Chapter 7 - 7. Su Yan meeting

The moonlight spilled across the quiet courtyard like a veil of silver mist. Inside his room, Lin Zhan sat on the edge of the bed, his shirt loosely unbuttoned.

On the table lay two sealed files — one thick, one thin. The thicker one bore the emblem of the Lin Family's Research Division, stamped with a crimson seal: "Void Training Tower — Confidential."

But Lin Zhan's gaze didn't linger on it. Instead, he reached for the thinner one.

He turned it over in his hand, fingers tapping the edge thoughtfully."…Let's look at this first," he muttered under his breath.

He pressed his fingertip against the small security rune at the corner of the file. A soft light glowed, and the seal broke with a crisp click.

The first page bore a familiar name — and with it, a flood of memories.

He leaned back slightly, his expression unreadable. "So, it's been two months already…"

In his mind, her image appeared clearly — tall, elegant, and devastatingly beautiful. Her skin was smooth and pale as snow, her features sharp like sculpted jade.

She had a cascade of black hair that brushed against her back and a pair of narrow eyes that always seemed to look down at people, as if the world itself were beneath her notice.

Her body was…that perfect — the kind that drew eyes without even trying. Every curve, every motion carried a cold, untouchable grace. She had the poise of royalty and the confidence of a conqueror.

Even in a room full of powerful cultivators, Su Yan stood out like a moon among stars — cold, bright, and far away.

And yet, she was his wife.

A fact that even Lin Zhan himself still found difficult to believe sometimes.

He couldn't help a small, crooked smile. "That woman… still as domineering as ever, I bet."

They hadn't met much since their marriage. Both had their own paths — he, training with the system and diving into dangerous realms. And she did not even belong to this world. A normal human.

Their relationship wasn't exactly distant… but it wasn't warm either. Somewhere between tension and quiet understanding.

He opened the file fully, scanning each page listed her activities: meetings, missions, appearances at various gatherings across all over world.

But as he read on, his brows began to furrow.

"…So she's been busy, huh?" he murmured, voice calm but low.

For a long moment, he stared at the paragraph in silence.

Whatever was written there, it clearly wasn't something he liked.

A faint coldness rippled through the air — subtle, but sharp. The wooden table trembled slightly under the pressure of his aura.

He let out a quiet exhale and set the file down.

His gaze lingered on Su Yan's photograph — a still image of her standing with her usual, composed expression. Elegant. Unbothered. As if nothing in the world could shake her.

"…So you did that, huh?" Lin Zhan murmured softly. "You never change."

He leaned back, eyes half-closed, letting the moonlight spill over his face.

"I suppose I'll go see you myself tomorrow," he said quietly, voice laced with something between amusement and exasperation. "It's been a while anyway… and its time for you to enter in this martial world, as my wife..."

He picked up his phone and dialed a code .A calm male voice answered instantly.

"Boss, you're back?"

Lin Zhan's tone was even. "Yeah. Prepare a entry pass for tomorrow event in Grand king hotel, korea."

"…Understood."

The line went silent.

He tossed the communicator aside and exhaled. The faint light from the moon traced over his chiseled features, softening the usual sharpness in his eyes.

For the first time in a long while, Lin Zhan allowed himself to relax. He lay back, folded one arm behind his head, and closed his eyes.

Outside, the night was quiet — the kind of silence that came before storms. Inside, his thoughts drifted toward a beautiful, cold woman somewhere far away.

---------------------------------------

The morning sun painted golden streaks across the horizon as the private jet cut through the clouds, sleek and silent.

Inside, Lin Zhan sat by the window, a cup of steaming black coffee in hand. The gentle hum of the engines mixed with the faint rustle of wind against the hull.

He looked surprisingly at ease — casual black shirt, simple slacks, and that faint curve at the corner of his lips that was half a smirk, half a secret.

He leaned back in the seat, eyes narrowing slightly."It really wasn't easy convincing that old man…" he muttered.

If it weren't for his recent breakthrough to Peak Seventh Rank, Lin Zhan doubted his grandfather would've let him step a single foot off the family island.

He still remembered the conversation vividly — his grandfather's voice booming in the main hall, shaking the pillars.

"Out of the island? Again? Hah! You just came back from the secret realm, brat!"

Lin Zhan had simply stood there, face calm, hands behind his back. The moment he said that, the pressure in the room vanished. The old man's eyes widened slightly — not in disbelief, but in grudging satisfaction.

Then, after a long pause, the family head had laughed heartily, slapping the armrest of his chair.

"Good! Finally, you're catching up to your brothers! Fine, go — but if you don't return within a month, I'll send someone to tie you up and drag you back!"

Even thinking about it now made Lin Zhan chuckle. "Old geezer still acts like I'm twelve…"

Still, that breakthrough had done more than grant permission. His grandfather had been so pleased that he threw him a pile of cultivation resources, enough to make even high-ranking elders jealous.

Lin Zhan's gaze dropped to his right hand — a black storage ring glimmered faintly on his finger, absorbing and reflecting the soft morning light.

Inside it, countless treasures slumbered: jade bottles filled with liquified energy essence, metal spheres containing condensed elemental stones, spirit fruits, and even rare beast cores that could temper his blood.

He turned the ring slightly between his fingers and smiled.

"These storage rings really are wonders," he murmured. "Pocket spaces made by spatial-type warriors — who would've thought Earth could evolve to this point…"

He rested his chin on his hand, eyes flickering with faint amusement. Even in this world — so similar yet so drastically different from the one he once knew — technology and cultivation had long since merged.

And amidst all that, ancient treasures like this ring still held their worth.

He himself could create one now — a thousand-cubic-meter storage ring if he wished. But crafting such things took time and control. That's ... out of question. His current version was made by the Lin Family's senior craftsmen and reinforced, giving it a faint, bottomless quality.

He took another sip of coffee, feeling the faint bitterness spread across his tongue.

His thoughts drifted for a while, then shifted toward the upcoming "Grand King Hotel" event — a massive international gathering hosted jointly by multiple nations. Business tycoons, military families, and a few hidden representatives were all expected to attend.

"Let's see what kind of expression you'll make this time, Su Yan," he whispered.

The plane continued its silent glide toward the distant horizon.
