotion and didn't come out?
Why didn't they come out?
Mitch raised his head, seeing his dad and mom , his lips raised up and he called out happily.
"Daddy and momma is finally awake!!!"
Wait Nick was also asleep? How come he didn't go to visit his child when he woke up?
Iran smiled at him " You were asleep for a whole day, I am so happy you have woken up …you're hungry right? Lemme get some…"
"Let's all go to the kitchen together"
"Okay then "
Mitch and Nick clung to Bei Shang that it felt like he was carrying two weight. It's one thing to deal with a clingy child, now he have to deal with an adult on top of it.
It was finally when Bei Shang sat down to eat and the two boys of the house dozed off on his laps did he finally have the opportunity to ask Iran what happened.
Iran was consise and clear as she narrated, Nick running mad and releasing his pressure causing most of the demons to faint, King Winter managed to control him but after Nick woke up , he went to the court room to cause chaos.
He specifically attacked general Summer as if trying to kill him. Even when she woke up ,She was not allowed to leave the room because they were afraid that Mitch will realize something was wrong with his Dad.
So she lied to Mitch that they were both sleeping and they will come and pick him from the room in a little while.
Fortunately Mitch was gullible so he believed the lie and stayed patiently for them to come and pick him up for the room.
"If you had not woken up and gone to the courtroom, God knows how long we will still be staying in there waiting" Iran sighed and rubbed her forehead " There's so much chaos in the palace nowadays"
Bei Shang nod his head and continued to pat the sleeping Huli Jings hair , he didn't know it would be that serious.
"How is Broody..I mean prince Khalid?"
"He left with his sister I guess , I don't really know what happened after I fainted but I guess King Winter commanded everyone home…we can only wait for now "
The Huli Jing clan was starting to get more complicated than he first saw it .
Only he did not realize that this is just the beginning.
