Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 Royal Hunting Route

Maegor's Tower, Queen's Hall.

Queen Cersei sat at the head of the long table, with Jaime and the stewards at either side.

At first, Green was quite interested, but as he listened, he became bored and distracted.

"Dorne's Summer Red has been featured more often at recent feasts than the Arbor wine."

"Yes, summer red is becoming increasingly popular."

"Almost every lady in King's Landing has a Highgarden's armless dress now."

"Well, Highgarden's jewelry is also popular among the ladies."

"Yes, I heard that Count Janos bought a whole box of Highgarden jewelry to please his new lover."

[Count Janos, full name Janos Sterling, commander-in-chief of the Capital Guard (Gold Cloak)]

"Which poor girl can stand Genos' frog face?"

"He looks like a barrel."

"Is Genos still collecting gold dragons from his men?"

"Of course, you can't teach an old dog new tricks."

"There is no way. He is deeply trusted by His Majesty Robert and holds 6,000 gold cloaks."

"It's hard for the little girls."

"He can only hook up with illegitimate daughters. Which legitimate daughter would fall in love with the son of a butcher?"

"Not necessarily, I heard…"

"You said it yourself, you only heard it from others, so it's just a rumor."

The officers' discussion veered off into gossip, and James coughed lightly at the opportune moment.

Green's impression of these colleagues has changed a little. After listening carefully, he found that there is actually quite a lot of useful information. They also serve as the queen's fashion consultant.

James said, "Let's continue with our previous discussion. Her Majesty has always used the Iron Gate for hunting in King's Landing in previous years, and this time, that cannot be changed."

Everyone fell silent for a moment.

After the meeting of stewards began, Queen Cersei spoke for the first time: "Why are you all silent? Are those lowly people still spreading rumors?"

Lancel glanced around and said, "Following tradition will save a lot of trouble. Rumors are spreading. If we rashly change our route out of the city, it will play into their hands and bring disgrace upon Her Majesty the Queen."

Queen Cersei's lips curved with satisfaction. "Lancel, continue."

Lancel nodded and clenched his fists. "We only have eight days. My advice is to punish the rumormongers severely. Only by shedding blood can people understand that the noble queen cannot be slandered at will."

From Green's perspective, he could just see that Lancel's thighs were trembling slightly after he finished speaking.

Is this to please Cersei, or is this actually what Cersei herself meant?

Jaime objected. "There are nearly twenty thousand civilians in the entire Queen's Quarter. Lancel, how many heads do you think we need to kill to stop the rumors? How can we quell the riots that may be caused by the killings?"

James's gaze was intimidating. Lancel didn't dare to look directly at him and avoided his gaze.

Cersei couldn't hide her disappointment and anger at Jaime and Lancel's behavior.

"By the way, why is that smelly and dirty place called the Queen's District?"

"Yes, yes, it is one of the poorest areas in the entire King's Landing."

Everyone present actually knew the origin of the Queen's District, but they were just making small talk to ease the awkward atmosphere.

Queen Cersei took over. "I have consulted with maesters. A certain queen of Aegon the Conqueror drank a bowl of water offered by a commoner there."

"Oh, I see."

"These people are so shameless. The Queen drank a bowl of water there and they called it the Queen's Quarter. Aegon was there at the time, right? Why not call it the King's Quarter?"

"The specific truth is not important, it's just that this name can easily be exploited by those with ulterior motives."

"Yes, yes, there is a disease spreading in the Queen's District, but they are pointing the finger at our Queen. How dare they say that the Queen's unkindness brought the disease."

"The hunting party in King's Landing... the Queen's carriage will definitely pass through the Queen's Quarter. I'm worried that it might cause a riot, which would be detrimental to Her Majesty's safety and even affect the Queen's prestige in King's Landing."

"There's bound to be trouble. This rumor came out of nowhere, targeting Her Majesty the Queen during her royal hunt."

Cersei tilted her head slightly towards Jaime. "Ser Jaime, do you have any suggestions?"

Hearing Cersei's words, Jaime frowned. "According to the intelligence I received today, the atmosphere in the Queen's Quarters is very tense. If blood is seen...it's very likely to cause a large-scale riot."

Cersei seemed to have lost her patience and didn't want to listen to the so-called excuses. She interrupted, "Tell me the specific method."

Jaime didn't mind Cersei's reaction and smiled. "Throw some gold dragons. That's the fastest way. One or two thousand gold dragons should be enough."

One or two thousand golden dragons?!

Green, who had been quiet all the time, moved his ears.

Green noticed that Cersei's expression was obviously moved, what a Lannister.

Green felt that it was time for him to step forward for the poor people of Kleber.

Green coughed lightly to attract attention, then stood up and said to Queen Cersei, "Your Highness, I'm sorry, but I have something to say."

Cersei seemed to attach great importance to the newly arrived Lord Green. She nodded gently and gestured for him to sit down and talk.

"Sir James's suggestion is very good, but I have to remind you that you have ignored their next appetite, or their appetite the next time."

James glanced at Green without saying anything.

Isn't it said that James has a great spirit of chivalry? Why does it always feel like he's targeting me?

Green continued, "I actually agree with what Lord Lancel said."

Lancel looked at Green with such a bright gaze that Green shuddered.

When James heard that Green supported Lancel's beheading plan, his eyes became intimidating again.

Green imitated James's sidelong glance and said, "We can't ignore Her Majesty the Queen's return journey after the Royal Forest Hunt. Will she have to pass through the Queen's Quarter again then?"

Everyone nodded slightly.

"Rumors are the first problem, but I think this is the easiest to solve."

No one came out to mock, and everyone showed a puzzled expression at the right time.

"It's just a rumor. It's inherently weak. We can use bigger rumors to weaken or even eliminate those that are detrimental to Her Majesty the Queen."

The officers pondered Green's words and exclaimed in amazement.

Lancel's eyes seemed fixed on Green. "Sir Green, for example?"

Green smiled first, then glanced at Lancel with his brown eyes. "Are there any secrets between Lord Robert and Lord Jon that must be shared?"

After fifteen years of oppression, Green, who has proclaimed himself the guardian of the Crab Claw Peninsula, has become "irreconcilable" with Duke Arryn.

Green blinked his eyes after he finished speaking, and everyone unexpectedly had the same wrong idea.

For a moment, the upright James thought of a lot of things, as if he was verifying the truthfulness of Green's words.

James shook his head, shaking off the strange thoughts that had come to his mind due to Green's influence.

What about everyone else?

I have to say that targeting Lord Robert and Lord Jon in the Queen's Chamber is politically correct because Queen Cersei will be happy.

"This is the first step to resolving rumors. We can discuss what specific rumors to use. I'm just using an analogy."

Oh~ The officers are very excited.
